  • Finally, Kawasaki/ KTM's 600 are coming. 2 of them!!

"A Xbhp Member", earlier confirmed that a 600cc is coming, from his interaction with staff of BAL.
I hereby confirm his news to be correct, as far as sources go.

From these 4 bikes, Bajaj Auto are considering any two, which are to be sold by its Pro-biking Network:-->

    1. Kawasaki Ninja ER 6n (naked Streetbike, Twin Cyl)
    2. Kawasaki Ninja 650 R a.k.a ER 6f (faired version of ER 6n)
    3. Kawasaki Ninja ZX 6R (Supersports, Faired, 4 Cylinder, Expensive)
    4. KTM Duke 690 (Naked Streetbike, 654cc Single Cylinder, with 3 fuel maps, incl. one for low quality fuel, Expensive)

Xbhp members, kindly participate in the Poll and let them know what we want. Remember, that every machine has its share of merits and demerits.

My reasoning/ choice: ZX 6R should be there, cause its the first legal showroom 600 for racing purpose. Plus the fan following.

Second choice is tough. 650R is practical as well as good looking, but KTM Duke is also close in equipment terms...
But, its 650R cos its cheaper (some $7000), has longer lasting tyres, etc. compared to Duke.

Good luck man. ZX 6R has some serious following, that no other bike HERE can match.

I just hope they expand the Pro-biking network, upto Ajmer atleast, and then I'll consider 650R seriously.
If a $4000 bike costs Rs. 3L here, then we can HOPE that the $7000 priced 650R can be priced under/ around 5 Lacs or so.

Aryan bro, So would you let me keep an exclusive thread in "Superbike & Import" Section on Xbhp?

Unless one is a track fiend, I don't see logic in anyone buying the ZX6R except for poser value or a quick dash on the highway. The riding position is extremely aggressive, and the 650R seems a better choice if you want to truly enjoy road riding. Raised handlebars on the 650 R translates into a neutral riding position which is far more comfortable than the 250R. An oh, the seats. Much better than the 250R or ZX6R.

My vote for 650R all the way. Even if it comes to 5.5 -6 lakhs on road, I see a lot of takers. And no to the ER6N, I think it is one ugly looking bike compared to other nakeds available internationally.

The Ninja 250R carb version costs $4600 in the US before taxes and insurance, which ends up anywhere between $500-900 on top of the $4600 price. Depends where you buy it and your insurance risk.

Though i cant afford any of them. I will still like to see ZX6R and Duke.

In India people are crazy about sports bikes so a ZX-6R will definitely sell more than 650R or ER6n.

I vote for the Ninja ZX-6R alll the way.
@Bluevolt: I do understand ur point of view, there are a lot of tourers.... but if its 5-9 lacs we're putting in we would prefer to buy something which is AWE-Inspiring and something we would 'worship'. Atleast I would and I know a lot of people of my age group would (22-38yrs). And I do understand that the Ninja 650R (ER-6f) is a very practical bike, which you can use everyday, but as it is a big bike you would never dream of parking it in any place out of your 'sight'. So I am not sure of everyday usability, I also drove the 650R and it blows too much hot air on your thighs. And it doesn't look all that beautiful in person.. I do agree it would be great value and it has enough horsepower for our roads, but for most of us we would prefer something radical and practical. so compared to the litre class bikes I feel ZX-6R is very practical.. But at the same time even though its a track oriented bike, its won the 2009 supersports shootout,
2009 Kawasaki ZX-6R Comparison - Kawasaki Sportbike Motorcycle Comparison Review - Motorcycle USA
Its just a few points behind the HONDA CBR600RR on the street, overall its a clear winner.
The 2010 model is not very diffrent from the 2009 model, that is if the 2010 ZX-6R comes to India.
and also @Bluevolt: No offense intended. I just wanted to justify myself and few of my buddies why we want a decent supersposts under Rs.10 lacs, which I feel is very buyable for us middle class people compared to the superbikes

press reports suggests that bajaj will not overlap the kawasaki and KTM bikes. kawasaki bikes are to be track ones like ninja and KTM bikes will be for touring may be also off road DT type. we may also see local 250 CC bikes from bajaj, honda , mahindra , Tvs this year itself all priced around 1.50 to 1.75 lakhs.

Don't get all so over-excited thinking about affordable prices. The Duke is $11K and the ZX-6R is $10K. These things have a high chance of going around 9-10 lakhs here. (Assuming CBUs)

The only cheaper stuff here is the ER-6F/N coming in at around $7K, which would make it around 7 or 8 lakhs.

For both I think the homologation fees will add up too.

                            Not so cheap eh?

Then, What about the India Kawasaki Ltd. setup here in India?

It clearly says "manufacturing, importing..." which points to a CKD possibility.
