Don't bother converting the numbers. Bikes in Malaysia (and even Singapore) are quite expensive compared to prices in Thailand or India. I've lived there so I know

To quote from the same article:
It has been announced by Dato' SM Faisal, the President Executive of Naza himself that the model come with the net price of RM59k which is very attractive price!
For your comparison the CBR 250R is sold in Malaysia close to an equivalent of 3.5lakhs (for non-abs). So you can imagine the differences. Though its not a straight mathematics to derive the prices here, it will be much lower than in Malaysia.

Monster 796 was for RM9995 and was for INR 750000 in India byt that logic it means that the Monster 795 priced at RM 5999 should be about INR 450150.075!

    Nice!
I think you missed a '0' in the price of 796. Its definitely not that cheap! RM9995 equates to about 1.6 lakhs

The 796 is 9.5 lacs onrd mum. Going by their price difference in Malayia the 795 should cost approximately 6 lacs her. Just hope Ducati India gets it here for that much.

My guesstimate would also be around the 6L mark. That should be the approximate ex. showroom price for this beauty.

Biking in India is looking sweeter by the day. 2011 truly has been a year of change for big bikes in India.

          Monster fan

But the Monster is not going to be here until January 2012. I guess they want to launch it at the Delhi autoexpo...not sure though.

My major worries are the Desmo valve and the maintenance. Ducati manual says a service interval of 12000 kilometers after the first service. Is that possible? And dude, I know this for sure, that a Ducati is nothing like a Japanese inline four - less BHP at same CC, but more flat torque curve. Plus that amazing sound of a Ducati revving......

              Hey Srikeerthi,

Slight OT: Any tip on the CBR600F? referring to your and MG's post in "2011 bike speculation thread" about the probable tests of Honda middle weights.

              response would be highly appreciated.

I started riding the Monster 796 in India after a gap of 4 years though I used to rent inline 4s during my outstations trips for short period. If you have the fundamentals right, this is the best bike you can get. Just remember that its slightly unforgiving than the Japs. As in, it likes to be kept in the right power band to extract the best out of it (no pulling the engine from 40kmph in 5th/6th gear and that kind of stuff) and maintenance.

Its very much debatable. I don't think anyone will have a concrete answer for that one. I've personally found the rides on my Monster more involving than the i-4s but my personal best is the i-3. But then again, see my signature

Its very much possible provided you don't tinker around with the bike a lot. Maybe you can change oil and oil filter, clean the air filter around mid way mark i.e 6000 kms. Keep on cleaning, lubing and adjusting the chain every 500 kms, and I see no reason why you will invite trouble.
Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one. And most of them are full of shit.

Thanks for the input . I am seriously considering the Monster as an option, the other two options are the N650 and GT650R. I saw both (as also harleys and suzukis and yamaha) but fell in love only with the Ducatis. I was not aware of the powerband issue, so thanks for enlightening me.

It completely depends on your own personality, I think. Plus, a bike should speak to you. The moment I sat on the 796, I felt it in my bones, felt the bike screaming ride me, ride me . The only other bike I felt such an attraction for were GSX1000R and Hayabusa (both too powerful, too expensive). The Honda might last you 20 years, but it is the Ducati with which you would like to spend your whole life with. My opinion .

My thoughts exactly... the swingarm is still ok, but the plain jane 3 spoke wheels just kill the overall looks of the bike.
