Honest query, if a V twin, USD forks, goodies loaded bike if localized can be sold @ 1.5 lac... Why Hondas are selling DOHC CBR250R at the same price point.. or even a Duke/R15 around it?Originally posted by dreamseller View PostIf grapevines are to be believed, they're aiming for 90% localization once their plant is up and prices are supposed to drop down to as much as 1.5 odd lakhs. Amen to that, I say.
Does that mean Bajaj can actually develop a TWIN at that price point for India in near future?
Is it the R&D which causes spike in pricing?***Correct me if I am wrong :)

The comet was 1.8X on road! 1.6X ex showroom!Originally posted by bobbykick View PostWell .. Correct me if i am wrong !! pls ...
Kinetic Comet = Sold at 1.30 Lakhs INR
Then comes the same bike with all the new added face n a$$
Hysoung GT 250 = Sold at 2.75 Lakhs INR
Do you think there is goodies worth 1.45 Lakhs INR in it !!?? ... or is it just inflation. ... or are we mad !!??
And Coke was 5rs back then today its 14 rupees and its made, bottled and distributed in India :P
So things have changed my friend
+1 25K lower, and it would have a half a lakh advantage on the Ninja. Good enough reason to chuck what is the world’s most favourite 250cc for some reason! This is seriously some absurd pricing!!!Originally posted by payeng View PostWell.. wish the price was lesser by at least Rs. 25K.. Probably it's not possible with the bike being made in Korea and assembled in India.
Hope someday they start making it in India (KTM 200 Duke style).
Not really true!Originally posted by j4zb4 View PostThats what... All it has is poser value... And I think it will burn the bum... Without liquid cooling the rear cylinder will roast the butt especially considering our traffic and climate...
Most vTwins are always air\oil cooled
This has a segment of people wanting "Sporty" bikes. It does its job pretty well there both in looks and performance!
But would they pay that much to an unknown brand that too one which ONLY has ill reputation in India?
I dont think so!
vTwins are NOT high revving engines by nature, that is a department best managed by i4s!Originally posted by princesirohi View Posta lot of online reviews have mentioned that they have done 160 kmph with still some scope left. remember it is a V-twin and a high revving engine.
there is no base for this comment
thats should be the way forward. and make india as a base and export to other countries as well.
i think more than burning the bum, we should be concerned about what it will do to engine internals, without efficient colling, wear and tear will increase etc etc, we have been riding air+oil cooled bikes since ages and we know what happens to a bike if the rider has a habit of always ripping his bike. atleast my next bike will be LC. really tired of topping up my oil every now and then.
btw, i am really interested to know, if this bike has recieved any significant upgrades in terms of engine/gearbox/chasis since it was launched way back as comet apart from carb to FI.
Oil cooler is pretty much a standard in vTwins, and that my friend is "efficient enough"
Most Small vTwins are air cooled, (and vTwins are built like that for a reason!)
Ive been ripping my RTR since ages, havent had these problems!
To be honest the biggest contributor of the "heat" on leg is the radiator! It blows the heat to your feet! Ask anyone who rides a dukeOriginally posted by riot View PostAdd 20k more and get a Ninja. Liquid cooled, 33Horses and goes way faster than this one and handles better too . And it wont fry ur legs in traffic like a air cooled V-twin
.
Infact if you notice the design of the ninja 250r sidepanels and compare them with the GTs side panels you will observe some interesting observations! The engineers arent as big idiots as we think they are

Actually a 25K (ex-showroom) which means around 50K (on road) price difference would have made it somewhat easier for the fence sitter guys who might be undecided between the GT250R and the Ninja 250R to go for the Hyosung.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View Post+1

Although strictly speaking, the GT250R and the Ninja 250R shouldn't be directly compared.
The GT250R is not a bike which just any tom-dick-harry can ride.. due to its bulk and extreme riding posture, the Hyosung GT250R needs a really commited rider to tame it and live with it. The Ninja 250R on the other hand can be ridden by just anybody with a driving licence.

Yup thats what I meant by Half a Lakh rupees being a good enough reason... the proof of this pudding however lies in its after sales support where Ninja kills it with accesibilty, but has a chink in the armour with the cost of spares.Originally posted by payeng View PostActually a 25K (ex-showroom) which means around 50K (on road) price difference would have made it somewhat easier for the fence sitter guys who might be undecided between the GT250R and the Ninja 250R to go for the Hyosung.

If only GT plugs that, then it has some chance of survival. Else! Sigh GT! RIPSuper CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

i agree with the assumption that it should have been 25k lesser on ex-showroom tag.
regarding bike itself .. its a very capable bike and the same opinion are from the ppl who actually rode it, neither its a junk nor its just a bike with big shape .. ppl who are riding on keyboards should think before expressing.
I think garware forseen the price future and made good decision, but DSK sitting with good cash doesn't bother to care about number game .. as clearly they categorized it as life style product saying its weekend bike.
As of my decision to buy, now have to push it back lil bit and need to cancel my booking
[in no way i wil shell out ninja price on this one unless i have a solid reason]

oil cooler may be "efficient enough" but it is not the best way of cooling. and not as efficient as LC.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View Post

Aaaargh
Just shocked with the pricing of this bike.
Everyone expected it to be between the cbr and ninja instead,Hyosung decides to enter the ninja territory!
I dont understand how they intend to make this bike a "mass market" bike.
Having said that,I feel this is THE bike for people out there who are looking to get something bigger and need to get accustomed to the big bike sporty feel and the weight too.
I am sure Hyosung would have analysed the Indian market, this bike has a very strong USP as in it appeals to the senses.People might be sitting in front of the computer here thinking that this bike is totally impractical, but once people go see the bike in flesh ,They will surely be bowled over by its visual appeal. It has also got the sound to back it.The same thing happened to me when I went to see GT650r in showroom, just the day before that i had read the criticism it had got for pricing it more than the Ninja 650r,and the next day I returned home with a strong desire to own the bike!
I am sure only a minuscule amount of Indian buyers do research before buying the bike. If they advertise it well,It actually makes a wonderful proposition,I mean who wouldn't want to get a bike for 3 lakh which has the "show off" capability of a bike which would cost more than double the amount.
Hell! he can even remove the 250r sticker and claim it to be a 1000cc and no one would even question it!.
so bottom-line this bike WILL find buyers in the Indian market.REVVADDICT

Hyosung GT250R vs Kawasaki Ninja 250R - Overdrive
So, that's about it, from the tone of the comparo it's overpriced way too much.
Now, people should appreciate Honda for their sane pricing of CBR250 and I have no words for Bajaj's pricing of 200NS & Duke 200, just insane & unbelievable. Makes you think that they are giving those away for free

They are hoping to sell 3000 of these bikes a year while I doubt it reaches even a thousand...Yes, it has certain USPs which some find appealing but anyone in their right mind will choose a kwacker over this. And other prospective buyers may wait for the prices to come down, but thats nearly a year from now or more.
No wonder Garware pulled out, for I presume this was the reason
When there was a speculation on pricing when someone said there'd be a suprise, I didnt know this was it
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

this comparison says GT250R does a 0-100 KMPH in 10.21 secs, is this true?Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostHyosung GT250R vs Kawasaki Ninja 250R - Overdrive
