That's perfectly ok, because very rarely can production bikes touch the rev limiter in top gear. Abroad, only CB1000R and "maybe" Z1000 also, touch the rev limiter in top gear.Originally posted by MeTaL_MaNiaC View PostHighly possible.
+1; cant agree more.
Does it also mean that it has a lot more potential left after the rev limiter (if unrestricted)? (i ask this because even the faired cbr250r is not able to hit the rev limiter in 6th gear in ideal conditions) and that may indicate the different character of the duke 200?
On current gearing, it obviously has more potential for speed if rev limiter is removed. But that will just stress the engine if someone revs it hard.
So, A better idea (currently) is to over-gear it to the normal levels, and let rev limiter remain about 1000 rpm above the maximum power point, as its a street engine and doesn't need all that overrun.

Mods.. have you guys done the test ride and only thing remaining is posting it here ??
or
you will be testing it in a couple of days..??
i am expecting a raise this month..

what a coincidence.
i have a doubt: isn't it that short gearing means frequent gear shifts.?Last edited by princesirohi; 12-05-2011, 06:01 PM.

for the part in bold..yes, it does mean more frequent gear shifts than regular bikes. so lets say if the R15 does 40kmph in 1st gear at around 9k rpm(just an estimate)..and R15 with short gearing would do maybe 30 or 35kmph or whatever(depending on gearing) but it'll be less than 40kmph..but in turn..it would sure be faster ..
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Awaiting the Topspeed reports now.
Your right with CBR, but Ninja does 0-60 in 3 secs, so it still cant catch a Ninja!! Also the CBR's tested are ABS versions with 6 kgs extra, so the non abs, with that much less weight, would be doing it in 3.3 secs atleast Im sure.....
So that way its not anything new for Indian biking scene in performance...
The key is pricing... If they price it close to CBR (non abs), then the excitement could fade away.. coz CBR is with full fairing and is suitable for touring and looks apart for a full faired bike fans!!
Having fingers crossed for a good price for the Duke...
Happy riding....

Just an assumption, lets wait for the final news from the manufacturer...

Duke 125 (the non restricted version) can do 125 k/h genuine top speed with 15bhp power with the rpm being same!!
You guys say 130-135 as the top speed on Duke 200, totally unacceptable....... the new pulsar 200+ will do no less than 135-140 let alone Duke!!!
Im very sure that the top speed is no less than 150!!

Happy Riding

Keep in mind "short gearing", fast acceleration..top speed was not kept in mind while making it a fast accelerating bikeOriginally posted by pravin.murthy View PostDuke 125 (the non restricted version) can do 125 k/h genuine top speed with 15bhp power with the rpm being same!!
