  • Honda unveils the CBR250RR in Indonesia!

    EDIT: July 25, 2016
Honda Two Wheelers finally unveiled the CBR 250RR in Indonesia today, and it looks killer to say the least. Teasers of this bike have been floating around on the internet for quite some time now and we must say the wait has been worth.

The Honda CBR 250RR retains Honda's Light Weight Super Sports Concept design with minimal changes. It just looks more muscular and chiseled. It is powered by a fuel-injected 249.7 cc, parallel twin, liquid cooled engine. The power and toruqe figures have not been revealed by Honda though. This engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission and has got 3 different riding modes - Comfort, Sports, & Sports+. The other goodies include ride-by-wire technology and USD front forks and aluminum swing arm. The fuel tank capacity is 14.5 L. Dimension wise, the CBR 250RR has 2060 mm length, overall height of 1098 mm, seat height of 790 mm, overall width of 724 mm, ground clearance of 145 mm, and wheelbase of 1389 mm.

It will be available in 3 different colors - Racing Red, Anchor Grey Metallic. & Mate Gunpowder Metallic.

The CBR 250RR definitely looks like a buy worth buying, but whether or not it will be brought to India or not is not clear yet. But if it indeed comes to India, Honda needs to be very careful with its pricing because it will be competing directly against the likes of KTM RC390, which is priced very competitively.

Honda confirmed that they will be building a Light Weight Super Sports motorcycle as they provided a render of the concept motorcycle. Though the bike eventually will probably look different from this render, we cannot help but feast our eyes on this bike from the Japanese giant which will take on Kawasaki and Yamaha in the smaller capacity sports segment.

Light Weight Super Sports Concept: Designed with the key phrase “strong presence,” this next-generation super sport concept model and features a look possessing a sense of speed that comes from its long nose and low crouching position. The combination of a plane architecture, which indicates the sense of hardness and solidity, and sharp edges emphasize the aggressive look of this model. Moreover, the exterior featuring matte-black-based low-contrast graphics expresses beauty and the remarkable form

Young Machine, the sole magazine responsible for successfully leaking out details of the R25/R3, Ninja 300 and the 400R/F/X in the past had earlier this year reported on Honda possibly reviving the inline-4 250RR from the yesteryear glory days of 20k rpm street going mad bikes. Similarly a news broke out about Kawasaki too planning to revive the i-4 counterpart in a rumored ZX-25RR/3R.

Now, Young Machine magazine claims to have uncovered that Honda will be displaying the 250RR at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015 that is due in October this year. The catch is that instead of the I-4 they had claimed in January, the bike is now said to be a twin(unsure if parallel or V-twin) belting out hp/torque figures in the same ballpark as of the R25/R3.
While the translation from the magazine is sketchy, it seems to quote that USD forks and Radially mounted brakes are somewhat confirmed, but the underbody exhaust design in the reference illustration has not been confirmed. Bike will sport Led lights all around
    The project was codenamed "K64".

P.S: Image pictured in attachment is only an artist's illustration and not the actual design of the bike. Other images were cut from the magazine from various sources.

re: Scoop: Honda CBR 250RR Confirmed

AFAIK, An inline twin is most likely to go by either of these 2 setups:-->

      1. One piston goes up, one down. This will allow only a 540'-180' firing order, which means pistons will fire closer to each other. This will give it a torquey nature and even the sound will not be too much like a multicylinder. A good example is Ninja 650/ Er6n, but again, they're higher capacity and that's why more cylinders make sense, (more cylinders reduce stroke value and piston speeds per rpm and all)...

Although, Honda is known for its torquey approach, I don't think this should happen on a 250cc, because its better to have a single cylinder instead, at this capacity specially.

      2. Both pistons travel simultaneously, side by side. This approach allows an equal firing order, that is 360'-360'. This is like Ninja 250 and 300 AFAIK.
This gives the engine sporty characteristics, and a better exhaust note.

The above engine cutout picture is not that clear about the second piston's position in reference to first, but it might be setup 2...
Although, personally, I am just dying to ride a low capacity inline 4, much like the 250cc-400cc inline4s from the 1990s. Although, it may just not happen, seeing Honda and the other Japanese companies' approach... Plus, they're expensive to own anyways, irrespective of capacity.

What do you think guys? Although, nothing is confirmed, but which of the above two inline-2 setups, do you think will be used by Honda?

Or will Honda actually go for a V Twin, for such a small capacity engine, that too on the sporty side...?

I personally wish a low capacity inline 4 from Yamaha/Kawa. Don't know whether they are going to launch that or not.
But good to see this from Honda nonetheless!

re: Scoop: Honda CBR 250RR Confirmed

The reason why the small capacity inline fours were stopped was because of cost. The cost of machining a small four cylinder engine is almost same as big capacity bikes. And makes no sense to price it lower.
But I seriously want them to utilise Thai factories or make one in India at low cost! And recreate the magic of those 20000 rpm legend of motorcycles!

              Buddy,
The news or rumor, has already been posted below here:- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/323...ow-2015-a.html

Secondly, when I tried opening your link in the unlikely event of some new info regarding this, I ended up seeing some random Auto-news items which had no connection with CBR250RR. You can try the link yourself.

Hence, not much discussion is possible, as a topic is already open on this. You can PM me in case of any doubts or new information, and I'll open it. Take care.

EDIT: You probably mean this link:- http://www.motoroids.com/news/war-of...mall-big-bang/

So, CBR 250RR and 350RR... Hmm... 350RR is new to my eyes. Will have to check it out.

That render is so freaking beautiful. I'm hoping the new RR will be even half as attractive as the speculative renders have been.

October is approaching and Suzuki, Honda and Kawasaki are rumored to be battling on the stage with their entry level sport bikes
