One of the reasons why i bought an on/off roader. Riding on mumbai roads is just like light offroading, and during rains, the roads do become hardcore offroads, you also get many many puddles of water.Originally posted by 111diablo111 View PostThis must happen through out the India..Indian roads are not good enough for constant riding in speed!!

Even if these people were arrested, they would get off on bail, case would drag on for years and they will be let off with a fine. There is no point asking goverenment and law enforcement to fix this because they have much bigger, more lucrative fish to fry.
If you are talking about rash driving and lack of road saftey then it basically because of 3 things.
1. Lack of respect:- Towards Life, other's property and law. What such people do not understand is any vehicle, specially two wheelers can be viewed as potentialy dangerous weapons and can take life, whether yours or some one else's. The person you are trying to drive off road or trying to race because he is going at a decent pace has the same right to be on the road as you. Laws are not their to irritate you or hamper your freedom. They exist because they are necessary to enforce order and peaceful travel.
2. Responsibility:- Towards yourself, others on road and Law. Parents should not give their children two wheelers without knowing whether they can ride responsibly or not. Same goes for RTO licensing authorities. Riding and riding responsibly are two separate things. Even if a person gets a license in this country legally by giving a driving test, it only tests his basic ability to control a vehicle. It doesnot take in to account his commonsence or driving behaviour. If anyone gets hurt because of a person who was unfit to ride or was underage, its the fault of the parents and authorities as they should have stopped this and not given in because of any pressure. When on the road you are responsible for others' safety as well as yours. For a small thrill, endangering everyone around you including yourself is not macho, its immature and irresponsible.
3. Attitude towards operating vehicles:- People do not observe the most basic practices of safe road behaviour in this country. Flashing blinkers while turning, making sure your tail lamp works, making sure your brakes are working, making sure you have decent tyres, not using your high beam in city traffic; even these small things elude most people. Many middle age people like to keep brake levers at loose play because they are afriad of braking. These people like to stop their bikes by rammimng the vehicle in front. Most people are happy to ride their 100cc economisers at 20kph and block the traffic behind them. Riding triple or quadruple, riding with children on the tank, riding with a cell phone tucked between ear and shoulder; these are accepted practices. The most irritating argument of all; I am riding slow, why would I need a helmet or observe safty regulations? Thats for people riding fast. Well, speed of a vehicle is not a tax slab. You dont get exempted from laws of physics because you are riding slower. If you fall or hit someone the tarmac dosent bother if you are valentino rossi, college student or a white collar father of two, effect will be the same. Someone will get hurt.
The point of this rant is simple. Its very hard to change these people so there is no point in trying. The only way to change this senario is to make sure that us and people around us do not make the same mistakes.HYPERTHRUST CLEARED AND COUNTING

yes you are quite right...whenever i am on Highway i settle into 100-110 KMPH & then fast cars overtakes me at 140 KMPH...but can't do anything to beat themOriginally posted by rohitud View Postwhat does High Speed Mean according to RTO .. 70kmp-80kmp ??,, ithink 80 is the speed limit on our National Highways for all 2 wheelers / 4 wheelers

will have to purchase at least Ninja 300 or KTM 390 to beat them!!
In the city i ride like normal commuter(Passion,Shine) speeds not crossing 60 kmph even if the road is Empty...Don't Honk Unnecessarily

Am living in this so called place Vijayawada and i know how the people ride their bikes here. No one wears a helmet here ofcourse no one is bothered to wear or to buy one and even no police personnel is bothered to check license or bike documents any time. When i used to live in Hyderabad, there used to be regular checks. Since past 6 months am living here and not even once i was not asked or i have seen police people doing checks. No one follows road rules and especially no bike rider knows how to properly use the power of his bike, they ride to showoff and they purchase big bikes just for showoff. There are no proper roads too here, people walk in the middle of the roads and even rikshaw pullers ride in the middle of the road. More over i have came across few people who look at me and laugh on seeing me wearing riding gear, i just don't bother ofcourse with these kind of things, this shows how neglected and uneducated these people are regarding safety, and few people even asked me near traffic signals "R U GOING FOR ANY RACE " ha ha.. Half of the students who are riding bikes don't even posses a riding license but rides big bikes.
We cant force a person to ride a bike properly obeying traffic rules , maintain your bike like this, wear riding gear for safety. That should come from oneself with interest and respect towards biking.Last edited by Sandeep Patnala; 04-18-2013, 12:44 PM.Rides : Yamaha Gladiator RS ( 2009 - Present )

A good action... Infact this should be mandate all over in India. Here in Mumbai still i see under age guys riding scooty etc in their locality or local roads.... slowly moving to streets and resulting in unwanted race type attitude or accidents.Last edited by Guest; 04-18-2013, 03:30 PM.

