      This is a good thing that Yamaha is doing , I hope they push some ppl into building tracks around the country too !

            so is plonking in a racing ecu, high lift cam etc etc into the system minus the free flow exhaust make this thing appear legal ?

              I cant use the Yamaha ECU or whatever they give, coz I'm already over the spec. My engine is a lot more radical. A dyno of my engine and the Yamaha Kitted bike will reveal the truth.
              Their ECU cant work for the parameters I need. Right now my engine does not idle at even 1000rpm coz of the cam profile change over stock. All modified 4-strokes with radical cams dont idle. I'm running a stage 1 spec cam, but still the ECU does not support fuelling at the range I need to aid proper idling and hence it dies off. I need to literally keep the throttle partly open to idle the bike in a signal light. Again at revs beyond 5000, there is heavy fuel starvation and although I'm using an FID to alter the AFR there is heavy lean-ness. Which can only be handled by a fully programmable ECU to meet my engine demand.
              The Yamaha ECu will only work for a bone-stock engine and its still a open loop system with just a little timing advance and a different curve. Cut-off and stuff will still remain the same. This ECU cant do much to my engine in any case.
              The exhaust is also conservative over what I have built.
              Mine is already full race spec pipe hidden in a street trim.

              As for screwing things in a race track, I dont have to do that for now on my street R15. I'm already working on it!

                        can the racing kits bought by a normal rider ? can it be installed on every bike ? price of the kit ? will it come to all showrooms ?

                          According to the news if Yamaha sells the kits only for closed circuit uses, where will the majority go?
                          And anyways even if I end up putting the kit, how will the local trafficwalla know that I'm using an illegal street kit? I mean he may think of me as a poser with a 'superbike exhaust wannabe' thing.
                          So who will keep a check on that?

                                All this mayhem leaves with several doubts! If the kit's aimed at only the registered racers, who'll probably be getting it? Since it's a company given kit it'll have a few sacrifices to prevent the engine from stalling at idle,etc. Every true authentically registered racer'll make his own stuff..he won't depend or rely on a kit that's available off the shelf. And we also know racers keep their mod secrets with themselvbes, they get their stuff made with their very own race engineers or by themselves(already explained by Joel above).

                                So, there's no way Yamaha is either making a huge difference in its profits or image by doing this. So, will this kit be available to everyone for the company to get its investment back? If yes, will the customers be bound by agreements/bonds stating they won't use the kit outside a closed track? Or will they just issue statutory warnings stating it's strongly intended for closed-track performance only like how they say "Statutory Warning: Smoking is injurious to health" on the cigarette packets? :P
