Looks good, but very run on the mill honestly. They should make it kind of sharp dont you think? Maybe the race spec screen looks a little bland on top. Or maybe black wheels would do the trick.

Re: KTM RC 390 launch confirmed for 2014

What I feel would be close to the production version..
Things added
- Rear view mirrors
- Rider and pillion seats
- Turn Indicators
- Underbelly exhaust
- Pillion footpegs
- Rc 390 decals (similar to rc8)

Removed the akrapovic exhaust and the race foot pegs.

I believe there would be parts sharing between the duke and the RC to keep the costs low hence the parts added are from the duke390.

^Not bad at all!

But as jackofsome said, it is looking plain jane. That wow factor is not there. Unlike the Ninja and R15. The headlight is looking sad. Let us hope KISKA Design make a very good aggressive street legal bike out of this!

Pretty neat man! But as Nitrosatya said and I pointed out kind of plain jane.
nitrosatya- With the reviews pouring in of the duke 390 and people going bananas about the motor, first I want this bike when it comes out to properly smoke the N300 at almost half the price. I think the aerodynamics with the fairing and the windscreen it should absolutely be a bonkers machine to ride.
Now if KTM intends to make it that way.
They should also aim to better the Ninja in every department which should not be surprising though.

Smoking the N300 won't be easy, not at all. Its not easy to beat a twin with just a bigger displacement single. It will be great if it at least can match it if not beat it. The Japs didn't come up with N300 overnight, it is a result of years of innovation and when it comes to track bikes KTM is a newbie.

I agree with you that it might not be able to beat the ninja on track but may as well equal ninja's prowess.
But in a straight line with the power and torque figures and an aerodynamic shell added to it, all this and still undercutting ninja's weight figure, it'll be a different story altogether.
Even the duke 390 accelerates faster than the ninja and the top end is also marginally lower(that too because of a extra tall 6th gear which does not allow the bike to reach its max potential with the available torque).
The thing which we should understand is even if some single cylinder bike is faster than the ninja at half the price its because its being manufactured in India and ninja being a twin takes more resources to build. It might have been a different(price comparison would have been fair) if both were being manufactured here in India.
Ninja's quality is unmatched and its track ability is renowned.
The ktm on the other hand is known for the fun filled in their gas tanks from the factory.

I would like to differ on your statement. While smoking is not the term that Im using here, given that the two riders are same on skill and weight levels, it would be particularly easy for a RC rider to keep a N300 rider in check. Blame it on the lighter frame, better power to weight ratio, easier turn in and I'm assuming better brakes. The N300 might get massive advantage from it's slipper clutch which is really handy on the track.

Having said this, a slightly better rider on the N300 can smoke the RC at tracks where straights matter...read BIC. At Chennai and Kari though, it would be a different story.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

The catch here I thought is more power ~5bhp(from the single) than the twin and less weight.
Both would have aerodynamic bodies to boot. sparky- Just wanted to know given the above aspects shoudn't we expect the RC to beat the ninja(beating to me here is purely better acceleration better top speed)?
What other factors can come into play? DukeDey- I expect and hope the RC390 turns out to be more track focussed than the N300.

Re: KTM RC 390 launch confirmed for 2014

KTM set to launch RC125, 200 and 390 - Motorcycle news: New bikes - Visordown

KTM IS set to launch fully-faired variants of its Duke 125, 200 and 390, Visordown can exclusively reveal.
The RC125, RC200 and RC390 will be unveiled at the Milan motorcycle show on November 5, sources say.
The Austrian firm was already known to be readying the road-going fully-faired RC390 after revealing a race version as the new standard bike for the ADAC Junior Cup feeder series in July.
Since the three Dukes are identical apart from engine capacity, paint and stickers, it was a small step from the RC390 to the RC125 and 200, according to sources.
The RCs will have different tanks and bodywork to the Dukes, with the same engine, frame, brakes, swingarm and forks. They will also get clip-on handlebars and rearsets for a sportier riding position.
Like the Dukes, the RCs will be identical to each other apart from engine capacity and colours.
Weights will be a close to the Dukes’, which are 127kg for the 125, 129.5kg for the 200 and 139kg for the 390.
The RC125 will make 15bhp and the RC200 25bhp. The 373cc RC390 will produce 43bhp, making it the closest thing on the market to the two-stroke 250s of the Eighties and early Nineties, like the TZR250, RGV250 and KR1-S.
As with the Duke 390, KTM are certain to introduce a slightly restricted version of the RC390 for A2 licence holders, making it an exciting offering for new riders. It will make 41.5bhp to comply with the A2 power-to-weight ratio limit of 0.26bhp per kg.
Like the Dukes, the RCs will be built in India by Bajaj, which owns a 47% stake in KTM, Europe's biggest motorcycle manufacturer.
A source told Visordown that supermoto versions of the Dukes, with more ground clearance and suspension travel, would also follow but not until 2015.

Its not for India. Its a restricted licence category used in European countries which has limitations on how powerful a vehicle can be used by the license holder.

In india its only learners licence and permanent licence. It can be only 2 wheeler, only 4 wheeler or both.
There are other categories like light moving vehicles(read cars and suv) and the heavy vehicles (trucks and buses).

Licence can be for general use or commercial use.

Kindly post your queries in the relevant sections. Mods pardon me for the OT.

The above link is informative. I suggest that members read it to get more ideas about what KTM is planning.

Look at that bike, those front brake lever protectors, that headlightless fairing, etc. Although RC is going to be a street legal series, I just hope the blueprint is closest to this factory racer pictured in the above post.
In fact, I don't think owners would mind a single seat only. When RE can do that, why not KTM?

We just hope that the bikes sold in India don't fall victim to street rules (A2) set in Europe. Let's hope they'll actually be close to the Dukes, yet offer more power in a similar or lighter package.
