Pune-based Bajaj Auto, having borne a slowdown in the market and intensified competition from rivals, said it was confident of regaining its position with a series of product launches.
The company is India's second largest two-wheeler maker. Its market share, though, has dwindled to 20.6 per cent in the motorcycle category, down from 27 per cent at the end of 2010-11, a five-year best. Aggressive product expansion by rivals, specially Honda (it doubled its share in the motorcycle segment to 15 per cent), resulted in a drop in its share and volumes.
Sluggish market demand led to a volume fall in motorcycles from a usual 200,000 a month to 150,000-160,000 units. Last month, its bike volumes fell 32 per cent to 135,567 units against 198,394 units a year ago, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. During the nine months ended December this financial year, Bajaj Auto sales fell 16 per cent from a year ago, to 1.6 million units from 1.9 mn.
During the same nine months, the motorcycle segment grew 2.5 per cent to 7.8 mn units, as compared to 7.6 mn sold a year ago. Hero MotoCorp, the biggest two-wheeler maker, had flat growth of 0.5 per cent, selling 4.05 mn units.
To counter the fall and raise excitement in the brand, the Rajiv Bajaj-led company has readied at least half a dozen launches this year, from commuter bikes to premium sport-oriented ones. To begin, a 125-cc model under the Discover brand will be launched in March, to complement the Discover 100M launched during the festive season this year. The bike will be alongside the Discover 125 ST and Discover 125T. A ramp-up in demand for the recently introduced Discover 100M is also expected in the next couple of months.
More, a refreshed model of the Pulsar 180 and the Pulsar 375 will be launched. And, under the KTM brand, an RC200 and RC390 will be introduced later this year.
All this, the company hopes, will lift overall sales back to 200,000 units a month, regaining the lost share. The launches are expected to push the share back to 25-26 per cent, say officials. Said S Ravikumar, president (business development), "We should be able to get back to 200,000 units a month in February."
Sources said Bajaj will showcase some or all of these products at the Auto Expo in Noida.

One section of the media says there is a 200SS and some others say there's only this 375. It's total confusion. I hope everything will be clear soon.

Ya. Bajaj's marketing is very poor.Originally posted by Rakesh Rok View PostThere's something fishy going around here, come on mann, it was confirmed and now there's no talk about this. . . BTW, did Samarth bhai say that a 200SS is coming? I think he said a naked bike is coming.
This is really confusing. But nitin_sports saw the bike when they were testing it and had confirmed that it is indeed the 200SS
. And they were testing it with 200NS and D200 too on several occasions. So I think a 200SS is definitely coming.
BTW, will the 180 NS replace the current P180?The best things in life are dangerous: Motorcycles and Women

Re: New Pulsar is P180
It sure will. . . About the testing of the bikes with NS and D200, never believe the D200, it might be camouflaged 390, that's how they tested it back then. . . Now coming to what datas we have gathered, definitely a 200ss is in the making, may be Bajaj is keeping mum about this and planning to surprise us by launching it. . . Indeed the new 180 will definitely replace the current p180 IMO. . .Originally posted by raging_bull View PostYa. Bajaj's marketing is very poor.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar's 2 Super Sport motorcycles: xBhp News
I see you have spent some quality hours on modeling this. Very good efforts. I don't mind suggesting a few thingsOriginally posted by theslayer View Post
I'm excited! Say hello to the fully faired new generation Pulsar set to be unveiled at AutoExpo 2014 probably with the name 200SS. Brand Pulsar has a loyal band of followers who are very fond of the brand and understand the finer nuances of the Pulsar that are often lost on other motorcycle enthusiasts. This design study of the fully faired Pulsar 200SS comes from one such fan.
More here
Exclusive : 2014 Bajaj Pulsar 200SS in all its fully-faired, uncamouflaged glory; Pricing and launch details soon | Riot Engine
Question from Shumi still stands. Will the 200SS be available with fuel injection as well as ABS? Or do we have to be satisfied with just one or the other?
Do add missing details like brake calipers etc.
Relocate tail lamp.
Rear tyre is disproportionate.
Resize the tyre hugger too and add a fender at front.
Edges are too sharp don't be conservative, use a lot of polygons.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar's 2 Super Sport motorcycles: xBhp News
Read this guys
Source : Motorbeam
Bajaj To Unveil Pulsar 200 SS, Pulsar 375 At Auto Expo
We all are aware about the Pulsar 375 which will be launched later this year. The company is also working on a full faired version of the Pulsar 200 NS which is likely to be called Pulsar 200 SS (Super Sport). Both these motorcycles will be unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo.Bajaj Auto doesn’t usually showcase new motorcycles at the Auto Expo but the company is shifting its strategy.
Oh yeah! It's definitely coming. Motorbeam guys cant be this confident unless they are 100% sure about it.
1.35 lakhs on road?! That's more expensive than the R15! But I guess that's the price of the FI + ABS variant. It seems like Bajaj wants to conquer the whole 1 to 2 lakh segment! The Pulsar 200 SS will get fuel-injection along with a full fairing and optional ABS. Other parts will be shared with the 200 NS and power output is expected to be bumped to 24.5 BHP. The Pulsar 375 will share engine components with the Duke 390 and thus this high capacity Pulsar will produce around 38 BHP of power and 32 Nm of torque. Expect the Pulsar 375 to reach 100 km/hr in under 8 seconds while top speed is expected to be around 175 km/hr. The Pulsar 200 SS will be priced at around Rs. 1.35 lakhs while the Pulsar 375 will be priced around Rs. 1.8 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai).

