It's too early to conclude anything, but Duke 200 is the perfect anti-thesis to CBR250 in every sense. CBR250 is faired, very civilised and matured in character, on the other hand Duke 200 appears to be naked, young & brash in character. The site mentions "punchy, incredibly torquey", that to me should translate to "piss in your pants" kind of initial take off! it's going to be fun.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post200 Duke - Technical Details - KTM
So, (given fuel weight = 0.7 kgs/litre) wet weight with fuel is around 132 kgs and oils can be very dense... so its still within 135 kgs wet anyways.
Has this machine just out-spec'ed CBR 250 in terms of power, power to weight, weight itself, tyres, brakes, front suspension, pricing maybe, console info maybe, ground clearance ....??
Damn, Where does CBR stand?
CC, top speed, fuel capacity and torque, is that it?
Well, instead of concluding anything, I'll let it come first... But its really intimidating right now spec wise...
On the face of it, looks like Duke 200 got almost everything going for it.. except the lack of ABS, which again is point of huge debate. Now, I only wish Bajaj to price it around 1.5 lakhs!!Last edited by vrugonnab; 11-09-2011, 01:11 AM.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

^ +1 about the entire post.
BTW I just wanted to compare Bore-Stroke specs of the 2 bikes:
Duke 125 Bore x Stroke: 58 x 47 mm
Duke 200 Bore x Stroke: 72 x 49 mm (+ 14mm, + 2mm)
With Duke 125 already a high revver making max power @ 10,500 rpm, the 200cc has 14mm bigger bore and 2mm bigger stroke... Even bigger bore?
Only time will tell what the result's going to be?---

Looks like red-line will start from 13k or 14k RPM.
Peak RPM will be around 12k RPM.
At the same time secondary gear ratio is 14:43, bike is going to have awesome acceleration.Last edited by lockhrt999; 11-09-2011, 02:02 AM.

i think this bike is more ample for stunting....this much torque & less weight means popping a wheelie is a piece a cake

^^^ high octane fuels are a topic of big debates. Recommended 95 octane may not be mandatory!! however, I believe 93 octane is available in some stations. Anyone has info about 95 octane being sold anywhere??Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

Two variants, "Speed 93" and "Speed 97", were launched, with RON values of 93 and 97Originally posted by vrugonnab View Post^^^ high octane fuels are a topic of big debates. but not easy to find petrol stations having it
but mandatory or not, to enjoy maximum power without knocking, quality fuel is a must. Otherwise the actual performance will remain in papers only

At 125 Kgs dry weight, we can probably add another 10-12 kgs for the fuel + oil which should make the kerb weight not more than 135-137 Kgs.
Even at 135-137 Kgs, the 200 Duke is lighter than the CBR250R by around 30 Kgs..!!!
With both the CBR250R and the 200 Duke making 25 bhp the power to weight ratio of the 200 Duke is explosive.
Would miss the ABS but the 200 Duke now will definitely be my next bike.

Petroleum & engine oil are not as heavy as water.. so even though you fill 10 litres.. it will probably add 7kgs to the weight. But yeah, with these kind of specs, Duke 200 looks really intimidating on paper.Originally posted by payeng View PostAt 125 Kgs dry weight, we can probably add another 10-12 kgs for the fuel + oil which should make the kerb weight not more than 135-137 Kgs.

Won't it be "de-tuned" for "India"?Originally posted by payeng View Post

If not, then I think I might have just got a perfect replacement for my 220!_________________________

As far as I can recollect what I heard, it would neither have 18 nor have 25 bhp. It should be 22.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Considering the high compression ratio(12.6:1) the 125 Duke runs, there is a good chance that 200 Duke will be de-tuned for the indian market. I will be happy with something around 22-23 bhpOriginally posted by Praful View PostWon't it be "de-tuned" for "India"?

As long as the engine is capable to put out 25.. I think we have people around who fix the 'de-tuning' issueOriginally posted by samschenker View PostConsidering the high compression ratio(12.6:1) the 125 Duke runs, there is a good chance that 200 Duke will be de-tuned for the indian market.
