From what I understand by watching the video over and over again and referring to multiple websites offering first look and a small review of the bike. The Petrol Tank is made of the steel used by Vikrant. If you actually see the size of the ship. It can provide alot of steel from it enough for a tank worth of steel to be created for around 2 to 3 years but since the Tank of the Bajaj V15 is huge maybe thats the reason they have said they can provide Vikrant's steel only up to 2 years and after that they will create regular V15's.

Also to let you guys have my view of this bike. Bajaj has tried to keep the look of the bike clean and new but also tried to cost cut in many areas. which is alright by commuter standards since commuting bikes have been known to sacrifice somewhere or the other. The engine size is not that bad but the torque is good for a 150 cc bike. They could have given an option for a semi digital/all digital console, rare disc, led day time running lights and some more goodies with this segment first bike. But you know Bajaj and I know Bajaj and we might differ here so dont start a text war with me but Bajaj is known for cost cutting anywhere they can and this is a by product of that.

Models should have been a Basic model V15 with whats already there, a Premium model with cowl, Led day time running lights, Semi or full digital console, rare disc brakes and some other goodies. being V15 C (C being comfort)

Other then that, Well played bajaj for a good looking Commuter which looks 500% better then discover. Will it take over the market? Only time will tell but if I had a choice of keeping two bikes, I would get this for daily commuting for sure just because of the cool looks and comfort.

Didn't you mean "No INDIAN manufacturer" is worth all the glory fanboyism.

The funny thing is that I used to write/argue similar heated debates too when I was naive. I guess this concept of "At the end of the day all these products are machines and have their own pros and cons" is a little too much for guys under the age of 25!

Back to the topic, this V looks like an AFTERTHOUGHT, not well planned. It will look too plain vanilla on road. Seating looks like a mix of commuter and cafe racer. Still I am not saying that it will be a flop, it may turn out to be a huge success.

It is unlikely that Bajaj has bought the entire steel of the Vikrant. I think we can check who bought the entire ship and they will have details of how much scrap steel was sold to Bajaj

Bajaj should have launched a twin cylinder engined Cafe Racer or Cruiser to take on the Enfields. The Vikrant Steel gimmick would have worked here.

Don't know why some people here feel competing with enfield is a joke or very easy task. I feel no body in the world of two wheelers has that charm and karizma to compete with enfield apart from harley which is in different segment.

Anyways, 150cc Vespa costs 96 lacs on-road Navi Mumbai, this being 300 CC I dont expect it to be less than 1.5 to 1.7 lacs. Especially when Vespa has been vocal about not looking at numbers but exclusivity.

Now now, lets not forget UM Motorcycles are launching here.

The UM Renegade Sport S, Commando and Classic are priced at INR 1.49 lakhs, 1.59 lakhs and 1.69 lakhs respectively (ex-showroom). The company will be focusing only on cruisers in the first phase of its Indian operations.

Firstly RE is not selling cruisers only. As far as UM is concerned, I don't think UM have that potential and it shows from their monthly sale target which is 3000 units only whereas RE is selling 40000+ units consistently from past several months and they have few things in their pipeline also which will further boost-up their sales. Even a good cruiser like avenger which was priced reasonably didn't created any kind of dent in sales of RE. In fact it created its own segment and still it attracts its set of buyers. Same will be the case with UM. They are just marketing their bikes like that and using RE brand name to get a bit of attention from media and aam janta.

Bajaj is one of the few companies that actually has the capability to take on enfield. Remember when everyone laughed when Bajaj moved from being a scooter manufacturer to a bike manufacturer? See what they did with the Pulsar range?

Apart from India, i don't think enfield sells so much.

On topic the bajaj v15 needs to be priced appropriately else it will end up eating share of the avenger too.

For your knowledge RE is the undisputed king of premium or you can say 1 lac plus segment in India (which is not a small market by any means)and that too by huge margin. Trust me it is very tough to extract such an amount from the pocket of any person in India. I am not saying RE is perfect or best in that segment but their is some thing magnetic is it which pulls people like crazy and that is why it sells like hot cakes.

It's the old school sound and a habit of Indians to have an RE other then that this thread is about V15 not RE let's talk about this bike please.

Bike looks different as compared to others in the 150cc segment.
But imo, Bajaj has let go a good chance to make a difference by making it a little low on power. Though there will definitely be buyers but a little more power would've done no harm!

I was expecting it to at least get a new engine with 160cc or 180cc or 190cc and not a discover one. That way it could have gotten a little bit more torque and some power, it's not always about top speed but usability on the Indian streets and highways.
On the other hand, this bike is for all Indians to utilize and I think Bajaj wants to capitalize on that and make more money. Bajaj has been known as the common man's dream bike maker and that is what they are going after with the V15. I'm sure there will be a V20 or V25 around the Conner as well to cater the power hungry Indians. If this bike would be a success then only.
