[QUOTE=Rajathslr;767973]They did come out with an "announcement" before they started giving out the "token" numbers saying --> guys there is an announcement to make, the booking amount is 20k.Originally posted by Shubz View Post^^
Shubz...i think u were 1 of the 1st few members to book an PBK indiranagar..
Did they ask to to pay 20k as the booking amt, instead of 30K ?
I immediately went to the store guy and told him - Now don't ask us to go back and come with 20k DD's. At first he was unsure but quickly recomposed himself and said - Those who have brought 30k as DD, we will accept it.

14 Front & 43 Rear (4 fitment holes) on .520 Chain Pitch.Originally posted by vishnukuttan1988 View Postyes i saw that...but was confused.....and not sure whether they will provide those in India for ktm200..
and any idea what will be the stock size of sprocket..??
Theoritically, a Karizma rear (40T) or P200 rear (38T) seems like a possible direct fit. But will have to confirm this.
Duke 125 is a speed regulated bike (due to learner restrictions) and hence, has not much scope for small rear sprockets, as its electronic restriction of 62 mph (100 kmph) meant no top speed improvements at all.
Cruising improvements for the Mini Duke are not that necessary for the European market.
The Indian Powerparts section is still empty, but it says coming soon:

Thanks for taking the time to put that down. At least, there appears to be a cause-effect situation, and the dealer chose to react in the way he has.Originally posted by NikhilB View PostShrek,
I booked at the KJmarg showroom too and have been bugging them about the Duke since November
I'll try to narrate my understanding of the situation.
Bookings were originally scheduled for 3rd Jan (or thereabouts) and had to be cancelled. Were postponed to 24th Jan.
This time it was confirmed, with details like booking amount (30k) and time (1pm onwards) also being confirmed.
On the morning of 24th, the showroom got a mail from the company (this is the showroom's version of the story) that bookings have been postponed to the 1st of Feb. Now, this guy had more than 300 enquiries for the Duke in his register.
He realised that he cannot call and inform everyone in time, so started sending out SMSes using the phones of every employee in the showroom.
Some customers got the SMS after they reached the showroom (I got it just before I left for the showroom) and they started creating havoc there (Should've been informed earlier!, etc.).
To pacify them, he starts accepting post-dated cheques and said that he would make the receipts on the 1st and then scan and courier the receipts. He wasn't giving out any acknowledgement for the PDC, so it's the customer's risk. (If I were in his place, I definitely would've done the same)
Since he was already accepting PDCs, anyone who called there was told that they could give give PDCs. (this was fair!)
I'm assuming that they can make the entry in their system only from the 1st of Feb and hence could not give out booking numbers. And since they had a backlog of PDCs, it would not have been possible for them to give out booking nos. to customers booking post 1st Feb. (Assuming, some might have cancelled the PDCs after the 200NS launch)
By the way, after the launch of the 200NS, the company reduced the booking amount to 20k (this is decided by the company, not the dealers).
All in all, I personally feel that the situation was handled very well by the showroom (can't say the same for the company).
PS: I frankly don't care much for the sales and service experience. If the bike is reliable, I have to deal with them only a couple of times a year. That is a cost I'm ready to pay to own a good bike.
However, considering his bookings register was sizeable before mid-Jan, this leaves me even more doubtful of my position in the booking queue. I'm sure the company is not going to be pleased at this, but it doesn't look like they are bothered. The Duke is here and its here to stay!
Checked the bike out on the 1st of feb,
a glance up, close and personal.
First impression, its nothing like
the bike in the photos. The
overall length is too small. Looks
alot......small. The tank is huge.
Big. Large. The photos are
deceptive. The tank is indeed
massive. There's bybre
everywhere. The turn signal
indicators are really "cute". The
headlamp is a class apart. The
texture of the seat is quite grippy.
The rider's seat is quite spacious,
gives enough room for
movement. Will hold your ass
good. The rear seat, however, is
amazingly tiny. Not meant for
touring at all. You need to be
averagely tall for this one.
Praveen, this thing is so not for
you. Anuj, however might find it
interesting. The small rear seat is
a put off and it falls in the same
category as the R15, "Arrive
Alone". Note, the suspension is
too soft (? or was it only on the
display ride). The sitting posture is
nice and comfortable. At 5'10",
my legs fit perfectly. The exhaunst
(had to hunt it) is at the belly and
quite a damage prone. The tyres
are soft compound. And wont
last the Himalayan trips, if any of
you might wonder.
The pegs are weirdly placed way
too sportily & the rear pegs are a
tad bit uncomfortably high.
The exhaust note is "flat"and
"tiny". I like it.
The instrument cluster is small. It
seems big in the photos, I know.
Deceptive again.
The saree guard is so not ugly.
Really nice,it looks.
There's alot of plastic higlighting
on it, from the rear mudguard to
the tank, a little too much. The
trellis frame is black, unlike the
traditional Orange, and gives
quite a rigid appeal.
Bottomline, its a street bike.
Nothing even remotely close to
an off-roader as how some stupid
biking blogs claim it to be.
Test rides weren't allowed.
Waiting for one, eagerly.
The bike so far is pretty
impressive. Deserves the respect
of a biker.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______

I booked the bike at KTM, connaught place on sunday in the evening. Though I had to convince him, took the test drive first and then booked. However for the guys who booked, they didn't hesitate to give the test drive.Originally posted by Debashish View PostAnd still no test rides.
- I asked them about the no. of bookings till date, they said 15-odd, at that particular showroom.
Surprising, considering this is one of the two showrooms in Delhi, and Delhi reported 120+ on the first day itself. So, either I am mistaken or they are. Can someone shed any light on this? - They say that since I am the first customer at their showroom, I may expect a delivery in early March
, but, even after pushing a bit, couldn't get any concrete info about delivery. - Accessories - Few accessories(Powerwear) like KTM branded riding gear, helmets etc. may be available at showrooms when the bike deliveries start. But, KTM Powerparts will be available only at Bajaj service centers, as will be the spare parts.
- Servicing - Can be done at any Bajaj service center.
Can anyone confirm this? Though, they did say that the pro-biking service centers would be better equipped to handle it.
1. They told me, 26th bike to be booked is mine including vasant Kunj. 3 more were booked just after mine.
2. Delivery : they said be patient, they will surprise us !
3. Accessories may be just the riding gear and stickers for the bike. Nothing confirmed. Rest would depend on feedback they get from consumers.

Yup. Cause-effect, describes the situation perfectly.Originally posted by shrek View PostThanks for taking the time to put that down. At least, there appears to be a cause-effect situation, and the dealer chose to react in the way he has.

Also, 300+ was the number of inquiries, not bookings. Although, the showroom did confirm that they got a sizable number of bookings before 1st Feb.
Retrospectively speaking, the showroom could've handled it better. But, I think they handled it pretty well considering the level of heat they were facing from the customers on the 24th. (I was there on the 24th and looked like the staff would be beaten up by the angry customers)
In the end, don't be disheartened by a couple of weeks delay. Look forward to the thousands of kms with the bike

lol - That could be total bull****! Just to pacify the agitated crowd. I hope he really meant what he said! But I still regret that though I was given the 1st number - "7" - someone wasn't happy and pushed me down the line
But that's life!
