Duke on the other hand is like owning a Honda.. see the difference..
Umm, so owning a japanese bike is like owning a european car and owning a european bike is like owning a japanese car? Seems legit. :|

Also, I wasn't comparing Ninja 300 with the Duke, I was comparing it to the RC390. You are of course entitled to your perceptions and opinions, although objectively speaking, it will make more power, more torque and weigh less than a Ninja 300, will have racy ergonomics and handling (likely to roughly be in same league with Ninja).

Ah, my bad... I seem to have completely ignored the lack of headlights and indicators :P

Number 1.. you don't seem to get my point.. what i am saying is the pride in owning a Ninja is like the pride of owning a Merc/BMW... not my fault if you can't understand logics.. lol..

Number 2.. I don't think Ninja is even meant for racing.. and the RC390 is a race series and its obvious its going to weigh less..

its like you are comparing Honda's motoGP "RC213V" with the Suzuki's Hayabusa.. doesn't make sense, does it??

Of course it's not impossible but it's very unlikely. It has more to do with the cultural difference between Japan and Europe. Japanese build their automobiles in a very analytical way, they extract every last bit of value they can from the given resources. Europeans build with passion, personality, soul and other buzzwords like that. Can you think of 10 classic Asian bikes/cars? Maybe you can, but it is for sure much harder to do than finding the same number of classic cars/bikes just out of Italy.
Being said that, I personally prefer the Japs because I pretty much only care about performance/dollar.

Agreed with number 2, I ignored that aspect when comparing weights. My bad. The road going version would probably end up in the vicinity of Ninja 300

As for number 1, that made zero logical sense at all. You want to compare pride of owning a premium brand (BMW/Merc) to a household brand (Honda)?
A more realistic "pride" comparison would be, KTM RC8R vs ZX-10R, because in a way the 2 bikes in question are downscaled versions of those 2 bikes. And IMO, that easily ends up in a draw, if not in favour of the KTM.

So, does it mean the faired version of Duke 390 will look like the one given in pics here with some minor changes like pillion seat, indicators etc.?

Ninja bye bye, just a couple of months more, with such a killer price, almost all are backing from buying a Ninja300 and now if this RC390 is launched, Ninja is completely dead cos this is a great monster and I bet Bajaj will put a good price tag. . .

Cheers!!!

My opinion- That RC390 is not aesthetically pleasing to me. The trellis extending into the tail gives an insect-like silhouette.
It might be perfect weight-saving design for a track bike, but might be too extreme for a mass sportsbike for the road

If BBC MotoGP commentators are to be believed, trellis frames add too much unwanted weight, which is why some moto2 teams (can't recall the name) got rid of it and went for a more conventional moto2 frame.

Ezilkannan you seem to want the ninja for the associated poser factor you get for being able to buy the more expensive bike.Unless the Ninja recieves any bump in power it will cease to be attractive compared to the RC390 (I expect the max on road price to be 2.5lakhs and power atleast 45 hp considering the current duke 390 price and power). If the ninja is still priced at close to 4lakhs on road and a more powerful faired bike from KTM is priced lower, then not many would care which class or college the ninja is from! Remember the pricing of the duke is much higher abroad and falls close to the ninja's price.Your argument makes more sense abroad but in India the KTM scores.

Looks alright not particurlalry smashing or anywhere near ninja. If released here it will definitely be priced lesser than N300 but I feel it might not match the on road characteristics of N300. First, KTM is not at the forefront for faired bikes and this RC390 is almost making the same power as a N300 which has 30% lower displacement.
