Bangalore : For the fast-and-furious generation, life is all about speed and thrill. Fast and drag races fuel an instinctive urge to hit the high road. And two-wheeler companies are wasting no time cashing in on this need to speed.

"If any other motorcycle in the category touches 135 km per hour, we will pay you for purchasing that bike," says an advertisement. It's sure to have sent millions of teenagers' heartbeats racing. But the department is not amused. "We're going to issue a notice to the company that is prompting youngsters to touch that speed on any other motorcycle," said transport commissioner Bhaskar Rao.

This apart, the department is proposing to frame a rule to make the company co-accused in the case if any youth who meets with an accident claims he was inspired by the advertisement or tried speeding after seeing the ad.

The safety of youths is a concern for the transport department. "The number of fatal accidents, especially involving the young, is increasing. Everyone agrees that speed is the prime killer, especially where youths are involved. As the head of , I have decided to issue a notice to the company that is prompting youth to reach this speed," the commissioner said.

There is huge competition among companies to capture the two-wheeler market, of which young people form a big chunk. Two-wheeler advertisements are simply mind-boggling, with each company striving to outdo the other.

"This is purely commercial exploitation, with these companies fuelling the imagination of teenagers. The companies may be right in their business modules, but we have to think about the youth, particularly their family members. Though the youth are lured to speed due to their age factor, parents and family members hardly support that. They are more concerned about safety of the children," Rao explained.

So like i said ealier, "The Fastest Indian" tag might really be the reason behind this. If they were sane they should have blocked the sales of M800 too that can go above 130kmph and can be afforded by any youngster. Why even allow imported bikes here. Finally all of us go on BMTC busses or bullok carts(Taxi's).

      Badhhaaaiiii ho!!!!!
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

This is simply infuriating.....who does these poeple think they are to decide what we shall buy and what not. Some old jerk sitting behind a sarkari desk thinks riding fast is stupid and bang here comes an article like this.

For the enlightening information of this fool...majority people die of being hit by a vehicle like a truck or so than by bikes and those who die on bikes are hardly found speeding....god help such people who make assumptions on the basis of shit...

Hmm......, So basically If the companies dont make ads teenagers will never ride fast again and they will learn the value of road safety and human life.

I put my life at risk everyday when I ride to office dodging MTC buses which seem like rolling serial killers. I wonder what ad inspired those drivers?

The approval for the 220 is still not done in Bangalore, I have been following up regularly, they have no updates to give me. It is getting very frustrating. I don't understand when a vehicle is homologated nationally, why it needs approval from each and every RTO. It is ridiculous.

Story has changed on my side. Went to Kiviraj this evening in an full intention to give them a piece of my mind and cancel the booking. But to my surprise things have moved a lot forward the salesman was all smiles when he saw me for the first time since booking. . They seem to have alloted my bike and he has promised to deliver the bike on Sat afternoon at the worst. They are expecting the RTO approval tomorrow or the day after. First set of bikes are expected roll out on Friday and he has promised to deliver mine on Sat.

I took a look at the bike alloted to me. Everything looks fine at the first sight. I have asked him to call me before the final preperations for delivery, so that i can take a more detailed look.

About the RTO article. Karnataka seems to be full of crappy news like that Banning English only schools, Commissioner gets out of the way banning fast bikes but doing nothing about number of people dieing because of BMTC/KSRTC busses. They have to realize that only difference in speed kills. If their opinion about speed kills is true then there should be thousands of deaths everyday on American roads and in Autobhan's. If i were to be as rude as him I would ban all Autos and bikes or any vehicle that cant cruise at 80kmph, cause they cause congestion and slow down traffic, cause pollution, frustration, Damage to all our cars and bikes(internal), allows people to be careless all of which also kills in a altered sense of fashion.

No I booked the grey color. I guess very few poeple book the grey. There were only 3 bikes alloted for Grey with them now.

@Chicane: Thanks. Waiting to get my hands on the bike(hope its not another one of those false promises, the salesman consulted his manager about 10 times before giving any details). Once i get it, in depth review gaurenteed.

If it was RED, then i would have blasted the salesguy.
I had got a call on monday asking me whether i like black color so that they can block a bike for me which i rejected. He said they will get back to me once they get RED stock.

I think i'm one of those petrol heads that needs to know that my bike is parked safely in porch to sleep well. Ever since i've booked my new Pulsar 220 DTSi, haven't slept. Keep dreamin of it and can't get it out of my head. Last night I got up in the middle of the night, had a terrible dream, dream't that I was running towards my bike and saw someone else ride away with it. Couldn't sleep after it, till I went down and found my bike where I had left it.

Come on RTO people, why don't you understand that people like me need their set of wheels to feel complete.

RTO approval in Bangalore done, finally, manager from Khivraj called me and told me that I can pick up my bike on Friday. Can't wait till then.

                                Whoa.......
