So one type of oil viscosity is not suitable for engine operation over different conditions, oil has to behave dynamically.

    2. On the contrary if you 'imagine' high viscosity at high speed/temp ... this means high friction tendered by thicker oil, engine heats up,.......similarly if you 'imagine' low viscous oil at low speed/low temp....the lube effect will be low and friction increases (chances of metal to metal rubbing become more).

My points neither supports nor dismisses Oil cooler, but employing of oil cooler should satisfies basic objectives (point-1) with detailed study and validation.
That is why engine oils have grading. So that they can deal with different temperatures and the viscosity is more or less the same within the grade limits.

    2. It would be really difficult to make the oil highly viscous at high temperatures, mainly because of engine temperature. And in the case of Bajaj's simple oil cooling technique - No Way. They need not worry about oil getting too viscous at high temperatures because of excellent cooling. I think the problem of oil becoming too viscous at high temperatures does not exist in the real world. Everybody wants maximum cooling. Nobody cares "What if I cool the engine too much and the oil becomes too viscous"

Thanks Arunmur for that informative post.

But why would you imagine if it is of no use in the real world at all, and why would you imagine if it has nothing to do with the point that we are discussing?

        • Bajaj's Oil Cooling: It cools the engine oil....that runs the engine cooler compared to a 'oil-cooler less' engine. But definitely does not go about cooling an engine as well as an Liquid cooled engine....finnito....

Now you guys take it cool with the oil cooler thing....

crossed 1000 km on my 220. today was cruising along at 80 kph when i heard growling sound behind me. checked the mirrors and spied a yellow karizma at full clip about to ambush me. had no time to downshift just whacked open the throttle. the zma drew up along side then the 220 began to open up the gap. soon i was 2 bike lengths ahead before slowing down for traffic. ahhh money well spent

I think it will be good idea on part of Bajaj if they give good price for used P200 in lieu of new P220 DTSi......they can atleast keep that smile on it's loyal base ??!!
