  • What is the use of the R model?? I mean, its just a special edition paint scheme, Ohlins forks, Brembo Mono Blocks up front. Do you really wanna pay 75-80K extra for that? The Ohlins forks added in the bike are like the entry level ones and it has to be setup for your weight if you wanna really make use of the Ohlin forks. AFAIK from my friends, it will create more problems than solve it. If it's not setup properly for your weight, then its no good.

Next is the Brembo monoblocks which are superior than the regular 675's pads. but instead of spending for the monoblock, isn't it better you invest in braided break liners and a high quality break pad (Kevlar, or HH sintered) and then your done.

So do we really need the R model here for just the paint scheme?

the R version also has a quickshifter attached as stock equipment.

Also man. the cost of individual components added up will be more than the price difference between R version and the regular version.

Personally, I wouldn't go for the R version but you cant deny that its a good option for people who plan to ride it on track.

And if my memory is correct , honda was charging abt 70k extra for the repsol paintjob alone on its CBR 1000 RR.

          • I got this reply from triumph officials to my mail inquiring about the bike delivery schedules-

The special edition pain job is just white with an R. And as far as the Shock goes, doesn't make much difference is what I heard. If your looking for a fully fledged track machine, then why not invest individually on every part and get the best than spending more and then realizing that you will have to upgrade it again.

It's just my thought. I really do not think the R version is going to be launched here.

I admit Quickshifter is a good addition.

Can confirm the same here, same email down to the last word. Guess Ashish must be getting bombarded with emails .

I do hope they have some kind of process for registering outside the metros they are planning to sell in. One of the major gripes I had with Ducati, trying to get a monster registered in Pune...ended up not buying it ultimately.

Bikes are the same except the following:
Street Triple R has Daytona front forks
Street Triple R has reservoir-type adjustable shock @ rear
Street Triple R has Daytona front radial brakes
Street Triple R has different seat cover & position
Street Triple R has different paint colors and decals

So yes the extra little bit is well deserved.

I was under the impression that ex-showroom prices are same throughout, its the on-road price which should differ from state to state? Correct me if I am wrong.

                            • Yes, I think the additional R tag on a Triumph is well justified by its features mostly. But it might get a bit expensive when it comes to Daytona.

                              Daytona: GBP 8499
                              Daytona R: GBP 9999 (+1500 over Daytona)

Calculations: R version costs about GBP 1500 extra in UK. Which is Rs. 1,16,000 something. Plus, add some more amount as the tax by Indian Government. Look around Rs. 1.5-2 Lacs extra... (Ouch!)

I do hope that Triumph manage the R version's cost effectively. Or just provides the same performance accessories as officially installable options on a Daytona...
