Agree. Yamaha would play safe and put a single cylinder engine. They would sell more bikes that way.

One of the main reasons why the R15v2 in not as maneuverable in traffic as an RTR is because of its longer wheel base. (the fairing, narrow clip-ons and the general bulk doesn't help)
But its a better handler than the RTR. Hence my point. Anyway, lets not worry about it anymore. ;-)

that's why i said handling as a general word means hand-ling of a bike in any and all kinds of scenarios (corners, hard braking, traffic, slippery road etc etc) and obviously some bike and some rider will be better in some of those scenarios than the other...a race bike is a better handling bike on corners, brakes etc and not in traffic (usually), a moped or small commuter is a better handling object in traffic but not on corners...

imo it's all basically a matter of semantics and the context in which one is using the word/concept, and how narrowly or broadly the word's meaning is being used/implied/expressed.

so that would imply it's not as good handling a machine in traffic conditions as something else that's better..

Answering that question looks futile. You dont want to agree be my guest.

Heard of Salolm test for bikes and cars? To salolm is to zig-zag. A machine that handles well will zig-zag pretty well. Zig-zag is flickability or Maneuverability.

Quoting "The slalom is an excellent test of a car and bikes transient handling prowess and is influenced by a number of factors including its suspension tuning, physical dimensions and weight, to name a few. "

No they are not! Maneuverability is a concern for the typical city commuter. Handling is a concern for the rider with intermediate or advanced riding skills (even for street riding). Handling really matters when a rider starts approaching the limits of the bike. Fact is most riders will never get there in terms of riding skill.

Number of Cylinders / position: Parallel Twin
This is the reason, we are not going to be seeing this in india anytime soon..
Overall lovely bike, it would be refreshing if it does come here

see this from about a year ago - http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/popu...k-250cc-class/ ... it seems the decision has yet not been finalised. i might have remembered a bit inaccurate but anyway that 250 class is soon expected to start happening.

yeah, it appeared to be the expectation at the time when aprilia said something about planning to go bigger in india and other major asian markets with plans of small cc bikes...i think this also happened sometime exactly a year or so ago from today..i had commented somewhere it'd be awesome to have a properly built 250/300 RSV2 (unless it's also a V4 :P).

still dreaming of a day that has the following open to buy and rip (and dreaming of that kind of free money :P) - a proper 250/300 YZF R3, ZX-2/3R, CBR250/300RR, GSXR250/300, RSV2 250/300, S250/300RR, panigale 250/300, daytona 250R :P :P well at least the RC 200 and 390 will be reality soon haha

    sorry guys, way off topic.

i believe filtering through traffic skillfully very fast yet safe through those usually narrow gaps and overtakes requires fairly advanced street riding skills mate ;-)

anyway, i meant handling's meaning as a general word includes the hand-ling capability of the rider and bike in any and all kinds of external conditions..of course, in some you and your bike will be good, in some not so much.

true story, with respect to the emphasis on that italicised word.

true story again. in terms of riding skill as well as even having the opportunity to test the limits of riding skills (which requires the availability of race tracks in several regions because that really is the ideal place where all to focus is on you and your bike and not random other things that forever exist or can exist suddenly on the public roads)

Personally i am really hot on the upcoming KTM RC 200. I love the Duke 200's powerband and that close ratio gearbox is just kickass! Also the 200 is quite refined and not vibey like the 390. (Going by the 200's owernership thread it does have a few quality issues though nothing major i suppose.)

me neither, but for very different reason than the demand for low power supersports in these times of recession and expensive fuel ..as i wrote once or twice long ago when the news of yamaha making some 250 sportbike became official (when they came out with that rossi and baby M1 prototype ad and etc), it appeared very sensible for me to imagine some of the major OEMs going into making full fledged 250-300 supersports simply for the reason that from 2015 or 16 (i forget) there's going to be a 250 class in world superbike series. that, i thought, would mean the major japanese four or even some europeans (i was thinking ktm and aprilia mostly since they both have had interest and experience in sub-600 cc racing machines in the past, but perhaps also bmw) manufacturers would come up with some really competitive 250 supersports for the purpose of racing them in that 250 WSBK class and slightly diluted road legal versions of some of those things will soon emerge in the markets to be sold to us..with the appropriate time with respect to that of the announcements of the R25 with that prototype ad, and of daytona 250 and what not, i really thought that was indeed what was going to happen. but turns out not.

perhaps that's what the YZF R3 for europe and north america is going to be, a real full fledged lightweight sportbike that enthusiasts there have been wanting for over a decade now and which with not too expensive and minimal aftermarket mods can be made professionally race ready for that 250 wsbk class (since the plan was to make it an affordable entry/feeder class for the bigger sbk racing). at least i continue to hope so, despite the fact that it won't be for me to buy one of those if it's really going to be for EU and NA only..anyways.

unless of course the plans of starting that 250 class racing in wsbk series has been chucked away with no one knowing about it.

i like this R25 as well though, very impressive specs and sport touring features surely makes it a very easy (as in comfy) ride which is also a huge plus in practical terms..but that part of mind that really has long wanted to have the option of a proper quality and reliable sportbike in the 250-400 class, perfect to power-upgrade from the brilliant R15v2, is left unsatisfied..

the way i see it, nimbleness, traffic maneuverability, etc is all part of the "handling" aspect...some people use the narrower sense of the word "handling" which means how it behaves under hard braking, cornering etc, but really handling is just how it handles in any kind of situation be it traffic flickability, hard braking, cornering, on slippery roads, etc :-)
