First check out your future and then say something.Originally posted by Satyamzma View Postjust see at Bajaj Past...it's obvious they will discontinue old and go with new bikes

Bajaj is not going to do a plastic or sticker mod job on bikes that they need to remove the old stock first.
Its not Hero Moto!

And if the new bikes are completely new... both will stay.. and the newer ones are surely gonna be of higher rate.
And thus people with less money will go with earlier pulsars...
2000 - Hero Honda Splendor
2010 - Pulsar 220
2012 - Ninja 250R or CBR 250R (coming Up)

I am not assuming that new gen will not be costlier, i am providing both scenarios. And both ways its not possible...Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostYou are assuming that next gen Pulsar will not see any price rise or if it is costlier it cannot be called pulsar (don't know why!!) but, no one indicated that it's going to sell at the same price, now if Rajiv Bajaj's statement of "technology that is next level to motorcycles" is true, I would expect next gen pulsars to charge at least 5k premium over the existing ones! in that case both can co-exist.. also existing price gap between Disco 150/Pulsar 150 is around 15k.. so there is lot of room to maneuver pricing.
Its not feasible for a company to maintain 2 product line at 5-6 % price difference. And if its ~20% it has to be positioned as a different brand... Its not about wishes, it about business...

Such a nice way of reading content on the forum. All thanks to our Superb Moderators.
Now since this post is also OT. I ll report my own post. Lets see what happens.Advice is a form of nostalgia.

very well said +100 and more so if you see at bajaj history all previous versions were discontinued like Caliber,Discover, Pulsar,Boxer etc... and it's actually good to keep products latest..Originally posted by saurabh81 View PostI am not assuming that new gen will not be costlier, i am providing both scenarios. never heard Discovers and pulsars discontinued... be specific .. it might be particular versions not as a whole productOriginally posted by Satyamzma View Postvery well said +100 and more so if you see at bajaj history all previous versions were discontinued like Caliber,Discover, Pulsar,Boxer etc... and it's actually good to keep products latest..

the new pulsars when ever they come .. will again redefine the two wheeler segment. and as many said yes the old models will co-exists for some time .. and then will be phased out... so theoretically speaking both u and digital_surabhi are right
now the main interesting thing here is ..something Rajiv bajaj said ..like some ground breaking tech in engine first time in the world .. i am eagerly waiting to know wt it is .. although in anycase i won't buy pulsar..as i already made up my mind for something else.. still i am curious about the proposed changes in the new pulsars

Name some....Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostIt's pretty much possible and there are number of examples, just look around!!
It doesn't happens any where in the world to keep an existing and a new version of a product in 5-6% price range...
Its always good have new refreshing products making way thru existing products. All companies do it around the world...Last edited by saurabh81; 11-07-2011, 04:04 PM.

The current Pulsar's have been like that for a decade now. Just minor tweaks. They can't be a HH and keep using the same 100cc Honda engine with new stickers for a century. Some of the Happiest people in the world don't have everything. They just make the best of everything life brings their way !!! Stay happy, Smile always :)

Come again? Minor tweaks?!
DTSi, DTSF-i, from 150/180 to 220, tubeless tires, digital console, 3 piece handlebar, rear disc brake, oil cooled,to name some; list is endless, most of them being segment first. I respect Bajaj for the R&D. No other auto maker in India does as much as they do.Avoid Spamming!
