  • Royal Enfield 750cc Parallel Twin [Spied]

The new 750cc motorcycle by Royal Enfield has been spied testing In Spain. It's a Parallel Twin motor and is expected to have a displacement of 750cc or so. Expected is a 6 speed gearbox which will also be all new. In the pics you can notice that it is a carburated variant but the final product is expected to have a Fuel injection unit.
The twin exhaust pipes are also clearly visible in the pictures.

This is the first time that the manufacturer is developing a twin cylinder motorcycle and it is expected to compete with the Triumph Bonneville though at a much lower price point.

Royal Enfield had parallel twins before when they were in England I guess, as Super Meteor and Interceptor.

The new motor looks like a shorter stroke twin and so they are completely changing the long stroke single philosophy. And this motor looks like has a Carb while they are going with oil cooling, so it doesnt look old school and its not modern.

And that oil filter at the bottom jutting out from crank case, even though better from maintenance pov, is an eye sore. I hope it can clear the Mumbai spine breakers.

Maybe its improbable, maybe it won't ever happen... But a bored down 500 of this twin engine would do justice the Himalayan IMO.

Re: Royal Enfield 750cc Parallel Twin [Spied]

Owning a GT I always felt that the frame is just too rigid and too big(wide) for the engine. it almost hides within the frame space & the bike feels a bit too wide for a Single cylinder!!! Well well... my hunch was right. that a twin engine can be easily slipped into the frame. You can check my 10000kms review thread I had always felt a right upgrade for this bike is a twin engine. Good Job RE. Ihope to see it soon.

Doesn't make much difference as it would make with a liquid cooler.. Not to forget, the HDs are air cooled too.. I am not sure about the new HDs but yes, till the 2014 AFAIK they had air cooled

Considering the on-road price of the Continental GT to be around 2.15 lacs.... How much price hike would adding another cylinder lead to ?

Yes you are right about the HDs. Seen a few Yamahas too with an oil cooler. If the engines are designed well, i don't think there is a need to add liquid cooling. The more the technologies added, the more the prices shoot up. 😛
