Re: Royal Enfield 650 Twin Engine Unveiled!
"Royal Enfield has been under Indian (the country, not the manufacturer) control for a minute now and has indeed managed to design an all-new engine for a fresh branch on the old family tree, but how far did they get from their roots? In looking for a competitor, I decided to go straight to the source for a slice of the true British flavor and landed on*Triumph’s Bonneville*T100. The similarities are remarkable, but at the end of the day, unsurprising."

Re: Royal Enfield 650 Twin Engine Unveiled!
Now that it's been pointed out, I cannot un-see it. It looks like someone put a Bonneville through a photocopy machine and pasted the RE logo on the tank afterwards.Originally posted by sparky View PostLooks all good, but I am not sure if the resemblance to Triumph street twin was unintentional.Urban Gypsies MC

Re: Royal Enfield 650 Twin Engine Unveiled!
Yup. They saw how much money Triumph is making worldwide via the Bonneville range and wanted to replicate it. Usable enough power/torque for our roads, one that feel like an upgrade to a Ferrari from the Premier Padmini type lineup they have now. Though this is the first time ever I've been curious about an RE product and am actually eagerly waiting to for the launch and to test ride how it feels. RE says their strongly looking into quality control this time. But I'm very skeptical too seeing the recent Himalayan debacle.
Three of my friends have the T100, Street Twin, and the new Scrambler. I believe they're overpriced by ₹1lakh. But for the money you get a very reliable and premium motorcycle with superior and modern build quality. They're absolutely loving it!
The Interceptor though modern for RE is definitely at least 3-4 generations behind Triumph. And from insiders I've come to know that the on road price won't cross more than ₹3.5 lakhs for the RE 650 twins, due to local manufacturing and being only one make for worldwide shipping.
So if they can give at least give 25% of the Triumph experience at less than 60% of price of a Bonneville in India, I guess they might succeed. Those who want that retro image motorcycle but need more a 'nuisance' free experience than Bullets but can't afford enough for a Triumph, they might settle for the 650 twins I guess.
But but but, at the end of the day a Royal Enfield is a Royal Enfield and a Triumph is a Triumph.

This is the 1960 Triumph BonnevilleOriginally posted by deejayrox View PostBelow pics of original 69 interceptor, new one and Triumph T100. Who copied who??
So who is it that copied Triumph now?
Like the person suggesting in the article link I posted previously, both of them had very similar looking motorcycles back then.
Cheers!

Re: Royal Enfield 650 Twin Engine Unveiled!
I never meant to say triumph copied any. But that RE was trying to copy the original interceptor. You can see it in the shape of the cylinder block and how the rear frame extends beyond the seat in both old and new interceptors.Originally posted by jazzysaravana View PostThis is the 1960 Triumph Bonneville
