  • Guys, just to let people calculate on their own, these are the Thailand Prices of the bikes in question:-->

    Ninja 250R : 147500 Thailand Baht

    650R : 257000 TB
    ER 6n : 245000 TB

By this equation, I think Bandhav and Riaz are right, in expecting around 5L.

I did some calculations based on a rough on-road prices of both Ninja's, and the calculation came out to be 5.35 Lacs on road for the 650R.

By the way, let it release... I'm waiting to actually purchase it.

    • As per chennai pro-biking they have no clue about the ktm 600 aka duke 690 launch but the ninja 650r ie ER-6F is gonna launch in a couple of months, not sure of price & other stuffs.

OT: While speaking of these 2 six hundred cc bikes, the manager told that the ninja 250r is now available in 15 days or immediate(if the buyer pays in full cash) delivery. Prospective bikers, Rejoice!!!
PS: This info from Chennai pro-biking showroom ONLY. I don't know about other pro-biking showroom across the country.

            • nope its a supersport bike from "IKM"

@deadman yo boy i spoke 2 the manager @ pro-bike n he confirms its a supersport 1st then a 650r later!!? ktm's r cumin in 2011 and the press meet news confirms this news!!!
here link :Kawasaki plans CBU, CKD expansion in India - India Kawasaki Motors setup - Motorcycle : Overdrive

At a joint press conference held in Mumbai, Bajaj and their long term technical collaborator, Kawasaki Heavy Industries announced the plans to build on the success of Kawasaki Ninja 250R.

A new company called India Kawasaki Motors (IKM) will be setup in a months time. The company will control Kawsaki's motorcycles in India. The plan is to build Kawasakis presence in the 250cc and higher displacement motorcycles.

Bajaj currently assembles roughly 100 Ninjas a month and IKM expects to sell 1000 units - assembled or CKD as well as CBU - by the end of 2010.

IKM's chief Yoshihiro Tanigawa said that the exact products are still being studied but hinted that the first bike would be a supersportmotorcycle, while mentioning that cruisers as well as other motorcycles are also being actively considered. IKM hope to launch their first product by June 2010.

IKM is also saying that they will look at local sourcing where possible - the Ninja 250 does use a small amount of Indian aggregates. IKM will use Bajaj's Chakan plant for product assembly and Bajaj's ProBiking sales and service network for sales and maintenance. Bajaj has 32 ProBiking outlets today and expects to have 35-40 by the end of this fiscal year.

Commenting on how KTM, Kawasaki and Bajaj will settle in to the same sales and service network, Rajiv Bajaj said that Bajaj will play to it's strengths. The mid market, as he calls it, is where Bajaj has two strong brands in the Pulsar and Discover and that will remain its focus. Bajaj will stay with motorcycles alone and look for new markets for expansion. "Building a 600cc Bajaj motorcycle is not the most important thing to do." he said.

KTM will be Bajaj's 'off-track' premium brand while Kawasaki will be the 'on-track' brand. All will work together at ProBiking with the Pulsar and Avenger doing the volumes. Bajaj said that sharing the sales and service network also made sense in terms of the cost of setting up dealers and their times to break even and earn adequate revenues.

Based on the comments, we expect that IKM already has a few Kawasakis in full scale homologatlon prior to a launch in June. The CKD products will obviously enjoy much lower duties than the CBUs. Since the other Japanese companies have shown no inclination so far to consider Indian assembly, or indeed sub 800cc products, this could give Bajaj, Kawasaki and KTM a very significant advantage.

A quick look through Kawasakis product line shows that it had a number of products in the naked, naked sports and supersports line that could find homes in India. Which of these will come to India? Watch this space.

yes yes, the more the merrier. no wonder motogp riders still ask for more power. im talking in layman terms, the ninja 650 will be enough for the entry level biker who just moved from a domestic bike to the 650.

Second. Volumes. Even though so many of us want these big bikes not many of us can afford it. The maximum tenure for motorcycle loan is 3 years and the EMI falls on the higher side for most of us middle class men. If the company's market research doesn't promise reasonable volumes then its no point investing in such a product for India.
