This Sunday. I was at carter road. A famous stretch of road in Bombay.

I seen a few youngsters take a few rounds up and down the road on a black Mahindra Mojo. I got to have a closer look at the bike and it seemed to be a production ready model. The bike sounded pretty decent. However I'm not a big fan of the looks (subjective). The bike did have cool looking LED's as DRL's though.

.
i believe mahindra is trying to gain a niche reputation just as yamaha did in 2008 with its r15 and fz16. hence the mysterious vanishing of mojo after its first appearance. the public opinion on looks were negative to mixed back then.
the upsizing of the mill also point towards something like above said .
They intent mojo to be the monster of them all and they wanna shoot up to the highest spot as a 'performance motorcycle company' in the amatuer yet abundant in number indian motorcycle enthusiast's hearts.

here is a humble request to mahindra,
with what you are setting up currently, niche or volume both would not happen.
what india wants, is not another monster a few could buy, run and maintain.
the next sweet spot is 300 or below, cubic capacity.

lets face it, how ever indians may pretent to be simoncellis and lorenzos, we are a third world country, and our economy is vastly different from the west.
and we will be whining about fuel costs for atleast another 10 years, that is, if the global economy is not kaboom in 10 years. .
so please stop these immature cubic race it reminds me of those road rage filled junior vales we find everyday on indian roads.

and i know looks are subjective but a fully faired, sharp looking, frugal yet powerful. higher than 250cc motorcycle is the next big thing. yamaha is aiming there.
its not late though.
yamaha didn't hit the sweet spot exactly as i or some others would like..
the engine. they devoloped a twin first, and pull back after understanding this wont work in india.. we are cheap, remember.
and the final looks look okay. but nowhere exciting or revolutionary the r15 v1 was in 2008.

draw a mental line from a motorcycles tail to the bottom tip of the headlights, while in profile view.
the ugly anatomy bikes and perfect anatomy bikes stand apart.

the r15 v1 =
got this line perfect, and youngsters fell in luv in huge numbers.

r15 v2 = got the line even perfect with the raised tail but lost it on some regards at the same time aswell . and instead of upgrading to a 200cc mill their decision to stick with the old mill and the slightly increased premium didnt look reasonable to most buyers especially with the new crop of even powerful motorcycles with similar price tag.

cbr : lost it, 250 lost it big time with roundness at every cranny n nook.
150 gained a lil back with the abstract colour scheme which hid the actual roundness of this design. slimming down helped too.

ktm rc series :
perfect line of the lot.
but ktm screwed it with a tad more hooliganism than the amatuer Indian's likes. i loved it even though i didn't like repetitive ktm colours.. the orange.

zmr, draw a line and see how pretentious or extra fitting the fairing looks.. infact a bike chasis that wasnt desined as a supersport is always gonna look awkward.
just some thoughts

Radical Shady.

If the race is about CCs then you must be riding a splendor or a TVS xl hd. No.offense to.owners.

Gone are the days when people use to whine about fuel prices. Price is the concern, but fuel prices ain't stopping the rider inside you. Be it 80rs or 100. Enthusiasts are going to ride.

Now coming to the CBR, please tell me how CBR does not appeal to others. Are you asking the bike to wear a bikini and show off it curves. The baby CBR is still a good looking machine + the ABS and do not forget about the reliability of this bike, the bike is only let down by some incompetent mechs at ASS. Please let me know a bike which matches the performance+ reliability+ ABS at the CBRs price point ?

now coming to the ZMR, it was only screwed up post HERO and HONDA splitup or else ZMR is still a impeccable machine. Capable of taking the rider to the length and breadth of the country without any fuss.

And KTMs are absolute bang for the buck, though there are few niggles here and there.

There is a huge difference between showing off and enthusiasm. Yes the market in INDIA is still maturing in regards to big bikes. Everybody is not a street racer there are plenty of enthusiasts. So few showing off riders cannot decide the fate of motorcycling in INDIA.

Yes, Mahindra has delayed the mojo a lot. Lets wait and watch, what's what when the bike.is launched.

Every manufacturer wants the piece of cake, but hey, that is a good sign for us enthusiasts. The more the competitions the better the options.

Cheers,
Sanjay

My friend, YOU might want a 300 or below cubic capacity bike, please don't generalize what India wants. Being the vast country we are, it is IMPOSSIBLE to generalize what India wants as a whole.

lets face it, how ever indians may pretent to be simoncellis and lorenzos, we are a third world country, and our economy is vastly different from the west.

We are a third world country with a lot of people who can afford a big bike. Again, you might whine about fuel cost and base your purchase decision on it, but a lot of Indians might not!

Road rage filled junior vales don't need a big bike to show their immaturity. Even if they have a splendor, they will be what they are!

No, You can call yourself cheap or whatever you want to, PLEASE DONT CALL ALL INDIANS CHEAP!!!
Please refrain from making gross generalization about a country as big as India. If you really know what India wants, you are at the wrong place my friend. You should make use of you knowledge in a product development role. Big companies would kill to have a guy who knows what India wants!

Well, India is not a person or entity, when its time to stand up, we stay down, when its time to vote, we stay in homes watching American television, when u should slap ur rapist friend, you ask them how was it??

One should judge oneself first then the nation, one can kill a neighbor for a piece of land but not a minister, so only the ones giving lives for a country should say bad or good things, not the ones who get a 7figure salary and stay in home at the time of vote.
