  • Honda CBR 650F launch on 4th August. Bookings Open!

Honda CBR 650F to be launched on 4th August 2015. News has been confirmed by Honda. Also, bookings have been officially opened. Booking amount is Rs 50000/-.

Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) plans to introduce CBR650F by July this year to mark its entry into the premium motorcycle segment, according to a top company official.

We are planning to introduce CBR650F sometime in July. It will be completely assembled in our plant. It is part of the Make in India concept promoted by the government...," HMSI, President and CEO, Keita Muramatsu told reporters here
According to him, the plan to make an entry into the 650cc premium motorcycle segment was part of the proposal to introduce 15 new models this year.

He said the company would introduce seven brand new models equipped with new engine and chassis.

Asked on the localisation levels of the CBR650cc motorcycle, he said

Initially it would be around 5% as it will be brought in India as a completely knocked down unit and would be increased in a phased manner.
The price of the motorcycle, he said would be around Rs 8 lakh
Currently, HMSI retails CBR150cc and CBR250cc apart from CB Unicorn, CB Trigger, CB Shine, Dream Yuga, Dream Neo and popular scooterettes Activa and Dio.

On the total sales target for this year, he said the company expects to sell around 45 lakh units compared to 37 lakh units sold during same period of last year.

HMSI currently has three plants in Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka with a total capacity of 4.60 million units. The company's fourth plant set up in Gujarat, at an investment of around Rs 1,100 crore was expected to begin production early next year.

"It will be ready early next year. It will manufacture scooters. The capacity of the plant will be 1.20 million units," he said.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

5% localization? What does that mean, MRF tyres? :-D
It's a great news though; wonder where they are with the 500 series.

Let's wait for TNT 899! I would personally save up more and go ahead with my dream of getting a Daytona, makes more sense since we can't change superbikes every few years.

The prospective price to me seems to be a little more on the higher side for a 650cc. Let's hope Honda surprises us with a reduced OTR during the launch!

Made the correct decision to go for the Z800.

5% localization, is this for side stand and saree guard and mirrors ? Price of 8L and above sounds like its is a CBD price to me which will make it uncompetitive in its segment.

But seriously, What a waste. Made a mockery of "Made in India". Could have waited a year or so, and launched a truly made in India bike at the optimum price.

hehe... it's like a deja-vu. This line has been used before... but when the CBR650F will finally launch (even at 8 on road), the ones who would want to buy it, will buy it with open arms.

CBR650F will do decent numbers. Honda has never priced it's bikes too competitively, even the domestic models. CBR650F being a 600cc, people are taking Ninja 650R pricing as benchmark and hence the disappointment. Launching the bike in 7.xx lakhs range might give some psychological consolation to prospective buyers.

I disagree. How can a bike which is selling at 30% premium over another popular Jap brand sell in decent numbers? If you are meaning it will sell similar numbers to N300 it might be reasonable but even that is a stretch IMO. And Hero's future Hastur in this regard will make it a non-argument.

Hero's Hastur will hardly do anything to Honda's CBR650F... and the Honda is likely a better tourer than the more powerful Z800.. personally I believe CBR is quite safe, though less price will always make things better

The bike retails for 6.5 lacs in other parts of the world, with make in india it should be lesser than this or atleast on par with this figure. Trying to price it as 8 lacs is just to ensure high profits for Honda India at the cost of the customer. They know people would still buy.

However, the bike is actually a step down compared to the model it replaced CBR600F which was Daytona/Street Triple competitor with USD forks and 105 bhp to tap.
