Re: KTM RC 390 launch confirmed for 2014

Now I think Honda should lanch CBR 400R as it will be right time to launch it. If Honda launch it with ABS at @ 3lac(+/- 25k) i will go for it instead of KTM. I know comparing KTM and Honda will not be correct as I have nor taken even TD of KTM but after having owned Honda City for last six years and completed almost 80k Km and ridden my friend's CBR250R I can tell refinement of Honda is matchless. I am damn sure CBR 400R at 3lac will be a great buy.
And N300 is different segment all together. If you love N300 and have 4 lac in your account don't think about practical bike or VFM, just go and buy it. You will not regret your decision.

People who love Honda will not even bother about bikes such as this and Kawasaki for that matter. These are for enthusiasts not general biking public for whom Honda makes excellent bikes anyway.

Remember the pricing of the duke is much higher abroad and falls close to the ninja's price.Your argument makes more sense abroad but in India the KTM scores.
I have several reasons to go for the Ninja. The RC390 is not even out yet and we don't yet know how reliable are the information and specs going around in the net. Let them launch the bike first, then we shall discuss whether its at par with the Ninja or not. It will be apt for those who wanted/waiting for a faired duke, but I've made up my mind already, and I ain't gonna change it. Imho, the Ninja 300 is well worth the premium it demands, it is for this reason that I buy it. Not for posing.

Dude, I see where you are coming from. Yup, me too was in the same boat a few years back until Duke was launched. Lets put it this way, Duke being manufactured here, costs less to Indians however, abroad it sells at par with Ninja. Situation is reverse with Ninja here.

As regards quality and reliability, Duke is a high quality bike. Just because it is manufactured by Bajaj at Chakan does not mean quality is any less.

I have seen new Ninja 300's catching rust in Mumbai rain, along with mist formation inside the headlamp. Not one but 3 Ninja 300's.

Also, on reliability front, Duke will never let you down.

At the end of the day, it is your money, how you spend it is entirely upto you. However, if you decide to spend on Ninja 300, it would be wrong to call you a poser as I understand what you are trying to say.

When it comes to Honda, I feel a lot of difference in quality, A$$ between its cars and bikes. I too own a Honda Cit and the way Honda treats its customers is a delight. i shall never go with any other manufacturer in future for 4 wheels. However, situation is completely opposite when it comes to their 2 wheeler division.

And theres nothing wrong in bringing CBR 400 into the picture when talking about KTM. I will definitely park my money with RC390 as and when it is launched, even if Honda launches CBR 400 here.

The way KTM treats its customers along with quality levels on their bike, I shall stick to KTM, as I stick to Honda for cars.

well said brother cbr 400r is a killing machine.and its twin parallel cylinder in 180 degree..46bhp with 37nm..with DOHC engine..if you maintain 60km/h it ll give 40km/l..because it is low friction engine...definitely they ll launch cbr 400r and cb400f.

As usual the Keyboard Comparos start

If the Road Legal version of this model has the same kind of Agressive riding position and Clip Ons (yes the ones on this machine are the "real" 2 piece clip ons), guys who'll take it for a ride would clearly understand why the R15, CBR150R/250R, Ninja 250R/300, CBR400/500 are just Glorified Commuters.

The riding position on this one is the real Back Breaking, Super Sports stuff.. Commuting would be almost impossible with this kind of riding position set up.

I knew someone would say that. Anyway, I'm still not convinced to choose Duke/Rc390 over Ninja

This is exactly what makes me want one! We have just too many of 'soft-core' sportsbikes!

This is going to be a KILLER for sure, but Ninja fans will always go for it without thinking too hard, it's just that good no doubt. Though, one can definitely expect Ninja sales to drop by some margin, as RC390 will cost less like Duke390, will have more power, much racier ergonomics(Ready to Race!) & absolutely won't compromise in overall quality of components/fit and finish. Hence it's bound to be hugely successful here. KTM's future in India is bright.

First, KTM is not at the forefront for faired bikes and this RC390 is almost making the same power as a N300 which has 30% lower displacement.
Displacement and power of the ADAC Cup RC390 might be different and toned down due to the race requirements. I dont think it is an indication of how the road version will be..

So excited to see the RC390 in flesh.
Just a thought- Full fairing, ~43bhp, fantastic tires implies higher top speed than the Ninja 300? Agreed the 300 has a cylinder more but at the end of the day doesn't it come to power though with more vibrations(due to a less cylinder in the 390)?

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                            THE END

There is no information on whether the street version will be 43BHP, the one for race is 38BHP so it may be just that.
