Its not. Maybe the showroom(s) you visited might have unsold stock but the production of 200NS stopped ages ago.Originally posted by sree@mumbai View PostDear 200 NS is still available in the market and to my surprise the TVS Apache looks like a MOD of the current series, WHERE IS THE DRAKEN CONCEPT?????
and with the new Pulsar launch around the corner, TVS is always a step behind the competition..

Re: Launched: TVS Apache RTR200 4V @ 88k and Victor for 49k
Disappointing tech specs of the Apache.
Pricing is decent but then again TVS will lose out in the performance domain which is the core requirement of this segment. TVS might justify themselves by saying that the torque curve is sufficient for daily city rides but then they are shying away from the very meaning of the name RTR as termed by them.
TVS needs to come out of their cocoon and do something radical otherwise they will get stuck in providing edgy bits here and there and not on actual on-road performance.
Victor on the other hand without any fanfare has spot-on pricing/features/3V tech etc. This bike will cut the cheese for TVS but they have to pull up their socks for RTR series othewise it will be a major downhill road for them despite their alliance with BMW.

Re: Launched: TVS Apache RTR200 4V @ 88k and Victor for 49k
The way I see it ... maybe its not a competition for the higher powered 200s. But when considering that I have to buy a Hornet 160, I'd rather have this bike.
VFM is more important than performance numbers and for some spending more than 1lakh might not be an option. And on roads, we are not really going to exploit the extra 5bhp. If the power reduction comes at the cost of better Thermal, Fuel and Vibration Management then I'm all for it.When I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.

Isn't the Ns 200 coming back with Fi already? That was confirmed I guess.Originally posted by RoyalIndian View PostAh so no announcements were made for the FI version? That does mean India isnt getting the FI version
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
You never know, Bajaj might surprise you. They might have been waiting for TVS to launch the RTR 200 only so that Bajaj could drop the NS200 FI bomb on them like a BOSS

I don't know what the cribbing is all about!
Victor is a good offering and I'm glad TVS unlike other manufacturers didn't put candle lights in the headlamp. Same goes for RTR too.
If we see the direct competition, RTR 200 competes with Pulsar RS200, D200 and P220. Nothing else. NS200 went out of production more than a year ago.
Now, for people who want a naked street fighter, but who feel Hornet/Fz/Gixxer under-powered can opt for this bike. I, for one would opt for RTR over D200. Don't get me wrong; I love the Duke, but its a bit too much for daily riding. Those short gears, heating issues and yet-not-so-great-quality parts and spares would keep me away from the Duke.
Also, it wold have a better sound signature and cost me less upfront.
I'm sure there are many people who think likewise.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

1. Fuel injection? Yes! (Easy Remap)
2. ABS Dual channel? Yes (Best in class again)
3. Better tyres? Yes! (We got you covered there too)
Also, i don't think comparing specs of paper is something really good. A track test between the D200/Rs200/Ns200/As200 and this will be spell binding! No?
Cheers!

its not a fancy way of saying it sir.. oil cooled means the engine oil is cooled via a radiator which in turn helps with keeping the engine temperatures under control.Originally posted by RoyalIndian View PostIts still air Cooled. Oil cooled is just a fancy way of saying it.
this is similar to the setup on the p200, p220, avengers.
Sir, cribbing will always exist for what's not available.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostI don't know what the cribbing is all about!

example: if the d390 came with mrf's people would have said 'cheapos for cost cutting gave mrf' - now give them metz and how many ppl do you see changing tires to metz when its time ? thanks to the www , all this cribbing will go on.. and unfortunately some folks even make their decisions based on such comments without even riding the bike.
as you have pointed out, there is a market for this bike at this price point and i think it will see decent sales. if only tvs does some aggressive marketing campaigns!

Rightly said, may be we cannot compare low end RTR200 to P220/AS200 as they still remain a VFM tourer+commuter..but it is for sure going to hurt the sales of Hornet,Gixxer and to some extent the Fz as well.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostI don't know what the cribbing is all about!

D200, I believe is for purists of a different league, so may not be impacted.
Whereas the ABS+Fi+Pirelli equipped variant might eat away RS200 ABS sales.

Decent pricing.
Keeping up with the latest designs.
and to add the grown fan base of apache over years, i think 7000 is a do-able number ( i may be wrong, but its my personal opinion.)
It feels good, when a home grown manufacturer like bajaj and TVS launch aforadable performance bikes, bringing the enthusiasm in riders where the big manufactures like Yamaha,Honda & hero have failed.
Wishing TVS a very good luck & hope this bike does well in the market.

More than anything else, I feel that Indian companies are catching up to global standards on the refinement aspect. I feel that this component was long overlooked in the quest for reliability/power/mileage but it is good to see focus on this area as well.
Lock down on the refinement aspect and the perception of quality increases. Well, it does in my view anyway.200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER

On one hand I also feel that the engine could have been more powerful and liquid cooled etc etc...
But, 1. Giving the choice of so many variants in the future ( FI/carb, abs, tyres) is a good move.
2.The price I feel is good. Will definitely be a btr choice than the similarly priced new gen 150cc bikes . What will be the OTR price?
3. The more I look at the pics the more the bike starts to look better. Kind of grows on you but in general its more like a love it hate it design.
4.It has been launched at a perfect time. Consider my case itself..
If everything goes well I might be buying my first bike in 2016 and the budget is around 1L (OTR price). I always wanted the NS200 but Bajaj for some stupid reason stopped it. So at the time of buying if the NS200 FI is not there this is the best choice and one can go for it without any regrets. Duke,RS,TNT25 is above budget, don't like the AS , karizma is dead and don't want a <180/200cc bike. Anything else coming up in this segment?
Nice one TVS! Bring on high quality VFM Indian performance bikes

precisely.. there are lot of young potential customers like you and there will be in future.Originally posted by kc_1602 View PostIf everything goes well I might be buying my first bike in 2016 and the budget is around 1L (OTR price).
for those who have already owned a similarly powered bike, it might not be very appealing or their next buy.. but it still does have a market.
people are slowly opening up their pockets and upping their budgets when buying a two wheeler (across all ranges) and tvs seems to have got its pricing spot on.
