I don't think it can do 165 with that weight.
Keeping in mind, the GT we get here is a detuned one

Exactly. And we are Indians, do keep that in mind. Just buying a Ninja is not a very good proposition for an "average joe" why? Ask a Ninja owner how much he pays aftermath expenses, and you'll know why.

That's where localization comes into play, every single biker, would be happy to pay handsomely for his first bike, but gripes only when the service bills hits his head straight on. So...even without that perpetual need for localization.... he is doomed or good.

        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

        THE END

I mean..leave ninja...this 3lakh+ overweight bike has nothing other than its big size to boast for...also shockin is that the quality and fit & finish of the bike is below par...KTM duke outperforms this one in the performance department...damn..!!..god save hyosung & DSK...

Hyosung was fully aware that it needs to price this bike well in order to attract a good number of customers but still the price it comes out with is 2.75 Lakh. So, could it be that this is the best price that they could offer coming via CKD? May be there was just not good margin below this price point? Otherwise, wouldn't Bajaj have priced Ninja lower if there was a possibility?

Well.. wish the price was lesser by at least Rs. 25K.. Probably it's not possible with the bike being made in Korea and assembled in India.

Hope someday they start making it in India (KTM 200 Duke style).

yeah...that maybe right. this could be the least possible pricing else ninja could also be price lower...keep in mind that both are CKD import

But on the high side, there are a lot of youngsters with enough moolah waiting to lay their hands on this quarter little machine.

Big looks, sexy color, superb fairing, all this adds to the oomph factor of the bike. Though it's priced a little on the high side, as antz said, localization is the key to reducing the ownership aftermath expenses. Ninja's parts are all sourced overseas and that's the price we pay for.

The reason DSK is planning to increase the outlets if you examine carefully is not only for sales, but also mass centralization, the more the outlets, the more the sales, more sales equals potential localization which in many ways can benefit the seller and the buyer.

All that being said, let's see what this has to offer and how the sales ticks up the boxes.

                    Cheers!

a lot of online reviews have mentioned that they have done 160 kmph with still some scope left. remember it is a V-twin and a high revving engine.

thats should be the way forward. and make india as a base and export to other countries as well.

i think more than burning the bum, we should be concerned about what it will do to engine internals, without efficient colling, wear and tear will increase etc etc, we have been riding air+oil cooled bikes since ages and we know what happens to a bike if the rider has a habit of always ripping his bike. atleast my next bike will be LC. really tired of topping up my oil every now and then.

btw, i am really interested to know, if this bike has recieved any significant upgrades in terms of engine/gearbox/chasis since it was launched way back as comet apart from carb to FI.

The 'informed' segment is a tiny one. Out of this tiny segment, there are people who want the "Sporty" ergonomics. This is way sporty than the CBR or the Ninja. Some tiny market there

Out of the Not so informed segment (which mind you is HUGE!)
This has the looks, sounds well too, and can be easliy mistaken for a BIG bike. So pappus pappa can now save a massive 10Lakh rupees and gift him a GT instead of a Gixxer. Some market here too!
                        Very rightly said.
For the matter of fact for "Not so informed" segment , the sales guy can perform his task just by mentioning that - " It has a V-Twin engine which is there in Harley Davidson bikes"
This much only can do the job for "Not so informed" guys

What were the guys at Hyosung smoking? This could be the reason why Garware quit the tie-up just before launch. Seriously, at this price Ninja looks VFM. Ninja any day is better built and oozes quality which is missing from Hyosung.

Add 20k more and get a Ninja. Liquid cooled, 33Horses and goes way faster than this one and handles better too . And it wont fry ur legs in traffic like a air cooled V-twin .