Speed that is more than what is specified in the stretch; in city there're sign board all over & the speed limit is applicable until the next sign board appears. Car at 45 Kmph inside city & 90 Kmph at 80 Kmph highway stretch are over-speeding;Originally posted by rohitud View Postwhat does High Speed Mean according to RTO .. 70kmp-80kmp ??
The speed limits on highway is applicable only for cars; for NP trucks & motorcycles it's 50 Kmph on any highway; two-wheelers is 40 Kmph or lower as specified inside the city limits. Anything over this is called over-speedingOriginally posted by rohitud View Postithink 80 is the speed limit on our National Highways for all 2 wheelers / 4 wheelersSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

My firend I did Saddle sore on National Highways and not in city limits. That's number one.Originally posted by muztariq View PostWhich Bike do you posses? If you go by the speed which you do.. any 97 cc is sufficient for your ride. Why are we seeing any bike above 100 cc on the road?? As per law 50 is the speed limit, which a bike like KTM/FZ/Pulsar/RTR/R15 etc. etc. have the capability to achieve in 3rd gear. In the real meaning of rules, we all are breaking one over speeding rule inside city everyday.
If I remember correctly you have a saddlesore thread.. That is more illegal act than the ones these guys were involved in.
14 arrested, atleast one will come up on xbhp once cleared! Hope he clarifies and provide us an account of what actually happened.
Number two, IBA clearly mentions that any attempt of Saddle sore or Bun burner is done on a route where rider has maintained illegal speed they will not approve the ride. That's exactly why they do not approve Bun burner GOLD rides in India, because average speed one has to maintain is more than 100 Kmph, and there is no 2500 Kms stretch in India where 100-120 Kmph constant riding is possible.
Number three...If you followed my posts properly, I have mentioned that in city I always maintain a speed of less than 50 K mph. That much common sense I believe most of my friends in this community possess. Not sure about you though.
I do not know where you live, but if you come to Bangalore and if you are riding at higher than 60 K mph spped in certain zones (Ex: International airport road; old air port road) you will be fined good money on the spot. You mentioned that 97cc is sufficient to maintain 50 Kmph speed. Now then, if you possess Ninja, which I doubt, what speed do you maintain in city limits...150 Kmph...going by your math...HAHAHA
I know people who did saddle sore on a high end bike and finished the saddle sore ride in 20 hours and IBA did not approve those rides.
I am not proving anything to you or to anyone here...and please do your homework before passing any comments...If I were to maintain illegal speed for 1600 Kms...I would not be sitting here replying to riders like you...HEHEHEH

I don't understand why anyone has to query in an odd manner to prove something outta the blue, but this post of ur's mite bring em to light about the fact being that this is a place where we share, learn, understand & rejoice the moments of one & all. It ain't a place to criticize or bad mouth anyone here, just for the words, I am sure no one does that, rare cases mite come up, but we have our brilliant & observant Mods to take care of that.
Either ways, +1 here... U've proved many rider's point, including yours, even if it was unintentional or your modesty to say so..

Few nights back at my city (kOlkata) I too encountered a a kid at heart type of Man of aprox +50 driving 220NS and kept on over tacking me and my 350 bull in congested part. Now asi caught up with him on a fly over and started riding side by side he seemed got pi**ed off.At the down slop of the Fly Over there is a signal he jumped that and he skidddddd cause he missed the tram line on the road,he himself, his bike and his HELMET all got disintegrated like any thing.People come ran after pulled him up(shaken and stirred status),bike lost its Right Side Mirror, fairing scratched and cracked,I just picked up his HELMET and surprise, surprise it's don't have any strap!!!People asked him why he was in so rush? His explanation was if I can't drive 220NS in speed then to better purchase Bullet.I'm out my wit and till now searching what will be the best word for such people ,Stupid?
