I'm just wondering what's the fuss all about . As in what makes this bike so great as compared to the other imports we've received/receiving. I feel the greatness should shine out in a touring bike, cause we already have all the power we need for the streets.

When R15/ RTR can be taken for tours, then I'm damn sure a KTM can do the job slightly better only, not any less. It has the essentials covered- good tyres, chassis, weight, etc, etc.

BTW In our country, fast bikes automatically become great tourers.
Hehe I agree. But like I mentioned above, why are people gaga over this one? Its a genuine doubt. I might be missing something. Say if you have to compare it to cbr 250 which would be around just a few Ks more in price.

This (200 Duke) is the first product from an exotic foreign brand that has been co-developed in India (KTM + Bajaj), manufactured in India (in Chakan, Pune) to cater to the quality concious developed markets and also to emerging markets like ours..

... as a bonus we (Indians) get exotics like upside down front forks, trellis frame, chunky aluminium swingarm etc. without having to pay import duties.

In short, one can own this Baby Duke and ride with pride with the knowledge that it has been made with "desi" effort, brains and enterprise. That makes the Baby Duke very special than any other "firangi" bikes in India.

Desi effort?! Other than switches on the handlebar, I am sure there isn't any desi effort! It's a pure KTM!

R&D might be pure KTM, but the people who're making this bike right now (and exporting it to countries like Europe) are Indian people. Our people are getting employment. And we'll be getting this bike at lesser cost than a similar imported bike would cost.

Why should we import? Why not export exotic stuff and obviously be proud about it? Yes, Made in India, with persistence, pride and passion!

For those who have not kept up with times [Link: http://www.mydigitalfc.com/news/ktm-...ope-debut-181]

The bike has been jointly developed by Bajaj Auto and KTM and is manufactured by Bajaj Auto at its Chakan plant near Pune.

Its manufactured in my country and exported to the world (developed and emerging) and that to me is a matter of great pride.

If there is still a doubt, then get a high resolution image of the KTM 125 Duke to ckeck out: That the tyres are from MRF, the brakes from Bybre (Brembo + KBX), Endurance has a technical tie up with WP suspension, and yes the back lit switches.

Samarth, be proud of exporting the exotic stuff when it is an "Indian" product..I hope you got my point! There's hardly anything Indian in the upcoming KTM other than that it's manufactured here and the tiny tit-bits! You don't have to go all mushy-mushy about it!

Apart from being manufactured in Chakan, Pune. The 125/200 Duke has been "co-developed" by KTM with Bajaj R&D.
Now what is there in the above sentence that you don't understand..??

What part of "KTM" Duke 125/200 did Bajaj develop?! Engine, chassis..?! See, the Duke might be manufactured here, I know that like everyone else! But Bajaj definitely didn't put any brains in its R&D. Bajaj is learning. It's KTM all the way.
