Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Re: AE14: Yamaha India Update at Auto Expo 2014

Well, it's true that Yamaha is taking ages for the ever-anticipated quarter litre and it's doing no good to their strange marketing strategy. In some biking forums I can see various posts anticipating the 'death' of Yamaha in India. With due respect to all, I think a Pulsar will be a Pulsar and a R15 will be a R15. Bajaj or Hero can't bite into Yamaha's market. Sales volume has never been Yamaha's priority. The priority is in quality products. They are successful at that. Anybody who has ever rode a RX/RD series knows what performance biking is(go to OLX.in and you'll hardly find a good second hand RD350 below 1.5 lakhs).
Whenever the R25/R3/R6 debuts in India, it'll find it's taker. But for Yamaha's sake, the sooner the better. The wait is getting just too long!
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

I don't know what the fuss is all about. It was already told by yamaha in 2012 that it wont launch any bike by 2014/2015. Its their marketing strategy.
I read the news in xbhp itself.

Really ? They said that. I didn't knew this. Let me search for that.

Yamaha has its own strategy then, unlike others.

I was still trying to search, but couldn't find it
Now it make sense for them being so silent. They had already stated this and yet we all are bashing them up. Lets see how they make 2014-2015 for us.

How can that be a strategy?!! I would call it 'inability'. If they are to win the market share, they should fight with the local players. They have every means to do it. They are one among the best. But concepts like the RC390 and R25 are very quickly losing their relevance here. The Indian companies are really becoming a big threat.

The problem is, many people here don't see Yamaha as a company. They see it as a brand that can magically make profits by selling anything. Well that's not the case; not just with Yamaha but any company.

Every company has a sales target when it launches a new product. No company launches a product just for a few loyal servants. Yamaha haven't had a great time here in India when you look at the sales figures and financial side of things. I just want to mention that it's not a 'who cares' situation. If they 'don't care', they'll probably suffer huge losses. At the end of the day, sales figures matter more than anything.

While launching a scooter is not a bad idea, staying away from the bike scene (what they are known for) is a bad idea IMO. That too for a couple of years! A possible 180NS and 200SS launch can very seriously affect the FZ's and R15's sales figures. Yamaha will possibly find itself in a situation where it is no longer the best in any segment and that can be tough to digest.

And I'm sure that Yamaha knows it and they're probably planning for a comeback with the great potential they have. I'm confident that Yamaha will make a comeback with quality products.

We are all Thrilled with the Numerous Bikes getting launched with different Players in the market

One Question how many of them will really live up the mark that R15 is living so far with far more advanced technology and still the best looking 150CC on the roads, Yamaha is just playing the waiting game

Indian Two wheeler scene is moving towards a scooter based scene slowly - and yamaha has read that clearly - Both the Japanese manufacturers are doing a good job in reading the market situation - No one mentioned anything about new Bike launches made by Honda...