These pics seems to be intentional leaks. The snaps were taken from a Canon EOS50D camera. An SLR camera for spy pics? Re: Bajaj Pulsar's 2 Super Sport motorcycles: xBhp News
Thank YOU for the kind words! Some of the images shot during testing clearly show the tail lights to be positioned on a plastic attachment leaving the rear cowl completely empty. I think the new images by rushlane also show a similar position, although I think the rear lights 'texture' might be vastly different.Originally posted by princesirohi View Post@theslayer: thank you very much, bro...these rederings are as close as it can get to the original.
you just need to add some graphics, similar to new NS. a grab rail etc
only part i am doubtful is the tail light, why does it have an entirely new location for tail lights.
You nailed it bro! It isn't close to the actual model, but in all honesty, this is as close a rendering as it can get. Thanks!Originally posted by harsh_66328 View PostThe 3D renderings in the previous posts are quite good. From the information available in the spy pics, this actually is very well done. It might not be 100% close to the actual model but definitely quite near it. There are minute details missing but still brilliant effort.
I personally loved the red coloured model.
The bike would be great but the handle bar position ruins it for me. The riding posture does not at all gel with the design of the bike. Just imagine the rider crouching on the fuel tank

Invoking the hallowed Italian marque in a discussion involving Pulsars and Karizmas.. you are going to hell for this bro :POriginally posted by Doga View PostI find the fairing hideous , much like the Karizma R's. Bajaj could have done a better job there(if indeed it's the final cut). Let's see if it looks better in flesh.
The 200NS looks better. Too many cuts and creases sometimes take the fluidity of the design away. The reason,I know I am inviting brickbats here, I do not find the MV brutale/Rivale the perfect naked design as many would tink
I do find the Karizma R's fairing hideous but not so much the Pulsar. I have to admit, the fairing is mostly correct as far as the contours are correct, but the depth is something that will not be clear unless I see the actual motorcycle.
While I do see your point that the Pulsar SS might not be to everyone's taste, I'm sure its not going to be so hideous that you would have to 'settle' for a 200SSOriginally posted by princesirohi View Post
too many cuts and creases...yes, just a little bit too many.but then it is going to be such a VFM package due to cost/power/features, that we have to accept it.
no choices for those looking to have cheap fun.
Well noted, though there are two more things I'd like to bring to your attention. The lower fairing is not symmetrical! If you notice this detail on the spy shots, you'll see the lower fairing is different on the left and on the right. The intention seems to be to leave the cylindrically extruded part of the crankcase on both sides visible. Your fairing design while surely more in sync with the rest of the design, would leave large gaps that would be visible when viewed in profile.Originally posted by bbsrailfan View PostThe lower engine cowl (circled in red) is the worst design element with its boxy looks. A sleeker design (outlined in orange) could have complimented the overall edginess.
Second, I can assure you this is the outline. The only thing I'm not so sure of is the depth. The upper part of the lower fairing goes 'inside' and I'm not sure by how much. We'll have to wait for the official images before we know for sure.
No Sir haven't seen the bike. It's all well researched, but ultimately guess work.Originally posted by harsh_66328 View PostThis is not the final design as it's been derived from the spy pics, unless the creator has seen the actual bikes. The fairing specially the lower part and cowl would be different as it cannot be seen in the spy pics, so its most probably a guess work.
Nobody minds throwing suggestions :P And fortunately, I don't mind taking them.Originally posted by lockhrt999 View PostI see you have spent some quality hours on modeling this. Very good efforts. I don't mind suggesting a few things

Thanks for noticing the amount of time spent on this project.. months, if you can believe it.
Missing details have to be added.
Relocate the tail lamp though? Why? Please elaborate. Oh and the bit about the fender at the front too. Where?
Tyre hugger is missing actually.
Oh yes, have enough polygons to choke my hardware believe me. I do admit the rear could be less sharper though.
The prime minister's wishes shall be granted. Soon.
I know right? :P Thanks!Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostIt looks like the renderings posted are indeed very very close to the production model.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar's 2 Super Sport motorcycles: xBhp News
A noob pooch.
We see different people of different tastes. Some like supersport bike stance and some want cruiser stance. So cant we achieve both in same bike,by adopting below mentiond features, to give an all round bike with some sacrifice on the torque and gearing charectiscs.
1) providing height adjustable (and reach adjustable) handle bars. So full down handle bars will be sort of super sort and full up will be cruiser style
2) providing footrests adjustable in angle to complement the handle bar position.
I know it will not be a whole solution if the bike has been desgined grounds up for the targetted purpose but it will be better than having fixed position handle bar. This should be similar to the adjustable steering in cars.
Also, except for serious track racing, this bike might serve needs of many people. We can lower down the handles and enjoy weekends. During weekdays raise the handle bar and go work/college in cruiser style.
.
Ready to get poundings for this suggestion, but just a wild thought from my mind.

Does any one else also thinks that the bike's front has been over designed:sly:
I mean it looks good but feels too much..
The curvy light assembly, eyebrows on top of it with some bright decals on top.. & that nose kinda thing rising beneath numberplate
