  • There are company logos on some products which are mirrored on the other side making them look odd. Adidas for example.
Similarly why can't people accept that the 'F' on the bike means something and that is 'Faired'. If they had to show some slits and vents through stickering, they would have made it differently.
CBF means City Bike Faired, many more bikes have a F suffix meaning faired version of the streetbike. similarly this is the 220F!

    • i guess the "F" turns out to be the most queried "feature" of the new 220.

anyways, my query is, since the marketing blurbs all say that the suspension is stiffer, aiding in much better handling, can someone pls. clarify if it is harder than that of the P180UG4 ?? or can it at least be set to as soft as the P180UG4 ? because, i suspect, with many people wanting to go for it for "cruiser duty", a soft setup would be much appreciated.

also can the fairing be removed ??

She said it was fun in the breeding,
But found it was hell in the feeding
When she saw there was no tit for Tat.

        why are you getting a P200, or u want a P220, right?
& the deal is worthless, ur bike should atleast get 45k.

        • Ride Report of the new 220 DTS-i

So my moment of glory finally came. Yes I got my first test ride on the most talked about bike right now and a pretty good one.

Before I start I would like to mention that I got this opportunity out of nowhere so no pictures from my side as I was not carrying any camera along with me.

For people who don’t know, I own a P220 DTS-Fi so comparing the new one with the older brother comes natural to me. The first thing that you will notice is the smoother but less grunty engine sound than the Fi. The acceleration is not that sharp for 0-20 but it picks very well after that and any person who is not a regular P220 rider might not be able to spot the difference between the two bikes till it reaches 60km/hr. The real fun starts after that and the bike doesn’t show any lag all the way till 130km/hr (Speedo Indicated). Infact it reached the 130km/hr mark with such ease that for the first time I couldn’t believe myself. It’s only after doing repeated runs that I realized that what I experienced is a reality and not my dream. 3rd & 4th gear are the place where Bajaj have worked to make this one quicker than its older sibling. Infact I touched 130-132km/hr (Speedo Indicated) on the 4th gear repeatedly during my test runs. The bike shows a considerable drop in performance after it crosses 130 and I touched a max of 143km/hr (Speedo Indicated) with still some juice left in the engine.

Although I didn’t get a chance to ride it through very tight corners but it definitely felt more nimble, planted around the corners and not like the earlier one which doesn’t want to move from its position. The bike is pretty quick around the corners. I felt it as quick as my Karizma. Also the main stand didn’t scraped even a single time although the setting was set at softest. If this was the older one then the main stand would have scraped couple of times during my test ride.

The front brakes need special mention. They are very very sharp & the feedback is superb thanks to the new steel braided pipe which brings the bike to a halt in no time.

The mirrors are still the same although the fairing vibes seemed to have decreased a lot but I guess a better answer can be given only after the bike has done some amount of kms.

As a Fi owner the only thing which I missed in the bike is the throaty exhaust note which I’m so used to from my Fi. The engine is now lot smoother and doesn’t feel that stressed even after crossing 120km/hr.

The biggest USP of this bike is the way it accelerates once past 60. I pity all the new owners during the run-in period. The bike is made to ride hard & all the new owners should give the bike its due credit.I also had a short spin on a stock R-15 in the evening and it felt underpowered.

The only bike i know which is not available for test ride is the R15!!

I guess it's upto the dealer whether to provide Test Rides or not.

BTW, R15's are very well available for test rides.
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

Nice mini report there MG, I had suspected that with Cat con addition and Fi removal the thumping factor of 220 will be gone, but still as we can see that 140+ on speedo is an easy cake for the new p220 which is 132 true easily and is better than its closest rival - The 15 so i dont care much for the thumping factor. This will be a tourer, Commuter and a more fun factor bike as welll..
I guess this is a super bang for your hard earned buck for all the petrol heads out here .
Maybe it'll make it to my garage after 6 months... Hmm
will wait till all the niggles of the first batch will be fixed...

150 can be touched with this one and there is possibility of even crossing it but as I said all fun lies in the 60-120zone.

The P220Fi thumping factor is missing but more gruntier than the current P200 and that too with a smoother bass.

There shouldn't be any niggles in this one.Remember P200 didn't have any issues expect that fork one which was rectified within a week.
