Congrats buddy! You never told us that you were planning on buying it when we met on Sunday! Anyway, good deal, I think the black Iron is one hot looking bike..

PS: The pillion seat, is it made by Harley or an aftermarket part?

Nice! So Haroon Bhai's jokes about his Harley & Harley's in general didn't deter you.

May I ask, weren't you aware about/ interested in the upcoming cruiser (ST7) from Hyosung?
If speculations are to be believed, it will be priced around the same as that for the CKD Iron 883.
& I assume the Hyosung will be easier on the pocket wrt maintenance, than the HD.

The Hyosung is a good alternative, but will it match HD in terms of after sales confidence, and brand? Definitely no. Who knows how good/bad Garware will be? Only time will tell.

wrt the part in bold, I would definitely be a bit skeptical about it, especially after the effect Kinetic's backing out has had on the guys who picked up the Comet & Aquilla.
But I think it won't be bad, now that we have HD available here, offering bikes in the same range (talking cruisers here). They will ensure that they are to terms with the competition.
After all, Garware would themselves know the confidence people would have in them vs. HD.

btw, we don't even even know yet if HD has done enough to ensure its after sales is upto the mark. Even that has to yet bear the test of time, isn't it?

Regarding the brand, the Hyosung can never beat a HD.

@Srisetty - Just wanted to ask if you noticed these 2 things with Iron 883 in India...
                1. Are you getting the standard security system (FOB)
                2. Are you getting the side mounted number plates that are unique to Iron 883 or the rear mounted (forced by Govt norms probably)?

I was not sure till Monday. When I felt the grunt of big boys in real, there was no look back.

Pillion seat, backrest and its accessories are all from Harley. Even screaming eagle exhaust is marketed by Harley. If you visit Tusker showroom, you can meet Koushik who is an accessory specialist .

Its somewhere in Haryana. The only change being made is number plate position. The side mounted number plates were forced to move to centre of rear wheel.

                    1. Is should be part of standard package for all 2011 bikes
                    2. I wished I could have side mounted ones. But, our Govt is a bit strict

The difficult one is the front number plate. The existing bikes have a sticker which is not fully according to norms. Currently its a mixed reaction from cops and few cases of fine were reported. The guys are trying to work out the best possible way. May be an after market number plate as an option...

                      @Srisetty - Damn the Govt!!!
First of all they brought down the good authentic vocal of HD under emission norms, next they're interfering with the plates which I hate

The beauty of Iron 883 lies in the side mounted number plates, otherwise it makes no different from XL883 but for the color & fat front tires!!!

So much for someone who's buying a premium motorcycle in this country!!!

Congrats & good wishes Srisetty. I also didn't think you will pull the trigger so soon as we just casually discussed it on sunday. Did the GS act as a catalyst. I am sure your son Sai will be maha thrilled.

                        Wish you an enjoyable ride.

Congrats Sri, & all the Best for the waiting period. You know this bike has been troubling me for quite some time too. I've been thinking about visiting the showroom, but some how it has always eluded me, last time I went there it was closed. The waiting period is really Looooong, btw why such a waiting period when it is coming via the CKD route ? Yes the factory is in Haryana. What is the On Road price of the Bike ?
