Man I'm waiting for this bike like crazy....
Spoke to a Probiking Dealer today...they told me that December is the month we should place our bets on (If not for the launch which is most likely in Jan at the Auto Expo, but at least for some solid news on the specs and pricing)...I'm counting dayz !!!
The Bajaj KTM Duke 200 introduced in Brazil has four color options, white, grey, black and the traditional orange.Last edited by joydas_1; 10-31-2011, 08:08 PM.Don't Ride because you 'Have to'...Ride because you "Want to" !!!

Read this about the Specs somewhere:
The Bajaj KTM Duke 200 features 45mm upside own forks, 17-inch wheels, 110 section front tyres, 150 section rear tyres, Trellis frame, monoshock suspension and is expected to be available in two colours at launch, orange and green. The 200 cc engine is expected to produce power in the tune of 22-24 BHP with ample amount of torque. Weighing in at 140 kgs, the Duke 200 is expected to be a Monster to ride. And yes, the next generation Pulsars are also arriving with the Duke 200.
Although these are 125 Pics...I couldn't stop myself from sharing these with those of you who haven't yet seen what the 200 could look most similar to...enjoy !!!Last edited by joydas_1; 10-31-2011, 08:02 PM.Don't Ride because you 'Have to'...Ride because you "Want to" !!!

Dear SatadelOriginally posted by payeng View PostThis (200 Duke) is the first product from an exotic foreign brand that has been co-developed in India (KTM + Bajaj), manufactured in India (in Chakan, Pune) to cater to the quality concious developed markets and also to emerging markets like ours..
... as a bonus we (Indians) get exotics like upside down front forks, trellis frame, chunky aluminium swingarm etc. without having to pay import duties.
[B]In short, one can own this Baby Duke and ride with pride with the knowledge that it has been made with "desi" effort, brains and enterprise. That makes the Baby Duke very special than any other "firangi" bikes in India.
I admire u coz u have enlightened us through your blogs, pl dont take this negatively.
As u may have experienced or known Indian companies have no expertise or knowledge in developing these products coz we dont have History in producing these products and coming this from bajaj (when they launched pulsar back then the hot topic was from whom they lifted the tank if u remember). the products u mentioned above are being manufactured by Endurance (which is owned by Bajajs kin) so this guys just take all the stuff from outside(KTM engg) turn it into desi version (called as Value addition and value Engineering in their terms) so bluntly u can call it as a copy.
Also please note that all the cables, electricals, plastics are developed by Endurance/Minda so expect some issues (although i know KTM had laid down stringent test methods to validate their products) did u notice the rear rim has rim balance weight to balance Rim runout (till date have never seen that on any Foreign brand bikes), the only parts barring Engine,Swing arm,Suspension (although high rear suspension travel means more pressure on the rims and tyres) and gear box the rest of the parts seem squidgy.
If they are running this on Mules the productions bikes are gonna have lot of those issues which most of the guys on this forum are Unaware of and given the RIM cost and the riding conditions it will be tough for guys to keep up with that kind of power to offer by this bike and to keep them planted.
regards
Sid

I don't understand what it means. Could you elaborate it a bit more?Originally posted by sidmclaren View Postdid u notice the rear rim has rim balance weight to balance Rim runout (till date have never seen that on any Foreign brand bikes

just check the rims of a pulsar..u could find a steel weight attached to both sides of the rim..when i asked the showroom guys..they said that, it the rim balancer to allaign the rim...but dont know whether it is present on foreign bikes.....i've been riding my bike without it for more than 1 yearOriginally posted by lockhrt999 View PostI don't understand what it means. The RIM balancer is present in my GT650 as well as my Lancer. I do not understand what made you think that the rim balance weight cannot handle high speed. I have done almost 200kmph in my bike and yes it feels planted as a rock. Can you tell me how many times you have witnessed/heard crashes due to a weight added on the rim?
It is very funny that people comment whatever they like. You people just blame everything that the Indian companies do. Be it hero/TVS/Bajaj/Mahindra. You yourself doesnt believe in what the people in the country can do or capable of even if they try to do it. It also resembles what you are capable of as an individual. and the amount of confidence you have on yourself. If it is any foreign brand you all go gaga over it and sing about quality/refinement/technology/etc.. if that is flawed then you say that it is just one product that is flawed the rest are still great..
IMHO, the one who blames their own country's capablilty is because they feel they themselves are not capable of anything.MJ

my issue is not with performance but with quality and the weight balance is added on the rims coz during manufacturing the assymetry in the wheel rim which can cause wobble or lateral movement now this specific wheel balances are places opposite to the mass imbalance in the wheel rim and if u observe closely this mass balancer weight are just clipped on to the wheel rim but if they fall then u cant predict what may come (have u heard HH Karima ZMR wheel rims breaking up in harsh environments?) and for ur own steeds i cant comment it depends on lot of things
Also since this bike is slated to be a off road bike/city bike the rims have to be on the mark now if u r offroading the balance weights come off and wheeels wobble
Hope u get it

Regarding the weights, so far no one has had any complaints with them on their Karizmas. Let the 200 Duke hit the roads first before you raise doubts about the road worthiness of parts from "endurance", "minda" and whatever...
City Bike = YesOriginally posted by sidmclaren View PostAlso since this bike is slated to be a off road bike/city bike the rims have to be on the mark now if u r offroading the balance weights come off and wheeels wobble
Off Road Bike = Nope
Just because its a KTM does't mean that it's meant for dirt (unless you mean the kind of off road we do on our Pulsars/Karizmas/FZ's).Last edited by xPolice; 11-01-2011, 04:02 PM.

lol... These thready go from Funny to Funnier with each passing day! About 50 years ago, a small piano manufacturing company figured thier experience in Metals and 'Copied' a small machine and made a bike called as YA1. It was a copied machine, but it won more awards than its original version. 50 years later this company is one of the BIG 2wheelers giant.
How many years experience does BAL-KTM have again?
And whats wrong in copying as long as the end product can kick some butt?Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more
