IMO... thats not the case daOriginally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostDIY culture is sorely lacking here.
the thing is do we have parts for DIY?
every damn quality thing we need is unavailable here ??
things have to be imported and even if done so.... costs a bomb
thanks to custom duty and shipping
not all can bear expenses .... specially not amateur tuners or learners
ofcourse most dont belong to rich class
not many people have the courage to bear the expenses of DIY
its a difficult job ...... if you succeed ... its awesome and even you can make a fortune from your investment and if you fail.... still you had done a investment which went in vain....... it requires courage and confidence and ofcourse cash
we have excellent tuners here who have tremendous knowledge and potential
and many people on xbhp know to deal with their particular bikes
even you have amazing knowledge

When I was 15 I craved for bikes. When I was 25 I craved for some powerful bike in my Dad's budget. Now at 35 when I am myself a dad I am just waiting for this Pulsar 220 as this seems to be in my budget and might very well be my last attempt at speed

I believe that it is just an upgraded 220!Originally posted by dushyant View Postwell, the bikeindia thread says 'Is it a 200, 220 or the new 250??????????? What's cooking up? Actually it is the mindset of we Indians which needs to change. We tend to think of almost anything which we do not understand as rocket science. DIY culture is sorely lacking here.Originally posted by hell_glider View Postcouldn't agree more. also there was that article about students in Kerala who developed FI for 2-stroke bikes. brought about better mileage and better emission levels. and yet most people still thinkm FI involves space age tech. once you break any system down into its components, it stops looking as complex as it did earlier.
its all a case of willingness to put yourself out there. sadly, its lacking with most indian manufacturers. they develop one chassis / platform and then need to milk it for all that its worth. nothing wrong with that, but then they do not realise that one size does not fit all, and that they need to have a portfolio of different solutions for different applications.
a new motorbike chassis with mono shock suspension is NOT rocket science. its complex, sure, but not complex enough for our manufacturers to use the complexity as an excuse to shy away from developing one.

for e.g. ; sometimes you generally hear a brand of vehicle running and it consistently sounds bad, and you compare it with some other brand of vehicle which sounds so much better, and as someone who has done a fair bit of riding, one might find himself to be in a position to make a reasonably fair assessment of quality levels of a product without actually having to own one.
please note i have not mentioned ANY BRAND here. i am just questioning your logic about ownership being required to pass judgement about a product, which in my opinion is flawed. if you know your vehicles and your riding and are a reasonably experienced biker, a short ride on a bike should provide you a reasonable idea. but i notice your statement being made a number of times (maybe by other members as well) while defending BAL products.
Had you read the full post which was (rightly) edited by one of our mods, probably you wouldn't have questioned it!

Bajaj can not dispense off the Blue color...Originally posted by DarthVeda View Posthopefully there will be a blue one, I just love the blue p220
It sure has to be ther
One day I hope Bajajs will also handle like Yamahas and Hondas....Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View Post
Developing Mono-Shock or Perimeter Frame(Yamaha call it Deltabox) is not a one day or a one month job. It takes a lot of time and I guess people at Bajaj have also realised the importance for same.If they haven't then I can't help it.

yeah they can do it and i dont doubt itOriginally posted by ken cool View PostIf an engineering student (Alok Das aka inflammable) can develop a monoshock single handed as a college project, then mass manufacturers with billions going into advertising to showcase Hrithik Hroshan writhing in Htight clothes Hriding a Harizma HRacing a Fighter Haircraft should not have too much trouble developing a mono shock and getting the necessary changes on a chassis. i am just telling that developing a practical real life usable design is difficult and takes time
it surely can be done but at the moment companies are busy thinking sticker and color themes and adding and removing fairings .... until people stop paying heed to them .. its gonna be the same
and i dont think now honda is anyway interested in herohonda
it has realized that this market has great potential and is profitable
so they want to earn money first for honda themselves ... then just help hh for namesake ....
so for hh to survive .... they have to do things like this

if it was so easy
everyone would have added a monoshock out there
it takes unbelievable amount of time and research to design a practical usage chassis and a body........
and things like mass distributions and all
its hell complicated ........
