              • I watched the AD today some 10 times or so. I liked the background music And this seems like a trailer like MG said

                • Common trailer ?

I guess that's a common trailer for India and Latin American market ( I strongly feel that Bajaj will export them)

                  • P 220 Test Ride - Chennai

Though am not a active posting member, I have been going through this thread very regularly.

Happen to visit the Probiking showroom - Chennai by chance and the new 220 is available for test ride both in Dyno and On road. First i was offered the Dyno machine, which i put aside for time being and came for the Onroad test. Guys, i have not ridden a P 220 FI extensively, hence this is just another test ride story.

                    Initial observations:

The speedo console looks good and the self check is not fast enough to write home about, BUT YES it is faster than the previous versions.

The engine is not very smooth when you rev the throttle in neutral. It does give vibrations.

The engine has some sort of sensor plugged in to the left side, just right under the nose of the CARB, i believe, it must be the Temperature sensor to enable Temperature based ignition mapping as claimed. (Correct me if am wrong).

I was not able to find any niggles in the bike in external appearance. Looks Ditto of the P220 FI, except for the black treatment.

The golden colour calipers looks subtle in a red machine. Would look the best only in a black version. (The sad part is, black colour was not available in the showroom)

Regarding soft compound tyres, ?$?$?$. who knows ? looks pretty similar to the tyres on the P220 FI.

                    To the actual ride report.

220 are always a torque monster ( Read : Bikes under current production in India ). This is no exception, but, guys, if you double shift out of your pure laziness, the grunt looks a bit less than the FI. ( Can some existing FI owner comment in this ?? would help others )

Keep the RPM matched to Gear, it does give you a TUG forward every time you shift. The poor rep sitting behind me was having a hard time holding on to the grab rails

I weigh close to 78 Kgs and the Rep too around the same, yet the pull was effortless and the braking too.

Lets talk about something diff from the other pulsar iterations i have ridden.

Handling: Pulsars have always been very very flickable ( No Apachies and RTRs pls ), if you expect the same in the Carb version, it a no no. It is not flickable, Change in Rake angle should be the reason, but it seems to be the best bet to attack corners( pls dont compare to an R15 ) This machine has been designed to give a lot of fun factor to ride every day, with handling inspiring confidence to the rider. I had the road completely for myself and ride, flicking the bike to the left and right, the front seems planted to the road. That Read as: Suspension seems to be Made stiffer, could very well put and end to the choppy and bouncy rides( alas, I loved the bouncy rides when I used to tour ), but could very well hurt the back for ppl especially like if dropped in a pot hole.

Not too sure about the pillion ride comfort. asked the Rep to ride the bike to feel the comfort of the read seats. Only long ride will tell the true story, but i dint feel anything out of place.

Reg the Brakes, the same stint of pulsar family is maintained, though a bit more. They are always sharp, scary if happen to use them when parking the bikes, could very well offset the balance unless you get used to it.

One could also notice less front dive under hard braking (compared to the NEW 180 )

                    TOP speed???

But when decelerating, the bike did the same fancy intermittent Phut Phut sound, which i used get from my bike with a free flow with lean setting and closing the throttle from high speeds. In lay man terms, could it be because the bike was running a bit lean ?? Experts could comment better.

Dont just think of seeing that smile on the RVM of P 220. It will not just work, am talking about the mirrors .

                    Conclusion :
Matured rider would understand thats its an overall package, not just pure speed.
New 220, would just give an extra smile every time you ride it on. If you need a smile , then P220 carb is the one. This smile is not because of the fun factor, it also because of the VFM it offers. 79634 Rs OTR CHENNAI. Or if you are a serious person, just want to commute or tour, pick the ZMA. If you want a track oriented bike, pick the R 15. ( RTRs for some reason, have been felt as a punny bike if I site on it and have never enticed me. So have not ventured much with it except for the RTR 180 Which I took for a test ride a week back. Hummm, just ride an RTR 180, New 180 and NEW 220 CARB, the Pulsars will command your respect.)

This bike is good enough to buy, but Bajaj, you cannot deter me from my passion for Ninja.
Am still waiting. Need something higher to Shift in to. Its not how fast you ride, its all about how composed you ride and passion for riding.

This is my sole conclusion, if you wish to differ, pls.. This is just a democratic country and you have all the eligible votes.

                    RIDE LONG
