i wud recommend doing wheelie in first only as it is way more slower ,and as the limit of speed is less in 1 st gear the bike won't get above a certain speed while Wheeling .
Lets be practical no one wud be able to get to balance point in few attempts u really need to develop balls for riding wheelies in 2nd and that too at balance point.
So what happens is guys start giving more and more power in 2nds as the start pulling the bike up and then gradually the speed also gets increased and then at the time of landing it can get really scary sometimes.

so if u guys take my advice,do wheelies in first ,right now i can manage a comfortable 4oo mts in first gear in half old wheelies with some amount of breaking and thats "the" best way of doing wheelie,no matter which wheelies.

                Just remember few things:
1.Lift the bike at low really low speeds around 10 .
2.keep ur tyre pressure around 10-15 psi in tubless or 20 psi in tyres with tube.
                3.always cover the rear brake.
4.concentrate on the angle, the higher the better, and not on the length,as higher the angle more will be length and lesser wud be the speed.
5.try to ride with a comfortable position, dont be stiff while doing wheelies. It wont help,be relaxed.Remember u need to adjust with bike ,the bike wont adjust with u.

Possibilities in first gear are limitless so just concentrate on first gear itself, and u can go kms in first too.

                Just Remember :
THE HIGHER THE BETTER,THE SLOWER THE SEXIER

I agree with the slower part, but doesn't the higher aspect increase chances of falling on the back or on the sides due to lack of balance? Also any specific rpm that you would recommend to pop the front wheel up on a pulsar 150?

thats why i am saying to cover the rear brake and once u learn how to use rear brake while wheeling then u can possibly ride at any height .
see the rpm depends withthe condition of bike and amount of pull u r doing,if u think ur pull is accurate enough and u will be able to pull the bike perfectly then u can pop the wheelie at lower rpms else use more of power to get the bike straight up.

                      Uhh
Easier way to do wheelies and not die :-
                      Drive teh bike..first gear,go to a decent 25-30..(high RPM - not redline - 8-9?
Pull clutch in and release immediately, when releasin clutch accelerate.
                      and you'll have a mini wheelie =]
you can do it on any bike =]

Guys, I will put forward my experience. I own a P220 and started learning wheelie on it in first gear. Within a month with 15 minutes everyday while going back to home from my office, on the deserted road of my office (private road) I used to lift my bike and ride to a max of 10 metres. I was gaining confidence day by day.

One day evening I went to pick up a courier in some layout where the roads were deserted and inviting me to do wheelie. Moreover I got tempted to show off my skill to some kids playing there. So I did the wheelie a bit casually and to my surprise because of the uneven road, the bike lifted straight up in the air. I tried to hold its handle, but it looked as it will fall on me if I don't leave it immediately. I left the handle and fell onto the ground, the bike moved some 10 - 15 metres on one wheel and then fell on its right side, damaging its tail light, seat, front fairing, back fairing and exhaust pipe

I got a bent spine which is still not fully recovered after an year since this has happened. Now when I try to do a wheelie, a road block has come in my mind and I am not able to lift the wheel at all But I am working on it hard to get back to where I left it

But I really want to overcome this! Will anyone be willing to spend few hours with me correcting the technical flaws in my wheeling technique so that I can pull safe and long wheelies? I am in Bangalore.

                        This was my wheelie story

thts badd dude always remember one thing u shud never start of doing wheelies in basic position,as in this wheelie u tend to leave the bike if u r not comfy a point or u get scared .so for begining try doing half olds or standups and then go to basics, and if u wanna move ahead in wheelies start using rear brakes

                            guys!

i own p220 since last 1 yr, i always wanted to do wheelies, stoppies but did not attempt as get scare of bike damage & weight factor. bcoz of this thread now i'm thinking to do the same & expecting LOTS of valuable suggestions.

following are some queries & would like to get satisfied,

                            1) how much will affect on bike's performance in normal riding.
                            2) for maintance:
                            I> clutch plates & brakes.
                            II> tyres.

guys....... may be this sounds but................ really want to KNOW.

Ok. Let me get this straight.
I tried first gear wheelies on my pulsar 200. I slow down to about 10-15 kmph, hold the clutch, raise the throttle to about 8500-9000 rpm and slip the clutch. The bike pops a wheelie, but only momentarily.
I don't know if I am shifting weight properly, but then I am only seated when I try to pop it. Anything I can do to keep the wheel up in the air for longer?

I think thats what Stuntpsycho meant when he siad try half-olds or standups first, since they will get more weight on the rear, and make lifting the wheel easier. Once we can balance and perfect the balance point, we can wheelie by sitting on the seat too.
                                You get the point?? :D
