Went to the showroom in the eve...
there was a seperate table with a CBR250 hoarding with two guys sitting, they knew good details, correct CC, bhp, but knew nothing about the bike being launched in Thailand ETC, and knew so-so about the NINJA.

overall i was satisfied with the info they gave.

Most of the Sales guys in Indian Biking showrooms are better equipped for garments shop or retail outlets.............it needs undying passion for selling a vehicle and not some cheap knowledge war with the customer

The dealerships are also such craps they keep sales guys who are better at calculating VAT and estimating OTR as if the calculator wont be there !!! Ridiculous !!!

          • If priced right, i think it would chew away into the sales of Yamaha R15, Ninja 250R, Karizma ZMR and like ! I'v always been a Karizma Fan, was planning of taking the plunge but ever since Honda has confirmed the launch of the CBR250R i'v changed my plans. Can't wait for the launch to happen.

PS:- Guys any one knows when the launch is gonna take place ?

I agree with you completely on that point. What we need is passionate people who are there at these places to sell the bikes, i mean they must have some interest to biking rather than just working to get more bonuses for more sales, and they provide useless information to ignorant customers and get cheated. Its a really pathetic situation here, I hope it improves for the best..

and there are quite a few reviews online.

most of the guys who've booked it have read a few reviews, seen a few vids,
there are also a few comparisons charts out there.

so no one's a "big fool."

and putting no offence in brackets doesn't soften what u're trying to say.

pathetic? at 1.5 lac it's a very good deal.

the CBR can do 140 for quite a while.

try doing that to a R15 and then lemme know the mileage you get.

so... based on your logic... lemme give it a shot...
                a stock makes R15 is 17PS... the CBR250R, 26BHP... at 40 grand more isn't that a superb deal?

i mean... that's like a whole extra 9 bhp for 40 grand. (100cc extra included)

Man you are so patient with this guy. I would bargain anything for the level of patience you have

Regarding noob sales person. It's not the case with only Honda dealers.Everywhere else this is the same story. No one knows nothing about the bike they are selling, except for the mileage, power, and the price..I am yet to meet any enthusiast or passionate sales person in a bike showroom..

I would like to share a small incident with you guys, about the noobs.A few months back I was in Yamaha dealership,Noida.I was there with my friend as his his bike was to be left for servicing.Meanwhile,I was just pondering inside the showroom. And then,I heard a salesperson suggesting Fazer to someone who's been new to biking..

After hearing some usual stuff I heard something that I really had to object..Here it goes:

Salesperson (to customer):Sir,iski top speed 235kmph hai!! (I was like oh-so-accurate..Do-saau-pentis)

Me(interrupting in between): Wo kaise bhaiyaaaaa??

SP: Kyunki yeh a sports-bike hai (because it's a sportsbike..)

Me: Bhaiya not possible, the maximum it can reach (on the speedo) is about 130kmph..(the covo was in Hindi though..)

SP: Nahi-nahi bhaiya..Main SIR se confirm karta hun!

Now me,my friend and also the customer followed him to his SIR's cabin..He now puts this question to SAAR..

SP: Fazer ki top speed 235 nahi hai kya?? Yeh keh rahe hain(me) 130 hai..

Sir: Abey nahi,235 nahi hai 130 hi hai parr...170-180 BHI AARAM SE CHALI JAATI HAI!!!

I just have to agree then.. Left the cabin asap without any doubts in my mind...

I don't know whether you'll believe this or not,and I am not making this up.My friend (who's also a fellow xbhpian) knows all this and will agree that this is what exactly happened that day..

Sorry for goinG OT,I believe the CBR will kill the sales OF Ninja for sure..

True; passion is one thing that drives everything away. On the other hand it is the COMBINED STRONG MISTAKE of the manufacturer/dealer. When a new guy is recruited I'm sure the questions will be...
                      1. How many yrs of exp
                      2. Which showrooms have you worked
                      3. Why're you coming here

Which is fine with me, but the guy should be put to training, I mean proper induction about the dealership as well as manufacturer & their products and most importantly, a close observation (probation) for 3-6 months. Only then the salesmen can fair well. I'm sure this is the case in west, but is this happening here?

Buddy, not to offend, but you should've picked up with them & show their inability in front of the other customer. I would've immediately asked for a test ride & tried to prove they're selling chickens!!! Damn morons, driving me nuts!!!

Has anyone tried booking CBR250 over the internet? Looks like the city is not getting selected without which the booking cannot be completed. Is it only me or anyone else has the same issues? BTW, I tried with both Chrome as well as IE.

Also appreciate some answers or post some sources for the following...
                      1. Does CBR250R come with 4 or 2 valves on the head?
                      2. I know its FI (or PgmFi), but any idea if its closed or open loop?

As it is a DOHC type it has high chances of being a 4V type.

No idea from website about Fi type.
There's an O2 sensor but it is located near the exhaust valve and not lower down.

It has a 4 valve head. No idea about the FI type, but I expect the conservative one.

Likely to be closed loop since it has a O2 sensor; but, the conventionally they're placed at exhaust assy, but why at exhaust valve is what I'm not sure.

Oops..should have been clearer about this..well see the top left photo of the engine diagram on the link. It has 2 inlet and 2 exhaust valves.

And 4V's have been used with SOHC's, so not necessary.
