    Yamaha R25 Dyno run

Yamaha R25's first unofficial Dyno run indicating 32.26 HPs rear wheel:

    Source: Movie - ULTRASPEED RACING

With official figures indicating a total output from the Yamaha P- Twin at 35 BHPs: if what this dyno run showing is true, then seems to me that the transmission losses on this vehicle is pretty less. May be for speed enthusiasts installing a Slip on like Akra, yoshi or Two brothers and a better flowed/ported head will release a further 2 - 3 HPs, taking it a notch closer to the total power output of a kawi 300R?? Then that will be something to look out for.

A generic Dyno run of a Kawi Ninja 300R done by a gentlemen with these figures at the rear wheel (No tune ups): Max HP: 34.45, Max Torque: 17.05

    Cheers,

Not sure if these videos have been already posted here, but just sharing close ups and sneaky preview of what we may expect out of R25's (rumoured) indian launch:

    and

Now please imagine the stock R25's muted sound getting pumped up by an Akrapovic or a Yoshi slip on, like in the case of a Ninja 250R:

    Cheers

there is a proper procedure of getting that proper top end, i guess you know, so its gonna vary in time taken (to hit top end) if you rip all gears like a racer and if you are going easy in all gears and throttle full in last gear. you can get that top speed in the "ripp" part but might not hit it in the "easy" part.

My R15v2 has got great handling but i can't say its very maneuvarable in traffic (not that it concerns me), certainly not as good as say an RTR.
First thing first, apologies for dragging in such an old post but I do want to share my views on this.

Handling is not something that can be explained in one word or how one bike acts. It has a lot of aspects like flickability, stability, line holding ability, traffic maneuverability etc. A 1000cc superbike would feel really heavy and difficult to maneuver in traffic or less flickable while going slow compared to say a 150cc bike like r15. So, can we say that it is a bad handler? No it has been designed in a way that as and when the speed builds(high speed is what it is meant for in the first place) it feels lighter and it gets far more easier to lean into corners while also being more stable than its younger sibling. Its all in the way the chassis, supsension, tire etc has been tuned for a specific purpose. Even a moped can be a good handler but it might not be very stable, same way a superbike is a good handler but not as flickable.

Another example would be a duke 200 and r15 v2, both are light bikes and both do similar speeds. The duke is more flickable and almost as stable when dealing with high speed corners, but, it does not have the ability to hold on to its line as well as the baby supersport. This can be because of a shorter swingarm or something else, I am no expert. So can we say one is a better handler? No, its all subjective and how one likes his bike. A lot of mottorcycles out there are able handlers but in their own unique way, and this includes some big burly cruisers.

So the whole point of this post is to let everyone know that handling as a term can not be explained as such. It can mean different things to different people. An uncle would find a superbike a really bad handler on the other hand he'll be really confident astride his 50cc moped, on the other hand a speed junkie would boast about his R15's handling prowess and how well it is able to deal with corners but would wet his pants while taking the same corner on a moped doing even half the speed.

    Ride safe!
    Gaurav

See the bike will have its peak power at 12K RPM, as per the official tech specs. So it will not max out at 13K RPM. It may max out at 13.5 or 14K, completely my guess.

    2) Launch the FZ-09 in India without delay.
    3) Kneel down at the feet of Arun Jaitely to ease the draconian custom structure for imported bikes(which doesn't make sense at all, since unlike cars we don't have local players making higer cc bikes). So an R1 at 8-9 lacs. An R6 at around 6-7 lacs

None seems to be a good business move...except points 2 & 3...but still those points also are for dream eyeds...4th point is the best one here helping somehow the economy...but anyways dis is nt a business forum but a biker's...and as a noob rider my vote will go to you for electing you the IYM head...only if the points in your agenda are really implemented...

154 kmph at 11000 6th gear with max power output at 12000 and revs all the way till 14000 means most likely, intuitively speaking, 170/175+ should be easily/regularly/normally doable (just as about 130/135 is regularly doable in R15v2) without the need of crouching etc, and with crouching and other conditions made perfect (least wind resistance type of day, etc), 180+ maybe even 185+ should be attainable.

    ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

in fact, since RPMs go to 14000 and it's only 11000 at the moment in that pic, he should rather be in 5th gear instead of 6th in order to maximize the engine drive at which point i suppose the RPMs would be somewhere in 12000-13000 range..so really, at least 175 kmph should be a regularly attainable number at 6th gear nearing 13000 (discounting about say the last 1000 RPM attaining which at 6th gear would require extremely ideal wind/road grip/tyre pressure/etc conditions, as in R15 and most other bikes whose last gear is not much of an asskicker but more of high speed cruising abler/maintainer and thus doesnt have any drive left in it to go all the way until red line against the high wind friction at that point, ) .

please please do that indeed if you ever become a head engineer/corporate in yamaha...a modern generation version of the 1980s/90s FZR250/250R 4cyl 4stroke 20000 RPM 45hp, pure race machine..if not that, at least just make the R3 for EU/NA a proper 2 cyl supersport and get it into india. :-) :P
