    Yes i know , but seeing the dearth of option in our country the cubic capacity & the price point is what we have to look for comparison stakes.

    I am also quite surprised and taken aback with Rahul Bajaj's comments on the performance comparison with the CBR 250R. Even Bajaj is taking the cc/pricing as the key to the comparison irrespective of the segment.

      That would be Rajiv Bajaj. Rahul Bajaj is the senior Bajaj and his dad.

      About the comment, maybe because he knows the desi mentality all too well..

      • Can we at least get a ETA on the review so we can all stop scavenging for the thread and other websites every hour....??

        • @ the_mechanic: Yes, Lockhrt999 is very much correct.

          Yes, the R15 will do 150 kmph IF AND ONLY IF you reach 10,000 rpm in top gear. And even CBR will do those speeds, again IF you reach that rpm in top gear. (BUT YOU WON'T in either case).

          Duke is currently rumoured to be touching the rev limiter (10 krpm) in top gear. That's why Lockhrt mentioned 11,000 rpm because that might be possible, if rev limiter is extended.
          And he's very much correct on the math there, although maybe "clutch drag" affects these figures at a micro degree...

          And guys, many of you said Short gearing means more gear shifts? This is wrong. Short gearing means gearing focussed towards acceleration. Such gearing will maintain low speeds in high gears, so you might not need to downshift often, on the road atleast.
          Biggest example: FZ16.

          "Close Ratios" means more gearshifts. It means less difference in gearing values between individual gears. These are 2 different things.

              Appaluse Samarth bro.. I would have used these two words interchangeably. Now I won't, thanks to you.

                  Aww! Anyway eagerly waiting for the report. Will hold on to my horses until tomorrow afternoon!

                  Would appreciate if someone from your team could at least tell us how did it sound - a nice deep roar? or close to P220?

                  And if someone can confirm/deny this ---> booking starts after 20th dec, official launch is on 3rd jan and deliveries after 10th jan!

                    • "Focussed street hooligan"- sounds like my next bike . Should be utterly practical and fun to ride. That is ALL that matters to me. Can count on Varad's words.
                      You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........

                      • how much of an upgrade would it be from a P220? I guess I should wait for a TD. Guess the Duke350 or ninja or new pulsars might be a better option for me. but i love the bike !

                          going by formula you gave..

                          speed = c*RPM*r/(r1*r2)

                          where c= 00595

                          now lets simplify this..

                          speed = RPM * ((c*r)/(r1*r2))

                          now if the gear is unchanged (suppose we're riding on 6th gear only)
                          the only variable values will be speed and RPM. and transmission gear ratio, rear axle ratio, loaded tire radius will be constant for same gear.

                          so speed = RPM * K ...where K = (c*r)/(r1*r2) which is a constant (for same gear)

                          Hence be proved: speed is directly propostional to rpm.

                          example:

                          1st. A bike is moving at 'x' speed @5000 rpm
                          2nd. same bike is moving at 'y' speed @10000 rpm

                          going by what we evaluated above y will be double of x in ideal conditions.
                          " There is no ideal condition in real world "

                          @ Samarth 619

                          Considering your example R15 does hit 10500 rpm in 6th gear before hitting RevLimitter n it does not Reach 150 kmph 70000kms on R15 did 10500rpm more thn a 100 times it neva reached 150kmph !

                          I own a CBR as well same case 170 kmph ...it wont ever

                                No, R15 in stock condition can never touch rev limiter in 6th gear. Unless there is a magical downhill and the rider's decided on suicide, or if the rider has depressed the clutch a little while accelerating.

                                You must have done 10.5 krpm's in lower gears, not in 6th. A modified R15 can touch rev-limiter in 6th gear though.
