Thanks for the image correction.Originally posted by BANDHAV View PostThis is way too high, it will make sense only if its priced around the speculated 5 lacs INRs.
You are bang on about this, this is something which you can enjoy on day to day basis.
^^This is old 6F, I am attaching an image of new one.
Probking guy showed me the pictures of it too!
Yes 7lacs is on higher side, I too told him the same that price around 5lacs must be sensible!
And yes, 650R appears to be most practical bike if launched.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme

@Bandhav and Riaz: Do u guys seriously think the 650R will not cost more than 5L? I beg to differ. Its shown with a proven point in the R15, FZ and 220 that people dont mind paying for a good product. The 250 costs 3L right? Even if the 650R costs 7L inclusive of all taxes etc on road, there will be people(like me)to buy it. Reason: We simply have no bikes in that segment. Only options are a bike costing below 1.25L - Bullet, R15 et al or the Ninja 250 (which am not interested) for 3L and then a wide open gap till 10L for the liter class. So if this bike slots somewhere between the 6L - 7L bracket, nothing like it!Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.

PS: AFAIK Kawasaki has a "roadmap" to achieve in India, 650 is the first bike to be rolled out!
Bajaj has a reputation to be value for money (just that we had crazy expectations for the Ninja)
A venture like this would do good with MORE bikes being sold rather than, more premium being earned.

5lacs can be ex-showroom, with 10% life tax, insurance and other amounts...Price might be hovering around 6lacs. I still think that onroad price around 6lacs must be perfect for a 650R. Considering this bike will be imported as CKD from thailand and duty tax is 30% (Am I right?), I see no reason for this bikes price to touch even 6.25lacsOriginally posted by Aparajith View Post@Bandhav and Riaz: Do u guys seriously think the 650R will not cost more than 5L? Nothing worng in being optimitic!
Oh yes..My eyes are on it already to own it by next year! (i was expecting Z750 though
).
EDIT: And yeah..if it was ZX6R...then price might be higher.

Yep, am talking about the on road price only. Not ex-showroom. Same case with Z750, but hey am not complaining! Manufacturers, just give me some reason to upgrade from my R15 and my bank balance is urs. I agree on the ZX-6R pricing as well. But the ZX-6R or any R-series is manufactured at that company's facility. I highly doubt its availability as a CKD. It might be a CBU if it lands on our shores which WILL escalate costs.Originally posted by riazmomin View Post5lacs can be ex-showroom, with 10% life tax, insurance and other amounts...Price might be hovering around 6lacs. How i wish i could say that i don't think so, i know so but its not the case. My assumptions like everyone else is based on some rumors and some random calculations.Originally posted by Aparajith View Post@Bandhav and Riaz: Do u guys seriously think the 650R will not cost more than 5L?
How are we supposed to throw BURNING stones??Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostI demand this man be pelted with burning stones!
You have got your calculations spot on. Ninja 650 R is retailed at around 257,000 THB, which calculates to around 380,000. Now adds the duty on this, which should be 11% because of FTA between India & Thailand, now adds shipping cost, logistic cost, profit margin etc. Then subsequent state taxes and all still it should not cross the 5 lacs mark.Originally posted by riazmomin View Post5lacs can be ex-showroom, with 10% life tax, insurance and other amounts...Price might be hovering around 6lacs. All this when I decide to buy a supersport..Am brain dead! The question remains, to buy (new) or not to buy (buy old or wait for new) !!
Jokes apart, like apar said, no matter what the cost, ppl will still go and buy one..TVS 50 XL -> 125 XXL : TVS VICTOR GL : YAMAHA R15-S : YAMAHA FZ1n :: KTM RC 390

First. because i do not think it is easy to manage the assembly, not to forget the quality control and the workmanship in india. i remember kawasaki had so many issues with the ninja 250 thats why the launch was delayed by almost a whole year.Originally posted by sheelpriye View PostWhy can't we have ZX-10R/Zx-6R as CKD's?
Second. Volumes. Even though so many of us want these big bikes not many of us can afford it. The maximum tenure for motorcycle loan is 3 years and the EMI falls on the higher side for most of us middle class men. If the company's market research doesn't promise reasonable volumes then its no point investing in such a product for India.
