    Whoohoo !!!
Seems like it's gonna put a strain on Yamaha production schedule. [emoji4]
However, that last para makes me shudder with fright. What if yammy brought single pot to keep costs down ??

Yamaha YZF R25 brought to India for INR 2.16 Lakhs - Motoroids.com
    Its mere a cargo price

Are we confusing nimbleness with better handling?
Anyway, a 250 will not be quicker than a 150 in city at any time due to the weight difference primarily.

This time for a change, I'm happy the bike is heavy. At least cross winds won't affect it like the way they affect my R15!

Yamaha can as well keep the compression ratio high and still avoid jerks.
Won't retarding the ignition timing affect the power output/bhps? I don't think KTM has a knock sensor to gauge the fuel quality. Not sure whether just remapping will help in reducing pinging/ knocking on such a high compression platform which ideally wants 95RON but is getting 91 or lesser. Anyways not going further into this.. will be interesting to see how Yamaha works this out in the Indian segment.

I guess we have had plenty of discussions on the R25, pricing and handling . Time to see when when when?? I guess expected date of rumoured launch should be around diwali or december (ofcourse if at all Yamaha wants to launch it!!)

    Cheers,

I think its obvious that the R25 is not going to be an R15 beater in the handling department. There is a reason why almost much all the race machines out there use a perimeter frame not a tubular frame. The R25 may have the looks of the R15 but not its purpose.

Honestly i can't understand why none of the Japanese manufacturers are interested in making a hard core 250-300 cc twin with the chassis, suspension, brakes, stock tires and other stuff specced like their supersports. In these times of high oil prices and economic recession i just can't believe there's no good demand for a scaled down supersport bike. :shakes head:

    I perfer bolds

By the way if it might interest you, the Ninja and the R15 are almost so perfect in what they do that they feel almost BORING after a point of time! The R15 with its aggressive riding stance has a bit more "character" for me than the Ninja though.

But Hey..!! That's Me.. and Lucky me that I choose to be an "Agnostic".

Guys please correct me if i am wrong on this: international model KTM 390 has a higher compression ratio somewhere around 12.6:1 recommending 95 RON whereas the indian model has a lower compression ratio?

R15 is good but its NOT God. But to its credit, the R15 does a pretty good job in Commuting (with decent fuel efficiency) on our congested cities as well.

Payeng, its quite evident we have difference of opinion. Just like you I too have experience on riding these bikes in city, on highways, on twisties and my experience has been quite different than yours. And I am intentionally not typing in bold. It helps to stay cool.

And yes, R15 is God in handling in India. Cant help if you dont agree.

Having said that, to each his own. Good Luck with your riding.

Another way to TEST Handling: Rip the bike and then Brake Hard.. amount of confidence one gets on the Ninja, R15 and 200NS (in that order) is something that the Duke can't match (the 390 is better than the 200 Duke on the "fast" handling part though).

P.S: Haven't ridden the CBR150R, but have heard its a good handler too.

Filtering through traffic is flickability or Maneuverability as you rightly said. On corners I could lean lot more than a Ninja. Yes, Ninja feels planted on straights or corner, but my experience suggests R15 is 2 notches above. But then if you are more comfortable on a Ninja 250 so be it for you.

Next comes the Duke, it is fun in its own way. And then probably Ninja 250. 200 NS isnt in that league so far.

Being more powerful doesn't make it easy to corner. As a matter of fact, you might not even have a higher exist speed just because the engine is powerful.

The R15, especially the version 2, was chiselled into corner carving. Focussed much more to make better lean angles.

Ride any Yamaha bike and you will be surprised by its handling prowess. Even their tiny little scoot (RayZ & Alpha) handle, corner, filter like anything. Yamaha have always had handling and dynamics sorted out. I dont expect R25 to be as sharp as R15, however I wont be surprised if it did.
