Jeez. If I were to buy an expensive motorcycle, I would buy it from Chandigarh, get it registered and then pay nominal fines 4x a year if stopped by the traffic police.

That trick doesn't work any more. The cops know it and nowadays they ask to pay full tax. It happened with my neighbor .

Accessories is a big business for Harley. I heard that the leather used in these seats is of good quality and finish. But, I agree that they are priced high, which might be because of import. They also have helmets, jackets, T-shirts, shoes, belts etc etc. I see many buy these as they cant buy the bikes, including me some time back

You actually plan to commute in it everyday?
Thats the plan. Since I use ring road, I feel that should be possible.

Can't you get the seats done from a very good seat-maker.
It will not be original HD one; but still, will surely save some $$.
Why not get it from USofA thru some friends or someone?

PS: Just curious about these, no way will I buy a HD anytime

Most of the ring-roads are crowded to the brim. IFF not, METRO WIP. Prolly you should leave early and come home late to enjoy your ride

Congratulations on being one of the first few HD's around here!

Would love to hear your ride in person sometime!

But that 120mm GC Bangalore roads aren't that forgiving either. Be careful!

120 mm is definitely low and should be careful over bumps. It is better than Superlow 883 which is 100 mm

Yeah that's a nice way to start ...

Ground clearance shouldn't be a issue as I see it, there is always a bit of space which is not paved on these speed breakers , either at the corner or in the middle ... Should be favorable for the Harley

I guess it shouldn't be a big prob. There was meet organized recently by Harley: Harley-Davidson India - Media Ride - Photo Gallery

We can see people riding Iron and Superlow. Are those Iron and Superlow imported or assembled in India? Anyone has more info on delivery dates?

First of all Congrats on your booking..... Well, yesterday when I was browsing the net I saw Harley Davidson Rocker C bike which had a solo seat and a extra seat with lies beneath the riders seat which can be pulled out from the saddle. I'm suggesting u to go for these kind off seats bcoz u can not only retain ur solo seat look of your bike but also have better comfortable ride on bumpy roads. I've attached the link of this video plz have a look.

Oh loved those pics ...Especially the camp site underneath that clear sky Loved it ...

Roads in Rajasthan are so made for HD ... The Fatboy reminds me of Terminator days with Arny with a Shotgun in his hand ... Had been to the showroom day before ... only to find it closed Could only catch a glimpse of 3 bikes ...

I hope HD organises such rides Down south too ...

                              Congrats Sree,

Very happy to read your post. I test rode Harley when they were launching the bike in india. I was apalled to hear that they were not bringing in the Iron 883, easily the best looking Harley in the sportster family.

The tax saving on the CKD units make it the most desirable big bike. I have always preferred the laid back cruisers to the growling crotch rockets. (Some early morning rides with these beasts also make me think otherwise).

Enjoy your bike and ride safe. Congratulations once again.
I ride in just 2 weather conditions...

A good news and a bad news.

Good news first : Showroom guys are charging 18K for insurance. Instead I enquired with insurance company of my old bike. I would save at least 50% by NCB carry forward from old bike to new bike.

Bad news : Unfortunately, the dealer got bikes just sufficient to display in showroom instead of his expected number for delivery. So, delivery of my bike is delayed by few weeks
