Well it's true and boy are we glad. Yamaha has developed Race Kits for its popular R15 and FZ16 bikes with the help of Daytona Corporation, Japan. Daytona develops and supplies original and customized motorcycle parts and accessories to the International marketplace. The firm specializes is R&D and development of country specific high quality motorcycle parts for manufacturers.

Check out the video where Japanese test riders are pushing the Daytona RaceKits fitted R15 and FZ-16 to the limit. Seeing Yamaha work on a Race Kit for the FZ-16 as well shows how committed the motorcycle maker is about boosting performance-biking in India.

Coming back to the video, the only information we have as of now is that these Race Kits are heading to India real soon. Don't miss the Exhaust system, back step and Wave disk.

The second video is a must see as the test rider does some real neat stunt on the DAYTONA kit powered FZ16.
      Here's the link:

Can't wait to see these products in the Indian Market.
      Till then happy riding3

        Here's more from the Yamaha

I was watching a program related to the bikes and motors in CNBC TV18. They were airing the latest Pulsar DTSI 220 with some good features and of course comes at way cheaper price than R15. Guys! they were uttering every time and then that it is the fastest bike the country has! Is it so?? I thought R15 still has the highest top speed among its contenders...

Another confirmed news is that Yamaha is launching its upgraded version of R15 soon (source CNBC TV 18) They told that they will be with the coverage in a week or two time. Well, its a very good news for a guy like me.. who is owning R15 in the near future. It must be the step to cut off the competition from the new pulsar 220.

Well if they launch it, i am sure they will not raise the price.. coz no one is buying that and Yamaha will be the biggest fool if they increase the price.. or rather cut the price but at the same time cut down the quality.. Yamaha is known for its quality and reliability. Dont let it loose just for the sake of competition...
Cheerios Yamaha.. Cheerios R15... it still rocks... trust me

I also heard and saw some images of new R15, but it seems purely cosmetic... Are you sure that CNBC mentioned that the changes would be technical?

I think when a 250cc can be made in Thailand at 1.4 Lacs, its surely possible in India too? But then, we at Xbhp have spent countless days on typing what's possible... Rarely things happen.

OT, That is why I am of the opnion - don't buy anything and everything which is being served but which is not required by you or desirable for you and I mean all Indian bikes which have less than 250 cc or less than 25 PS are not desirable for people who are enthusiast bikers like members of xbhp. So, please don't buy bikes like ZMA, P220 FI/DTsi, P180, RTR 180, R-15 or all other lesser models, unless you are new to performance biking and want any of these bikes as your first performance bike.

Keep whatever you have classic CBZ, classic P150/180, fiero, old bullet, RD or whatever. If you look at the all these bikes there is a difference of only 10-15 kmph when their top performance is concerned.

At least, this way we can force, not force but try to force, our manufacturers to make available real performance bikes at reasonable price and with indianised service back up. I have adopted this approach. Even if nothing happens for a long time and one grows older, then becoming a cager would be a better option.

Hey there is a discussion on the R15 ownership thread too!!

Well...I saw this unveiling of the kits at the track..
Then the national riders Mr Srikandaraja and someone else took the R15s on to the track after which they came on to the stage..
What I understood is that there were 2 speced bikes..one with lower limiter and the other with higher limiter.
They said they touched 150-155 KMPH..

pictures uploaded in R15 owership thread

For a normal street user, who cannot get the new exhaust or the ECU whats the point in just installing the cams ,they would change the AF ratio and mess up the bike right? :S
HID kit and adjustable foot pegs are a welcome treat though
May your wheels always turn underneath you, your roads unfold before you to new places, and may your heart sing on the breeze as you ride.
