Dude, AFAIK from Xbhp, Auto choke works to increase the rpm in cold state, when you crank the self starter, or switch the bike's ignition on. ok? It has nothing to do with carburettor.
I tested P220 and found no such carburettor glitch! This was on a 2 km ride, on a 00 km bike.

I request you to get it serviced before it crosses 750 kms. and follow the run in properly.

Grafix, ARAI has made it mandatory for all car manufacturers to produce ARAI FE figures to customers on demand. Not sure if such rule exists for 2Ws. FYI, P220 DTSi is the first bike to have ARAI FE figure at 56kmpl (as per my knowledge).
PS: Maruti declared it's ARAI FE figures to media for all it's models, I own ALTO, I get 14-17 kmpl in city and 19-22kmpl on highway rides, ARAI figure for ALTO is 18.1 kmpl. Very fair figure from ARAI !!

          • Keep a Realistic Expect of 35-38 kmpl from the P220 under normal riding conditions.. if you manage to get anything more.. consider that a bonus.

Over expectation can often result in disappiontment.. therefore keep it real

            • Is it possible to sue ARAI for circulating such misleading FE figures. I mean 19.6kmpl on A-Star may even be 85% accurate.. but 56kmpl on P220 *might* not even be close (to the 35 I am expecting).

              • A Small OT: According to ARAI, Discover 100cc's mileage is 89 kmpl ...

And Bajaj's claim, under "realistic conditions" is 80 kmpl ...

Now, the customer's actual mileage, which would be yet another number, is awaited ...(?)

Dropped the GF of to her bus stop and decided I d ride to Popular to have a look see it was quite early in the morning about 8ish and the showroom was shut tight. But i could glance thru the glass walls at the bikes they had and could see only 180s the 09 180 looks really good I should say. Then on the way back got to a turn towards town instintively downed a gear on the FZ lean her into the turn and headed towards Kasturba rd to khix raj. The guy there was pulling all the the test ride bikes and parking em in the paddock outside and voila I set me eyes on the P220 for the first time and was mighty impressed with the bike's looks the front headlamp looks awesome and I really like the way the lights are placed inside that Visor up front, they had nt started giving test rides for the day and would only after 10:30 but I could nt wait decided I would go back there tomorrow afternoon for a ride, I asked the guy if I could kick a leg around the bike and get a feel of the riding position and wow it feels really comfy, I feel the bike will be great tourer.

So goin there tomorrow for the test ride and then on gonna live very frugally for the next few days saving the moolh for this stallion

                    • ARAI figures are ok but i guess they have to split it into ubran and extra urban driving patterns. That will give a more accurate number.

Still no sign of RTO approval here.

                      • I have always trusted ARAI certified mileage figures but this claim of 56km/hr seems too optimistic even under a highway run.

What's more interesting is the RTR 180 has a mileage certification of 53km/ltr!! I hope ARAI doesn't jeopardise their own reputation by succumbing to influence of the manufacturers.

you can't expect a bike to be the fastest and return 50 kmpl at the same time.
+1.Anyone who is expecting to get a mileage figure of 40+ should not buy this bike & should look for other alternative.

                          • Figures quoted by ARAI also carry a small fine print * Under Standard Testing Conditions.
What does standard testing condition for fuel efficiency mean?
                            1. Ambient Temperature not exceeding 18 C to 24 C
                            2. No load on the engine, standard level ground
                            3. Soft throttle opening and a continuous overdrive run on a dyno
                            4. No aerodynamic drag (since its mounted on a dyno)
                            5. Roller preset to negligible load.
                            6. Usually a bottle test - results in higher mileage (no idea why)
                            7. Ideal vehicle condition - includes a pre-run in engine, proper tyre inflation and no accessories.

These conditions, figures, parameters may vary from Agency to Agency; but what should be noted is that we usually never ride in ideal conditions.

In theory, some books recommend that the fuel efficiency claims can be reduced by almost 35% for a real world figure...

Thankfully the performance testing is not carried out on the dyno in many cases.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.
