Overdrive says that Akula launch is confirmed for 2017, and it could be in market by November.

When the TVS Akula 310 concept, based on the BMW G310R motorcycle, was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, it instantly took over imaginations of bike enthusiasts. No one could have guessed that this can be turned into reality within such a short span of time.

The TVS-BMW JV started way back in 2013!
The BMW G310r was showcased in Nov 2015 and went on sale in 2016. So, that is around 3 years to develop and manufacture the baby BMW (from the ground up).
TVS Akula was showcased in Feb. 2016. But even after a year and eight months (and counting) the production bike is not yet ready for launch. It is known that the "Akula" has the same engine,chassis, suspension, brakes etc. as the G310R. All that TVS has to do is "Modify" the beemer and start tooling.
TVS management is not firm as to what has to be made.They keep on changing their minds on the final product. (Eg. RTR200 was about to come out with a six speed GB then the mgt. dropped the plan)

P.S - I'm a fan of TVS motors and I have been associated with TVS bikes since 2002. TVS's management is totally flawed and needs to change their approach to today's needs to be competitive.

Insider news-
1.The TVS 310 might be launched during the festive period (Oct.) but it will go on sale only in early 2018 (may be after Autoexpo 2018) deliveries of the bike will be in April/may ! The production of the bike is going to be in few numbers per month and can expect long waiting periods. Thats like effectively 2 years!
2. The BMW G310r is NOT going to be sold in India( maybe for few more years atleast, courtesy of the JV conditions maybe) as it will affect the sales of the TVS counterpart.

Almost production ready apache 310 spied. Gets fairing mounted RVMs, sareegurad and tyre huggers, and ergonomics comprosied to a sport tourer.

Somebody form Chennai can plz go & see wether that showroom Manager is telling lie or they actually gonna display the bike in 3rd week of. Nov 🤔

Fingers crossed. TVS still does not sell FI+ABS RTR 200 in Pune despite launching it early last year.
