795 = 696
Ok, so I was browsing through my motorcycle wallpaper collection when I had too much of late night work and tomorrow's work deadline tension when I realized that the new 795 for the Asian market is actually the 2008-09 Monster 696. Did anyone else notice this? Look at the chrome handlebars, the two-sided swingarm and the thinner tyre and three spoke wheels. Ducati packaging old wine in new bottle (or rather new wine in old bottle to cut down costs). My observation....tch,tch!!

Well it has the 796 engine and the same power/torque as the 796. And its supposedly cheap so seems like a good deal.Originally posted by Siddharth Jodh View PostOk, so I was browsing through my motorcycle wallpaper collection when I had too much of late night work and tomorrow's work deadline tension when I realized that the new 795 for the Asian market is actually the 2008-09 Monster 696. I would expect such a "good deal" maybe from the Japanese big four or American companies. But from an iconic Italian marquee, never. Plus cutting costs by sacrificing the big, bad a** rear wheel with single sided swingarm is just cheap. I just think that they could have done better.

Spotted a Ducati 795 (red color) in Pune. Looks amazing, looks more amazing in the night with the red shine.
Wish i could have sighted it in a parking lot, but alas, it was at a busy intersection.
The sound is impressive and it really looks tiny!! (/nimble to steer) and since it has no fairing, it looks smaller than the ZMA.

What!! where? I thought it wasn't coming until January next year. Is it here already??
About the tiny looks, sit on one and then compare it to the ZMA. the ZMA is fully faired, the Monster is almost completely stripped down naked bike.

you are confused dear sir.Originally posted by Siddharth Jodh View PostI would expect such a "good deal" maybe from the Japanese big four or American companies. As confused as RBI on the measures to control inflation.
The double sided swing arm is good. No one in racing uses a single sided swing arm. It is one of those gull wing door equivalent of biking invention that serves no practical purpose. Just looks cool. And as apple has shown the world being cool costs extra. Unless you are a surfboarder.
So as far as i can see a 6 lakh ducati with same power/weight ratio as 796, and am guessing the same suspension setup at 40 percent off is nothing to be cribbed about.
And in case you have the monies, there is the 848 streetfighter or 848 evo. exponentially cooler than the 796 at prices you can boast off at a wine tasting function at India Habitat Centre.

, at least not as much. If you thought the gull wing door was a useless invention, guess why Mercedes used them in their new supercar, the SLS AMG, a few years ago. And they are Germans. Do you know about the suicide doors (which open in opposite directions) in rolls royces? Just an example. According to me, design is an element of functionality and functionality is an element of design.
The earlier wheels and the single sided swingarm of the Monster just looked really nice and separated it from the crowd.
I am planning to buy it some time next year, and I am literally breaking my bones to earn the money.
Don't have the monies to buy the streetfighter or the 848 superbike, and never been to Indian Habitat Center...
Anyone have any idea of the pricing for 848 streetfighter??
