I think the 200SS deserves a separate thread [MENTION=38603]The Monk[/MENTION] and other mods.
A new thread or this thread should be renamed. Somebody opens the 375 thread and sees pics and discussions about the 200ss!
And someone who searches for a 200ss thread will be disappointed to see all the discussions here and there in an unorganised manner.

According to me pulsars are the worst, I mean worst in keeping up their words. . . They said two bikes from their stables with fairing will be launched by this year end and damn here we are on the last day of this year and there's absolutely NOTHING from their end . . .

Updates? Well, I was on an industrial tour to Chakan plant in Pune from 14th to 19th December, 2013, with my 23 students this December. And needless to say, I "saw & understood" & I was told a lot more than one would expect.

I have few good news, most of which unfortunately I can't share here, out of trust that Bajaj people have in me. But I can share some things for sure:-


1. There is a Pulsar you would be seeing soon in 2014, January itself. I saw it myself in flesh, it was under a white tank & pillion area cover though. Can't share much about it although I understood this product well. You guys know how Pulsars are, parts sharing and all.

So, one look at the machine made me understand what it is. All I can say is, keep an eye on your Pbk showrooms, this one could be out any moment now.

2. Total, there would be 6 Pulsars & Dukes to be released this year. And Bajaj says they would be in accordance with the new platforms (200, 375, etc.) and they would be advanced, technologically speaking. Bajaj is looking forward only and these bikes are expected to "make you forget the past platforms & technologies".

3. Bajaj has no intention of making performance kits for older Pulsars, just because the level of precision they have at the factory can't be replicated at the typical Probiking SVC.
For example, Bores are measured to 1/100th of a millimeter. That means, according to present Bajaj Auto, even 56.01mm Bore is detectable for a standard of 56mm Bore. From as large as 1036 defectives/ unit of time in 2003, the defectives are as low as 4 in 2013 now, and 0 is their target for 2015.
They're very forward looking and quality conscious.

4. Kawasaki is not going anywhere from India. Bajaj is continuing its partnership with Kawasaki by making it mutually viable for both parties. Some more CBU releases are in store for 2014, no CKD info so far, and Kawasaki is here to do good business, no matter how small or limited.

Three dukes will be RC 125,200,390 ,there pulsars WILL be 200as,p375 and third I'm not sure but p180ns( as rajiv said himself about sub 200ns)

WOooooooWWWW Yeah, that's awesome bhai, finally got some hint at least, . . Very pleased to hear that they are focusing more on quality this time, guess my impression on Bajaj is building day by day. . . As we can all guess, the 6 pulsars and KTM bikes are, Pulsar 180NS, 200SS, 375, RC200 and RC390, but wait what could be the sixth bike . . ? I don't think it would be RC125, so what could it be, may be naked version of 375 or a reworked 220 or something similar . . ? Ahhhh can't wait to see them . . .

You were all lucky to having visited the plant, I too wish to see them once , . .

Yeaaaa... As they say "Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet". It seems like our wait for the '200SS fruit' is almost over . I hope it's tasty.

You might have guessed the Jan 2014 bike already.

Anyways, we had a talk on the 125s too. And their opinion was that India is an "engine performance" focused country. In such a scenario, customers might not appreciate a 125 costing Rs. 1.2 Lacs or so.

But then, you might ask, if they export the same thing to Europe than why not sell the same thing here as an option?
Well, service training would be required for 125's service engineers, no matter how little different it is from 200.
And, For Duke 200 and/or 390, there are different Indian & Euro versions. These versions are dictated primarily by compatibility for fuel quality only, other things remain same mostly. So, 125 would require an Indian version too. Again, can't be sure about this paragraph, its information source is not a Bajaj personnel.

And one more thing: I would be soon opening a topic on this industrial visit to Bajaj (Chakan plant). There's a lot to be told, as I saw Dukes, Pulsars & Avengers being produced (ok, not Avengers at that time).

I myself too don't feel the need for a 125 here in India, speaking about what you said, indeed India is growing from a time where mere 100cc were ruling it to now with bigger cc's coming day by day, not all will be interested in going for a 125cc as said again at that price, they would consider something bigger, . .

I am eagerly waiting for that topic, it would also be nice if some of our Xbhpians form a group and we can also make a one day ride to the plants of these companies, it would be great for us to see how it's made and learn many things, hope it happens someday . . .

As said above by someone, the sixth bike might be a new cruiser from their end, Bajaj is playing the game perfectly, . . If this continues, then there's no doubt they will get back their 2nd position again. . .

Lastly, indeed this is best gift for us for the New Year and oops forgot, Happy New Year bhai, missed out earlier . . .
