CBR250 will kill NINJA250R's sales from the second category.
This was due to the fact that there was no 250 then , untill now .
    SPEED .....i need more

Yes initially honda CBR make a dint on Ninja sales but it works only for a short period because of the following reasons.

            * Ninja is a different bike.
            * Honda is not only know for quality but also well known in India for its Attitude, service, spares and accessories cost
            * moreover the way they deliver the bikes quicker than all other manufacturers

CBR 250 will surely affects on NINJA 250r sales but it will not kill NINJA... Price of CBR is very low according to NINJA plus 1 more advantage is ABS.. And moreover Ninja parts are very costly..

I hope BAJAJ will do something so as to get back in market competition..

While I agree there is nothing CBR about the bike the CBR tag isnt India specific for anyone to say Honda is trying to fool India into thinking this is a CBR bike. The bike has a worldwide launch and gets sold in other countries under the same name. So it aint like some clever guy in the boardroom came up with the idea of calling this bike a CBR for indians were fools.
They could not have called the bike VFR for there is nothing V about this bike.
They should have called this bike CB250R if they wanted for there is nothing R about this bike either.

Being a NINJA owner for 9 months now, i've never stood next to a NINJA on a Signal, keeping the fact that all my 9000 kms are done within city limits, i think HONDA CBR 250R with its price tag and good looks and features will make my NINJA ownership more exclusive.

sales in India are driven by Service, spares & re-sale
NINJA has good service but costly spares ... Re-Sale is yet to be tested ,TENHUT might give some insights to it.. .

so HONDA will definitely have an edge ... if it can score in those departments... but if it screws up anyone of them i'm pretty sure once the initial euphoria is over it will see the same fate as that of UNICORN ... (nothing against UNICORN owners, i'm referring to HONDA here)...

                      • I think we have to paradoxical misnomers here

                        Oxymoron 1 : Ninja - Sales
                        Oxymoron 2 : CBR250- performance bike

                        Comment

                        • On the sales front the CBR 250 will eat into the ninja's pie, considering the price difference between the two.

On the performance front, the ninja will eat the cbr for breakfast... and lunch and dinner if they last that long.

                          • The question is simple and straighforward. Will the CBR 250R kill the Ninja 250R?

It will beat the s**t out of Ninja sales figures and provide real world/street performance matching the Ninja. Ninja fans can talk all they want about the higher top end and parallel twin engine, but in the city where it will be mainly be, it will still match the Ninja(check comparitve torque/power charts pretty much equal till about 8.5k RPM).

On the track its a different issue, but its a non issue for the 99.9% of the people who buy it. Its a matter of time before Bajaj responds with different product offerings in the form of its own 250 or something from its allies the Kawasaki (650?) and KTM.

Edit: And before my comments fire some imaginations, lets take a step back and take an unbiased look at Ninja and decide what it really is. Its not a track bike, its not a sports bike, Kawasaki doesn't say it is. Its just we idolizing it to be something its not. hmm.. Time to smell the coffee

                            • IIRC and just to clarify, Sunny had asked this question purely from a sales point of view.

Mods - Why not change the thread title to bring in sales?
Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one. And most of them are full of shit.

I love the way you put it! I think it will have a clear advantage compared to the Ninja in all conditions except track, considering the low-mid range power delivery setup. Soon the advantage will be known even in touring, which is where this bike belongs.
And back to topic, yes, I vote for CBR slaughtering Ninja's sales!
