Might be OT and i don't know where to post this
I have planned to get a HONDA CBR600RR by the end of this year and I am so determined about it. So I just wanted to know the average fuel efficiency from the HONDA CBR600RR. I've also tried googling this but i can't find any valid results.

If fuel efficiency is one of the parameters on your list then a supersport may not be the right kind of motorcycle for you. Having said this the efficiency will vary from as low as 7/8 to upto 20/25 depending on how it is ridden. Also google has all this information .

Should I maintain a separate account for it?
Should I buy it through partial finance loan? Or is it eventually gonna cost me a bomb?
Any ideas how to go about it would be appreciated.

If you are going to keep aside some money for the next 2 years or so, I'll suggest you to open a recurring deposit account, that way you will earn some interest on your principal amount.

Auto loan is a good option, but the Interest you would be paying would be ridiculously high, which would be equivalent of buying some after market exhaust or something;.

Actually, even I'm planning to do the same, Aiming for a Daytona 675R.

Since you guys have decided and have some time, I will share what I did.

I decided around a year back when I accidentally visited my nearby KTM showroom and got inspired by the Ninja 650 there.

I set aside 50K in my salary account and when ever the remaining amount was higher than 30k (80K or more balance in account), I made a FD out of it for a period just more than 6 months where the interest rates are pretty high. Once the time came near and I had a date in my mind, I started to put them into shorter FDs. The interest rates were still decent and now I have what I want and the money would be ready 2 days before when I plan to make the payment. This was easily manageable for me as I can make my FDs through online banking and takes hardly a couple of minutes.

            best of luck

            • Selling an Indian invoiced/registered SBK

              Hi all,

Wasn't sure where to post, thought, this thread would be appropriate.

I'm selling my SBK; bought it in 2012, it'll turn 3 in August.
Pretty much finalised a deal to sell it, moving onto a more comfortable, more versatile machine, haven't decided which one yet.

Wanted to get advice on what all I need to get done in terms of paperwork.
There's a month left on the loan, so its currently hypothecated to the bank, which also reflects on the RC.

What else do I need to take care of? Be it buyer or seller

How does premium bikes normally depreciate in India? For example if a bike cost 10L onroad today, what can the resale expected in a year or 2?

I am not an expert in this, but from what I have seen it is not consistent with all motorcycle. A lot depends on the condition of the bike and the demand and supply of bike.

What I have seen is generally one can expect a 20-25% depreciation in the first 2 years. eg. New fireblade is around 17.5 on road. I could find 1, 1.5 year old bike for around 14, 14.5 lakhs. What also matters is how much after market stuff is on the bike.

                    Hi All,
Am back again. Almost finalized the SBK, Kawasaki ZX10R.
Had been looking around for a new 2014 R1 but failed miserably. My heart still wants the R1,not the 2015 model though, the price is sky high.
Here is the cost break up of the ZX10R. Need some help from senior sbk buyers as I want to get the best deal possible.
                    Ex-showroom: 16,14,000
                    Tax & Regn.: 3200 + 161400 (Kolkata)
Insurance: 35000 (Thankfully the dealer has agreed that I can get the insurance done from outside, which comes out to be way cheaper)
                    Other Handling Charges: 2000

The financing is a bit complicated. Both the dealer and my company's accounts (with OD Facility) are with HDFC Bank. HDFC is offering 12% reducing rate of interest, whereas SBI is offering 12.75%. But can't I bargain the interest rate to around 10.5% if the tenure is for 5 years?

Does registration of the SBK really involve 10% of the ex-showroom price? I have few known agents in RTO.

Any help whatsoever will be highly appreciated.

P.S.: How difficult is it to retain my current vehicle's Regn. number and use the same to register a new vehicle with the same regn. number?

Supersports are going to take a long time to land on our shores until and unless the current homologation for sub 800cc goes in favour of supersports.

If you want to them you need to import and that will cost you very much money, lets say the amount could be anywhere between 13-14L.

If you are so interested in a supersport, why not go for a triumph daytona 675.

                        Cheers,
                        Sanjay

                          • Re: Superbikes: A new way of life

Ever since this nice thread began, superbiking scene has changed a lot. easy availability coupled with rationalization of ex showroom prices(Hayabusa retailing for a full 2L lesser and rumors of z800 being localized reducing nearly a lakh off sticker price to name a few examples) ensures a steady decline in used bike prices is ensuring that more and more ppl realize their superbike dreams.
How careful one should be while riding them couldn't be emphasised less. It pains me when people tell sbk owners (acting smart sometimes IMHO) that they once road a particular sbk in a particular city at 160-180-200kmph. Brothers, the difference between 110 and 150 isn't same as 50 n 100 kmph. Raising your speed by jut 10 15 kmph when you already are going fast isn't a child s play. Ppl have no idea what high speeds feel or what n how they can affect you. A friend suffered retinal detatchment while riding a midsize bike. He was wearing a helmet. Guess how . Despite wearing a helmet, this guy raised the visor while doing 120kmph. Few secs of Windblast at right (wrong) angle was enough to damage his vision in 1 eye forever. How easily we talk of 120kmph in general because many of us have gone faster than that. Albeit in cars mostly but somehow been there done that makes one feel such speeads as easy. Even on a bike.
Well next time you are sitting passenger in a car doing such speed just try this (standard disclaimers applied)- take a frozen kulfi (that hasn't turned soft ,freshly out of freezer) ... open ur window just 3 4 cms and hold the kulfi outside fcing full Windblast. It won't last 10 secs. Your eyeballs are 10 times softer then this. You cant do higher speeds without proper gear. Every gear has limits. If you misunderstand yours or misbehave with it it may be the end. We have seen a rider meet his fate because he didnt zip his jacket up right until the collar. Poor soul was doing high speeds on a closed road and while at it, raised his torso momentarily instead of ducking . Next second, air entering his semi zipped jacket created a parachute effect sweeping him off the bike at triple digit speeds.
Looking back... how subtle or harmless it feels to open your visor or sit upright from your crouch. Well seemingly harmless motions took away 2 riders forever.
Those who are reading thus, chances are many of you will be first time sbk riders soon. Do not mistake her as just another more powerful bike.

Totally right, one cannot misuse the high power of bikes going 200+, you have to ride sensibly and only certain highway (which is not advisable) and tracks u can reach these high powers but with all the gear. If your gonna buy a 5-15 lakh bike, I think its only justifiable to spend atleast 10-15 Percentage of the bike cost on protection gear. Also all 250+ cc bikes even should have abs as standard. Me being from Chennai there have been a fair number of sbk accidents. Obviously Blore, Delhi ,Mumbai have more sbks , but duno those Numbers. These accidents which happened almost 100% of the time the person dint have the full gear to ride a sbk, even then ur life will not be certain, safety should be first.

You guys are right.I felt scary to hear his one eye was blind becasue of high sped.Recently i was riding my bike at 110 on highway with visor open(as it was dirty). Will never ever do that again. It was very hard to see anything as windblast was too much.lesson learned!
