Hmm..this is interesting. How about targeting the R15 with a 150cc engine. But i dont think Suzuki will be that aggresive in Indian market.

I heard from a Suzuki SBK dealer (won't mention the name but those who know where I went over the weekend will easily be able to guess) that the Bandit 1250, Gixxer 1000&a new Gixxer 250 are all slated for launch this year!

They have lifted the specs off a 125cc GP bike: Bike Spec - GP 125 - Road Racing - KTM Racing - KTM.com - Ready to Race. Even if it comes to he market it will be a very revvy engine with all the power packed in a narrow powerband in the higher rev range and almost impossible to ride on roads.

I am not sure if the R125 would beat the R15 in speed but it would certainly beat it in handling. Its got a more lower handle bars and rear set pegs, more streamlined body and fairings and wider rear tyres. The suspensions are also probably better and components are of better quality.

There was speculation running around in the Aprilia RS125 forums that Aprilia is going to stop production of the bike after 2010 because its becoming more and more difficult to meet the emission regulations. Every year they have to add restrictions to the ECU which brings down the power.

This sounds interesting, but please suzuki dont bring it in CKD form and price it in the region where Ninja is parked.

AFAIK there's no GSX-R250, the last one was produced in 1990! There are rumours of a goxer 125 though.

I have no doubt that it shall beat the pants of an R15 in handling terms, but performance? i have my doubts etched

and Poor Old Aprilia RS-125, shedding tears for it

I'd much rather it starts raining after-market stuffs like they get abroad. Then I can set out and customizing my machine the way I want. This starvation of after-market parts are what driving people nuts to device 4 exhaust on a single cylinder. But then in all likelyhood, when it actually does rain bikes, like 250cc, they will all be raining down on the rich lawn, forgetting lil ol me ....again.

But what exactly do you mean by performance. To me a bike's performance is a combination of power and handling and in that the R125 would certainly beat the R15.

It's too early to shed tears for the Aprilia, what I talked about are speculations by people on the RS-125 forum. What they say could be true but check out the new 2009 SBK replica RS-125, looks awesome.

MV Augusta is still rolling out their Cagiva Mito so hopefully Aprilia will keep the flame wars alive in the 125cc forums with new RS-125s

Sorry Sorry, i meant straight line acceleration and speed,
i put myself wrongly over there

yes, performance and absolute, can and should be measured and talked about on a track, where R125 with its impeccable dynamics would exceed,
but i really wanted to know what would happen at the drag strip?
