You must have done 10.5 krpm's in lower gears, not in 6th. A modified R15 can touch rev-limiter in 6th gear though.
First of all. Stock R15 only hits 10002 rpm. There's a 498rpm error on the tacho, to be precise.

Second. A very long slope and some tailwind is sufficient to peak out in 6th on stock bike, its an added bonus if you weigh less. Even then 140-145kph is very much possible on a decline. I have hit 148-149kph a few times with the rev limiter kicking in 6th on my previously stock R15. But its not easy getting there every time on a stock R15.

Anyway this thread is about the KTM. So lets get back to topic!

    • Tooo much impressed. The finishing looks quite up to mark(in the pics). It might be such an awesome experience to ride it, slicing through the traffic and revving it on the highways. With the weight and power ratio, no doubt the bike stuntmen are going to love. It looks 'perfect'

I don't think starightline line top speed should matter for a naked/street bike. The primary ability should be quick acceleration, nimble, and easy to maneuver which the duke is great at.

0-60 kph and 0-100 kph in a claimed 3.3 seconds and 9-odd seconds, and a top speed of 135 kph as claimed by BS motoring review.

There is also the zigwheels review link posted in previous pages and wait for EOD for the much awaited XBHP review to put all speculations to rest.

I think its better to accept and enjoy the duke as it is.

            • With the ride reports it looks like the bike will top at 135 or there abouts!!

I guess the reason is because of the rev limiter at 10K rpm...

So in the overall sense 0-60 in 3.3 secs, 0-100 - 9+ secs and top speed of 135 true is good for a 200cc!!

But for all the hype and the astounding power to weight ratio!! It just doesnt live up to the hype.....

It is clearly beyond Ninja and CBR in speed.... May not be in handling though...

              Happy riding

+1 How can someone not know this
If you want to safely overcome this limitation, buy the daytona ECU from me

I hope the xbhp review makes clear comparison of the bike against the existing competition..
PM me for Daytona Racing ECU for the R15

was this error deliberate or common with every manufactures? yammie has done a deliberate tachometer error of about 8%, ie 1300 rounds more to advertise its 2006 R6 to have 17,500 rpm redline on the tacho. later admitted and offered to buy back any R6 if the customer was unhappy.something you cant expect in India
and is there any other bike which has got peak power and redlined at same rpm?

                        @ Samarth 619

Considering your example R15 does hit 10500 rpm in 6th gear before hitting RevLimitter n it does not Reach 150 kmph 70000kms on R15 did 10500rpm more thn a 100 times it neva reached 150kmph !

I own a CBR as well same case 170 kmph ...it wont ever

"There is no ideal condition in real world "

I agree but a machine in good state of tune is very much near ideal. there is a slight diffrence but not considerable. Go youtube, there are many videos of r15's hitting 145+ above 10000 rpm. And none of the bikes you mentioned hit rev limiter in 6th gear.

We're all on the same boat Naveen and everyone's waiting for the review before posting their opinions or ideas about the machine.

but this is actually getting onto my nerves..I actually had a dream about the KTM last night and was excited about the review...which is now ruining my excitement
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.
