I can confidently say that the resale value will be unaffected. Both bikes are different. For all you know, the resale value may even go up.Originally posted by rshekhar View PostI don't get over 25kmpl on my Ninja ever.......Yes I don"t drive below 100 ever......But I am already worried about its resale after the CBR 250 launch
Assuming the honda is going to rock the market and sell like hot cakes, the ninja will remain exclusive and ninja lovers will pay that premium to lay their hands on the best selling 250cc bike in the world.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

Do you still think the Ninja will be the best selling bike after the CBR is launched world wide? I don't think so, but nothing to take away from the Ninja, I just wish they upgrade the instrument console and the front headlight, the rest of the bike is perfect.Originally posted by n_aditya View PostI can confidently say that the resale value will be unaffected. Most important, price it a closer to the CBR. Then it will be a heck of a fight between both in India atleast

Well its all speculation for now. We'll know when they hit the roads and the reviews pour in. I only hope the "hype" doesn't disappoint those who are buying the bike.
Dont get me wrong, i'm not an anti-honda poster boy. If the honda's were to get the 600's here, it would be the first choice for me.

the re-sale value being unaffected, is possible.Originally posted by n_aditya View PostI can confidently say that the resale value will be unaffected. Both bikes are different. For all you know, the resale value may even go up.
but considering the fact that there's buzz about Bajaj dropping the price of the N250R... re-sale value is bound to be affected then..

Its very tough to dislodge a segment leader
From the Point of View of International markets (where the Ninja 250R has been the best selling 250 cc for many years):Originally posted by bprags View PostDo you still think the Ninja will be the best selling bike after the CBR is launched world wide? Once a product becomes the leader of a segment/category (250 cc here), its very difficult for a competitor to dislodge it from its perch. After all the segment/category leader has built up a brand for itself over these years.
Forget about India where there is a huge gap in its price, but in international markets where the CBR250R and the Ninja 250R is priced at par, the CBR250R will have a tough time convincing its target customers to go for it instead of the Ninja 250R. Never mind the Digital Display and the optional ABS.
"Desi" examples of how difficult it is to dislodge a segment/category leader:
[1] Hero Honda Splendor: The Splendor has existed since 1994 and has faced many numerous attacks from Bajaj, TVS, LML (Freedom) and not to mention from HMSI (CB Twister). But it still rules roost as the commuter King in India.
[2] Honda Activa: Despite having a plethora of models (even 125 cc's) the 110 cc Activa (100 cc when it was launched in 2001) still continues to enjoy a waiting period of 6 months and is the Scooter King of India.
[3] Bajaj Pulsar: The Pulsar was launched in 2001 and even in 2011 it continues to be the Performance King in India. There have been umpteen attempts to displace the Pulsar: TVS Apache/RTR, Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme/Hunk, Suzuki GS150R, Yamaha FZ.
Moral: When you have been the number one in a market for long enough, its very difficult for a competitor to dislodge your position. Not impossible, but very difficult.
For India: Its a different matter as both the products are fairly new and there is a huge difference in its price. Let the CBR50R arrive here first, probably people might see both the bikes belonging to different categories altogether.

A MUGEN 250
MotorbeamHonda’s in house tuner Mugen has come out with a special edition of the upcoming CBR250R. The Mugen CBR250R comes in red and black paint scheme with red leather seats, Mugen logos, new windshield, sports exhaust and red wheels. Although the CBR250R Mugen won’t be launched in India, we hope Honda offers the accessories at a decent rate once the bike is launched in the country next year. Also Honda could launch a limited edition run of the Mugen CBR250R in India to create excitement around the bike, although there already is alot owing to the promised Rs. 1.5 lakh price tag.

Can someone help me clear my doubts? May be noob question.
Ninja is considered as the best 250cc in the world. I just want to understand, with whom does Ninja compete?
What are the other twin cylinder 250cc bikes available worldwide?
P.S.: I love both Ninja 250R & CBR 250R. But have booked for a CBR because of my financial limitations/commitments.Sudeep P Nambiar

where is the market for N250? I can see only a very small % now -
1. Posers who like the look of N250 over CBr250 and have more than 3 lacs in pocket, but note that they will think thrice as CBR cost almost half with similar looks(sporty, fairing wise etc.).
2. A very enthusiast who can't sell out more that 4 lacs on upcoming 650cc, but can afford atleast 2 to 2.5 lacs easily or else he would also be inclined for a CBR after all money matters :P
PS: only for indian market.Last edited by foruamit2004; 01-28-2011, 05:41 PM.
